  1. I think a bigger chain problem is the fucked up axle carrier design on stock banshees. Especially the older style like I had to deal with. It had four nuts and bolts instead of two long ones. Trying to keep everything tight and straight was a nightmare.
  2. Sitting here trying to think about how many times my chain popped because of swingarm bearings and I can only honestly remember it happening to me only twice. But its vivid in my memory because the last time it happened was 3 summers ago on my red 250r. The time befor that was on my Quadracer back in the late 90s. So I'll admit it is a rarity. I would say that I do the average or slightly more than average maintenance on my quads compared to other folk. Not sure how much you guys ride and in what conditions, but I like to stay dry when Im riding so I avoid mud and water, and during the peak riding season, I like to get out a three times during the week and try to get some riding on the weekends. I usually ride during the weekdays tho. When my bearings died on my 250r, I was pissed at myself for riding it. I should have known better But it happens all the time....
  3. na man i hate to disagree but you can't be checking the bearings with the quad on the ground. You can get a general idea on the axle bearings, but you can't get a good feel for the swingarm bearings until you raise the rear off the ground. The swingarm can have some play and the chain still won't pop. Its tough to keep swingarm bearings in good shape. Its a bitch of job to replace swingarm bearings, you'd like to use em as long as possible. As long as the chain is not coming off, riding with bearings that are beginning to wear is fine IMO. Does the stock swingarm come with grease fittings for the swingarm bearings ? But I do agree with you about rough terrain and chains. I know it happens but Iv never banged off a rock hard enough to jump the chain. I'v always rode with a swingarm skid plate, but iv taken it off years ago and I'm pretty good at straddling trail obstacles. I hit my big bulky swingarm skid plate more than I have my sprocket and rotor. You lose so much ground clearance with a swingarm skid that it negates any protection advantage the plate give ya. Thats why these new rotor and sprocket guards are selling like hot cakes. They offer the protection without the ground clearance issues a skid plate has. I have ruined a few brake rotors though.
  4. Here's a selection of air filters http://shop.ebay.com/items/_W0QQ_nkwZtecat...QQ_fromZQQ_mdoZ And here's a shitload of rear calipers to choose from http://shop.ebay.com/items/_W0QQ_nkwZtecat...QQ_fromZQQ_mdoZ
  5. rear caliper and air filter shouldn't be that hard to find. worst case scenario you use a rear caliper from another quad model. Id keep it, its a rare quad and there's many out there that are still running. That white one for $1500 is nice, the guy did a nice job cleaning it up and it looks good.
  6. I wouldn't go as far as calling someone an idiot for having bad axle or swingarm bearings. Most bad bearings are found only because the chain popped. You have to realize that everyone uses their quad differently. I can see how a drag racin' guy would think that bad bearings should be caught before the chain problems start. But in my world its more like this ---> Ride every other day, for most of the spring, summer and fall, wash the quad once a week, inspect it as much as possible. But the problem about bearings is... to check em you need to put the quad on a stand to check the swingarm and axle bearings. You can't check em every time you go riding if your riding the damn thing all the time. Oh you will put the quad on the jack stand to check the play in your brand new bearings, you'll do that for the first 10 times you go riding. Then one day your buddies show up and you hop on the quad and go. Now its August and your checking your bearings once in a while. Chain is tight, no throwing problems, everything is dandy. Then one day your chain pops. Throw the quad on a stand and the bearings are shot. Its part of the game. The only way around this is to check the bearings all the time and although its the ideal thing, in reality it doesn't happen and chains begin to pop. Iv never had a chain snap, I don't have high HP motors. I ride in the one of the rockiest places you can imagine and I stopped running a swingarm skid plate 5 years ago and Iv never had the chain derail from a rock. I have never seen a stick de-rail a chain, but Iv had one wrap around my axle and sprocket pretty good. I have never broken a front sprocket or seen one break. I have seen chains de-rail from worn sprockets and from being out of adjustment. Thinking about it more, I would say that all of my chain de-rails were from bad swingarm bearings. Usually its the swingarm bearings that give me the problems and not so much the axle bearings. It only takes a little bit of wear on the front swingarm bearings to wiggle that long swingarm enough to pop the chain. The axle bearings are a lot stronger and last longer than swingarm bearings.
  7. If a bearing race is seized up or rusted fast and won't come out, I'll just destroy the bearings by any means possible to gain access to the seized bearing race and then I'll just take a dremel or small die grinder tip and grind the race enough to break through it. Then you can grab the cut race with a pair of pliers and twist the rest of the race out. Usually when you grind the race, as soon as you break through the race with the dremel, it un-seizes the rest of the race and it comes right out with the pliers. This works better with swingarm bearings. Axle bearings are big and harder to get at the race to grind it. I always put anti-seize on the new bearings. Seems to work pretty good for... ya know.... anti seizin' stuff :geek:
  8. What is the eye to eye length ?
  9. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...T&viewitem= Hey dudes this is a BRAND NEW 38 TOOTH ALUMINUM REAR SPROCKET made by SUNSTAR for a HONDA TRX250R. It should fit all model years. It might even fit the Honda 450R and the 400ex. I used this sprocket to practice my powder coating with. The PC looks good, the color is FLAT BLACK. The sprocket is brand new, but the PC is has two small nicks and a small line, nothing ugly at all, I just wanted to mention that the PC is not perfect. Aluminum is not the best metal to powder coat and considering the abuse a rear sprocket will go through don't expect the PC to last a lifetime, but the PC should hold up just fine for a while. THERE IS NO RESREVE ON THIS AUCTION. PAYPAL accepted, along with money orders and checks. SHIPPING TO THE LOWER 48 IS A FIXED $5 DOLLARS. Get a nice, unique cheap spare rear sprocket for your ol' R. Try out a nice quality aluminum sprocket. Great for the MX racer who's more concerned about going fast and less concerned about sprocket longevity. Great for the guy who's looking to try something different. Good luck, happy bidding and if you have any questions, just holler. -Denny AUCTION ENDS SATURDAY JAN 31ST 8:30 pm EST

  11. who was that Arizona WR catching all those balls in the Philly game ? Wait till he meets Mr. Polamalu on of those catches deep in the middle of the defense. For you guys who haven't seen many of this years steelers team, wait till you see this defense that pittsburg has. Its nearly perfect. There is no way that Arizona is going to get many yards running, they will be passing a lot. I'll guarantee there will be some very very hard hits put on Arizona wide receivers. This defense is vicious. James Harrison is great. He won best defensive player of the year. Lamar woodley is the outside linbacker on the other side of the field of Harrison. Woodley is a second year LB from Michigan and he's going to be a big name in the NFL. Polamalu is the best safety in the league and Harrison is the best linebacker in the league. Pitts problem is the offense. But the offense has finally got every one healed and they have been playing better. AZ fans tell us about the AZ team. I only seen them play in two games this year, both were the playoff games.
  12. Here's my SB prediction. Steelers win. 48 - 0 The steelers second team will be playin by the third quarter
  13. The guy got some good moves. But that leotard is killin me.
  14. Auction ends tonight, Monday night 7pm est
  15.
  16. nope. I just dug up an old picture of a brand new '04 yfz and it had the bunched up coil type front shocks.
  17. ya the helldriver fight video is one of the best atv videos of all time
  18. Yea great games today. I tole ya not to count out coach Whisenhunt. I think Andy Reid is one of the worst coaches coaching, and when both teams are evenly matched, then it comes down to coaching and Whisenhunt is better than Reid. Steelers were stellar. What more can I say. They look a lot better than AZ does. Everyone had a good game, a shame about Hines Ward, he's got time to rest up that knee. The Steelers defense is so fun to watch, they're nearly perfect. Best statistical defense in the league in 17 season. Super bowl pick. Easy. Steeler win by 10
  19. Its my auction. This is a slightly used, polished aluminum ASV clutch lever and perch in great condition. Looks new. It is unbreakable as the lever can bend backwards. This clutch lever was used on a Honda 250R with Pro Taper bars, but I'm pretty damn sure this will work with any quad or dirt bike that uses a cable for the clutch. These are the best levers out there. I cleaned and polished everything for the new owner, just bolt it on and go. This clutch lever is used and comes exactly as pictured. If you have any questions just ask. This is a no reserve auction. Shipping is fixed at $10 dollars for the lower United States. Auction ends Jan 26th, Monday night 7pm est http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...T&viewitem=
  20. I'll tell ya what, philly beating AZ is not a lock. AZ coach Ken Wisenhunt coached at Pitt as their offensive coordinator and he was GREAT, it was sad to see him leave Pitt, I wish Wizzin'hunt would have landed the Pitt coaching job. I like Tomlin, but Im not 100% sold on the guy yet. Philly was really a mediocre team for most of the season, they lived near the bottom of the division for a while. Philly has been playing on emotions to win the last few games to keep em alive. They're going to run out of steam soon. A well prepared, well coached AZ, playing in AZ against a philly team thats due to run out of gas soon. And Baltimore always plays Pitt tough. If Pitt gets its offensive clicking, they'll beat the Ravens. Ray Lewis is going to be ready to play on Sunday. Both games should be pretty good.
  21. Pittsburgh had the toughest schedule in the whole NFL and they still finished 12-4. One of those losses was early in the season against the Eagles in a stupid ass game that either team could have won. Pitt won all its games with a hurt star running back. Now that Willy Parker is back, 250 yards rushing in two games, the offense is starting to jive, along with the best defense ever. My prediction is Pitt vs Phil with Pitt winning it all.
  22. yea its cheaper to buy a used frame from NYUK than to buy one of those expensive kits. If your set on keeping your frame, you could make your own conversion, you just need some tubing and a welder. Just copy the stock design.
  23. Hey doods im here almost every day. Just have been doing a lot more reading than talking lately. All my quads are currently dead and its too damn cold to work on em, so I haven't had much to talk about lately. Benbb is here all the time and I seen Boonman online a few times, but ever since he got married he hasn't been allowed on the internet without his wife's approval . CEJ has been MIA ever since his divorce and Holyman and Led have both disappeared a while ago. CEJ had popped in every once in a while, but Holy and Led have fell off the face of the earth. (just noticed this is my 5001'st post)
