  1. BTW, I never seen this thread till a day ago, I missed all the action so its time to stir it up, meat-style I have some questions... How much do one of these mud tires weigh ? Could the extra weigh of the mud tires negate the traction advantage they give ? Besides mud bogging and climbing coal banks with very loose coal I would think your at a disadvantage riding with mud tires anywhere else. I used to climb the bigger hills at Coal Hill many many years ago, but not anymore. The main reason is they scare the hell outta me. Another reason is if you roll down the hill, your expensive quad is going to be trashed. Here's a quick video for yas. Jim Stack on an XR650 climbin the wall at Coal Hill
  2. This is true, its not as loose as the videos taken at the school bus hill or the hills along RT901. But those guys in the Huevos vid were climbing some of the steepest hills at Coal Hill, and they're not well traveled hill climbs by any means. Iv seen a lot of guys climb coal hill over the years, and most guys can't reach the top and some guys can power up the hills..... and then when the racers come out, its a whole different game. If you think your a good rider, your nothing compared to these Pro's. They have no fear and boundless energy. I'v seen Dunk rail the whoops and track for 20 minutes of the hardest fastest riding you'll ever see, then without hesitation he'll head for the biggest hill at Coal Hill and FLY up the mountain like it was a bump in the road, and 20 seconds later he's launching off the top and barreling down the hill at mach 1, only to come back to the whoops and hit em all over again. There's a lot of amateurs at CH, there's lots of good riders at CH, there's a copula guys that are pretty damn good riders.... and then there's the Pro racers. Dunk and his guys can climb anything at the CH area, thats for sure. School bus hills and that loose stuff on the other videos is another story. I think they'd have a hard time, but I'd bet my money that Dunk could make it. Like MJ said, they do have the best machines and they're setup perfectly.
  3. Quad magazine is pretty good. My cousin, the guy I pit for at the local XC races, is a writer for Quad. His name is Lance and has been writing for Quad for about a year now. He wrote the Chris Borich interview in last months issue.
  4. yup. and you owe me $20 bucks
  5. Fast forward to 2:30. Jason Dunkleburger, Pat Brown and Dustin Wimmer climbing Coal Hill with Razr style tires, on 4 strokes.
  6. Throat ??
  7. RealTreeHD where are you getting the Sunoco CAM2 116 ? I was at Gap Racing on Friday and they want $65 and up for a 5 gallon can of VP race gas. I was planning on going to the airport and running AV in my new 250r, but if I there's somewhere I can pick up that Sunoco CAM2 116 and its the same price as AV... I'll give the CAM2 a try.
  8. I woulda gassed it and never looked back........ you shouldn't have pulled over. DCNR sucks, so does the fish and game commisioners. Every single one of em.
  9. Lookin to buy a set of stainless braided front brake lines in the color black. Only interested in a black set please.
  10. www.ronnies.com has just about every 250r part in their online microfisch, plus there's a pile of 400ex and 450r parts you can substitute if you'd like. All kinda parts on Ebay, and the stuff goes relativly cheaply compared to other quad models. I was extremely dissapointed with the power on my 250r, it just has a pipe and filter, but after I got the feel for it, I can ride it faster on the trails than I can with my Banshee.
  11. Happy happy 28th birthday dude.

  12. LOL Bansh-eman is right. they don't touch the pins on a modded star.
  13. thanks for the input guys.
  14. Those Banshee chain guides work pretty damn good, I wouldnt' remove it. Aftermarket 250r swingarms use the same Banshee chain guide. Its a good design.
  15. Sidewinder has a 17,000 lbs tensil strength chain and they say its lighter than thier lower strength chains because of the materials used, like titanium and chromoly. I want to use a chain that is the best, hands down chain for long term use with minimal maintence. Iv ran non-oring chains for along time, my 250r has an o-ring chain on it tho. that 17,000 lbs Sidewinder chain costs 180 bucks.
  16. Doh.... burrrrn. ya, im kinda curious to your bhq member rating system. Do you actually have a ratings book or is just names in a high to low rating system that you keep in your head ? Where was I rated before and after my comment about the free DVD bootleg ? Here ya go, I uploaded some of ripen's DVD to YouTube for yas.
  17. Looking to buy a new chain. Interested in opinions on...... What is your favorite brand of chain ? O-ring, X-ring, LMNOP-ring or non-O-ring ? Whatchas think about Sidewinder chains ? What tensil strength are you running ? -denny
  18. Agreed. Matt, C Quade told me that me and you actually rode together once. I can vaguely remember that day, but I can remember Quadey's buddy was riding a QuadZilla. I was riding a banshee at the time and I think Chris might have been on his old 250 Polaris Trailblazer contraption that he used ride around on.
  19. LOL  LOL
  20. "fluffy" what a great word. Anyways.... I say if not really going to cut your fenders again, that you should prolly not really cut your fenders again, unless you really don't not want to not cut em again, then don't. Ya know what I'm sayin ?
  21. blue I'd bet you could do stock A-arms with a PC specific heat lamp like the ones Eastwood sells. You can keep the heat off the ball joints. Even wrap the joints with something to protect em even more from the heat. Ya i'm pretty sure you could do it with the heat lamp setup.
  22. "The ball came right out with a magnet but the pushrod is a different story." You could put your lips on it and suck it out.
  23. Bondo and spray paint perhaps ?
