Seriously thinking about getting a Banshee..
R. Rollins replied to ferrari4756's topic in General Banshee Discussion
You may consider all of this. I waited all my adult life to finally own a Banshee. When I could finally buy a quad, I purposefully went out and Bought a Brand new one last year right out of the crate. It is older technology. The suspension feels great on my old ass. I dont race professionally , but Ive rode every sort of trails and dessert that I could get to around the Rocky Mountains up to 11,500 feet and down at sea level in the Yuma Dessert. I have recently taken a trip and rode it through the woods in Alexandria, Louisiana as well. I never had any problems and had a blast throwing dirt on the people behind me....lolol I guess your over analyzing it all. This Banshee thing is a passion..... You can see by all the super modded drag bikes, the dunners and the mudder bikes that Banshees are made into. Parts will be here for another 30 plus years as they made only a couple of changes as mentioned above for all the production years. (endless parts supply,,,,forever) They look Bad ass period. They scream at you and not burp at you when riding by others. Its pure thrill period. If simple is what you want, buy a YFZ-450 or Rapter. If special is what you want, build it yourself. My 5 cents worth..... -
I saw these cables on a guys ATV last week. It looked goofy to me. He had them hooked onto the foot brake lever to keep him from pushing down on teh lever too hard and stripping the threads off the shaft. It is a limiter thats all. It limits the over torque of the foot brake shaft, IE billet levers that may strip out. Marketing gimic someone thought of. You would have to weigh on teh pedal pretty hard to strip it out right?

I dont know much about sand tires But are Sand Geckos any good? I found a set for $80 for the pair, almost brand new. My ATVs are close to stock except the filters and pipes. I dont race anyone except neighbors when camping. I see that you guys run alot of those 10 and 12 paddle tires. Input?

You said it man: I am 45 and going to stay 16 years old. Its nice having the cash to buy the toys you always wanted.

The neighbor kid down the street has pods on his and rides in all weather, He brought his Banshee down to my house to fix a few days ago and both carbs were filled with muddy crud. The pods were rubbing onto the frame and had rubbed holes in them. This kid doesnt have a clue, nice kid but he neglects this small stuff. He figures as long as it runs he doesnt care. WOW. ITS A 2005 BIKE AND LOOKS LIKE DEATH.(no fenders, bald rear tires), bent handlebars NOW HE JUST NOW OFFERED TO SELL IT TO ME FOR $2,000.00 After seeing the carbs like that , I know to always run an airbox of some type.
-
I second that, maybe $900-$1100 is a fair assessment. Just keep it man; It should run with the best of them for another 20 years. The seat is ugly. Buy a cheap two tone or all black seat cover and change it. The fenders need re-shaped.... You could prop them up with something on the tires and heat them up with a heat gun (very carefully) heating the whole fender slowly Once they cool down they will be back in shape. Then take a car polisher (high speed professional type) and wax it up and polish the plastic to new shine again. Most all the scratches will come out if you wax and polish long enough. (it is alot of work though) For what its worth ....Its a collector bike now and darned nice looking. I would definately keep it.

I have one stock Banshee and a Banshee with a T-5 pipe set on it. Ill tell you that you will get bored with stock pipes really quick. Use that clutch for more rev at low speeds.....lol Its just wants to scream, dont hold it back ....lol Let her rip

My whole family has the $30.00 firesticks on all our quads (5 of them). We have had them rolled over, beaten in the branches of the woods, and slammed into low branches at full throttle. 3 years on some and one year on the others. They are not the required 10 feet flags as I hear that are required in the California Dessert, they are the 8 footers, but They are thicker, and hold up nicely. Those thin assed fishing rod looking flags are crap. I havent tried the billet holders, just the heavy springs that came with the firesticks.

I spoke with a DMC rep today and he said that the production of the pipes has begun. They will keep production of those 916 pipes open until the production run stops and they have filled the orders that they have so far. They are waiting to see how much interest they have in these pipes before they stop production of them. I wonder if Tammy; "ATC250RCHICK" in the above thread and get another "2nd batch on order" for the HQ? I am not sure she will do it again for us here but it is worth seeing how much interest is in it for a second batch order. She may decide to do it again, who knows.

Banshee DMC 916 exhaust spotted on EBAY
R. Rollins replied to Infamous039's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I just called DMC; Ans yes; It turns out that the spark arrester for that pipe set up is a plate design. It is still used for the new ones that they are making right now as well. My bad...... -
I just called DMC and he is still producing the pipes right now. There will be 4-6 weeks production time on them. Unless you call and get a dealer now they may not be available later.

Zach45 Ya had to go there; So you had to go there and start the cussing; Ok there dumbass; Your suggested earlier that he go out and buy new carbs. Now you say keep them??? You stated earlier to pull start the Banshee , now you offer actual advise?? I can tell you jurry rig your license plate as you do your banshees. Yes its highly evident that your stupidity overloads your mouth. Yes I typed in "pickup gap, instead of spark-plug gap" I at least spelled almost all of my replies correctly. Again, your a dum ass and most likely a punk kid at that. Go away little boy This man can actually see who offers sound advice and those who are just running thier sucks like yourself. Your reply didnt PROVE anything of your capibilities in your knowledge of the subject, just as I had challenged you. .
-
Ok now "ZACK45" What kind of a silly remark was that. "Just clean up the carbs and pull start it". Looks like some shade tree mechanic stuff If we ever heard advise like that. Dont go bashing advise unless you can actually offer "intelligent solutions". Show me where those proceedures are all that wrong. Prove it !! If he does it correctly, it will start with his hand on the kickstarter and NOT, pulling it behind his truck with some damned rope as you put it so wisely. As a matter of fact, If you cannot be civil, dont respond. Plagerism of others great advise holds no matter in this case. What if I did use others advise, which I did not? Big deal man. But then again, are you not the BANSHEE HQ Captain here? Shouldnt "YOU" be the one offering really great advise of accuracy? You tell him the correct way then. "And not that bad advise you offered him earlier". If I hurt your feelings, well Im sorry, as I do not mean to be rude as you were. Dont offer up someone elses advice as being bad unless you can show where the problem lies with some degree of proficiency.

New Banshee owner just saying hello
R. Rollins replied to Joey's topic in General Banshee Discussion
\After looking at the bike and its condition; you paid for the excellent condition and very low hours. I think its well spent and it looks great. Sure the dealer made thier cut, but tires show alot of life left and the whole darned thing looks great. Being as you will never sell her now that you finally have a man bike, A good bike I say. If you plann on selling her a few years from now, then maybe not as there are better deals out there. -
I sure hope your Shee doesnt hear those funny questions......lol  funnnnnnnnnnny
-
I read an article the other day that said that in order to delay of lessen the blueing effect, one must run a richer fuel mixture to keep the heat down. Just what I read ....but who knows. Blueing to me just means its fast. keep them clean and dont worry.

Aftermarket carbs. Also: My next door neighbor kid(16) has the pod type K&N filters and 'they rubbed two holes in them" from vibration and caused muddy looking dirt to get in his carbs, man what a mess. The filters were only 6 months old. The dirt mixed with the oily gas and clogged them both up. Id personally recommend an airbox of some type. Aluminum boxes run $200.00 bones. someone here has an extra stock airbox that you can put a large K & n filter on. You can then drill extra air holes in the top and put in vents onto the air box lid for 6-9 dollars per 1/2 dozen vent openings to glue into the holes. Just a thought. R. Rollins sends..

Shee wont spark, tried everything and still no spark.
R. Rollins replied to 93dakman's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
My sons ATV had a good CDI but bad coil that I found defective all of a sudden. It did just as yours did, every now and then it would have a faint blue spark. I replaced the coil and it ran fine. Could this be the problem ??? is it a possibility?? -
The above mentioned advise is great. You may try to lube the throttle cable first as I know you are experiencing headaches enough with the top end already. I hope you have a manual of some sort. good luck guys.

icy/hot because stoke suspension kicks my ass. $6 the rush i get from 90hp and the look on my 4 stroke friends when i blow by them at 1/4 throttle. PRICELESS thats my mastercard moment. Wow I liked this quote very much> I dont get what the big deal is about the suspension. Sure it may not be a race set up for track racing, but man Is it soft on the ass i think. Or maybe your highly modded elka suspension is tearing the ass up is it? This is good discussion at its best.

W  ow what a deal.

Lets see now: We now know he doesnt need the TORS removal kit. But not buying the carb gaskets...I lost a quad due to a fire in Arizona near Yuma due to gas spilling out of the carb bowls when it ignited. Cheap insurance I say. Fuel filter....Hmmm $1.50 each.....pretty cheap i say. Even could put one extra in your tool bag. (pretty cheap) Carb sync tool.....No you dont really need it unless you want reall accuracy adn the best settings for max vaccum. You can use just the visual mechanical method if you are not too concerned about being anal retinive. it may be hardly noticeable. So there is $35.00 saved. Carb spray, yes you could do it with one can. New plugs....Maybe, you could just clean the old ones. A good compression test with a good tester sure seems needed at this point. Again. I always remove the airbox to do the throttle cable adjustment as I can see the sliders moving up and down alot easier than trying to see the dimple through the windows on the carb sides. A clymer manual, I say yes; you can download one .....but(I personally dont have a computer in my garage, so I anm not about to keep walking down to the basement to get back on the computer 100 times checking proceedures or waste money on ink and paper trying to print it all out.) $35.00 is about the money output for the manal. So far we have output out of pocket for : about $38.50 or so plus what ever the gaskets in the carbs (float bowls )cost. Hell thats not too bad. Note: if once you find that the compression has been accurately checked and find its still low as mentioned above, check the reeds while the carbs are off, If they are ok then better plan on re-build on the top end. You can do it for under $300.00 Id say very easily depending how much you can do yourself and what all tools you have available.. Hone as mentioned above, etc, etc, as stated by the others above. good luck
-
Crap; Sorry guys I must have missed the compression figures. That would have saved me alot of typing on that one. Yes they are correct above. Just clean the shit out of her, get a manual, and re-build her top end. Man I cant believe I missed that one. Attn to the details I guess. kickin my self real hard....

This answer is all about preference. Where will you do most of your riding? If you are going into the mudbogs or coal beds, or even high mountain riding at very high altitudes, then the Banshee is not for you. If you just want to screwm at the sand dunes, then a stock Banshee may be ok but a modded Banshee is much better. Out in the open, There is nothing like a Banshee. If slow gut wrenching torque is what you need, Get a large CC Utility ATV. I prefer to scream all over the place . I love my Banshee so much that they will have to shoot me dead for me to sell both of mine. One wasnt enough....yes I have two for me only. Sure mine are just a stocker and one with T-5 pipes on it, but I could care less. There are many faster 4 stroke bikes. Like a Rapter 700 can take a stock Banshee in a longer race, but I wonder how it would do in the dunes???? If you like that unnerving burb of a 4-poker then get yourself one. Its funny that Yamaha has been making this same model for over 20 plus years and hasnt changed a thing hardly at all. Thats because its bad ass. If you want a real mans ATV, get a screamer like a Banshee. Its the ultimate man toy, that can be modded in the garage in the winter away from the bantering of the wife, and built up with bigger , faster and cleaner assessories and parts. It will then smoke any other ATV out there once you get it modded out real good. There is no better time than now to own one, pretty soon you will not be able to find one stock as they will all be modded out....lololololol
