If I would have had that Bike back a few years ago I would have shipped it out to Iraq and used it as a camp vehicle down at Motor -T. Just placed it in a shipping and storage container with the tool boxes and tents. great machine idea and theme. Ray

We have been told many different things on expected wait times. When the DMC company starts lieing about where they are at in the production processes and I hear form the Company rep one thing and another person is told another thing, I look at it as a reflection of business practices. If things are that bad then they should have just made a few and sold them on the open market. General Good business ethics are that the customer is told the truth...period. You can do as you personally wish sir, however, I know what I was told and I am sticking to what they (DMC) told me. Its a simple matter of them being able to deliver to meet the demand. If thier production halts and they cannot deliver this year, then are you willing to wait the whole summer, due to back ordered parts.? Not me, several months is plenty of time. I do not blame Tammy at all for any of this production failure. I blame DMC. As far as parts not being available for the Banshee in 5 years: I do not believe this would be so; as the Banshee is being produced exactly the same for over 20 plus years and is still being made today for canada, australia, mexico, south america, south africa and europe. If they stop making the parts then some up and comming small businessman will fill the viod. Plastics are never a problem as most cut the fenders off anyhow, so who cares about the plastics availibility. Laker still makes them, as do Yamaha and a few others....Yes you can still get Maiers plastics for the Honda ATC series Hondas even now. As long as those companies can still sell the plastics for 525.00 per set they will still make them, even if its in small production numbers. Large production numbers type bikes will allways have parts availibility because it relates to the supply and demand curve in the production/manufacturing process. Also; We all ordered the DMC-916 pipes and not the alien series pipes. So if they have put the alien series ahead of allready ordered pipes then again; another business faliure as the alien series pipes will just be placed on a shelf while the sold pipes will be or should be ratther, shipped out immediately. The Banshee is not like the ATC series Honda where they were outlawed for production by the mothers of america. The ATC series was also not produced in near the same numbers as the Banshee has been. I am not worried about that statement not one bit, that is also a reason why I chose the banshee other than its the baddest Quad I ever rode. Numerous parts availibility and cheap parts are some other reasons. Yes I am venting and rambling on and by no means mean to take it out on you guys, AT ALL. I am just getting fed up with DMC.

I just saw one here in denver the other day for 1800 and it had new plastics and new tires on it. I would say no on that deal.
-
I meant what I said. If they havent left the DMC shop by the 15th then they will not make it by the end of the month. So they evidently told you one thing and me another. Im calling a manager on the 15th to see if they left the building there at DMC. The guy I spoke to assured me the 15th was the date. If he bullshitted/ lied to me then he can have his darned pipes and I will tell that sales manager exactly what we have been told by the DMC reps. Because if they fail to ship out on that date then there is no way we will have them by the first of next month. I know we wont have them and we will allready miss out on Memorial day. I guess I will wait the extra day with all the rest of you till the first. I have to travel that previous weekend anyhow. I doubt they will be ready by then. Man OHHHH man

Ive used enamel reducer to get paint off of plastic fenders before, as well as laquer thinner. I soaked a rag and hit it really fast to get the paint off. I used a shit load of soaked rags to do it and then flooded the plastics with warm soapy water after I did it to negate the chemicals on the fenders. I scrubbed with warm soapy water for about 15 minuites. I did the chemical strip really fast so those harsh chemicals didnt soak into the plastic for a long time. Afterwards I put on a coat of polishing compound and buffed them out by hand a bit. Then with a clean pad on my car buffer I slapped on a coat of wax and ....wallla....good as new.
-
Hell yea; Put those plugs in a vise and get a 4 1/2 inch hand grinder with a thin metal cutting disc on it and get after it. It takes about two minuites each plug.

Chrome shop in Colorado..New technique..?
R. Rollins replied to R. Rollins's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Yea; Can you imagine a chrome set of Banshee plastics....Tank and all? I really liked the section on the video where he tiger striped the busa. Then the other bike which looked like red chrome colored candy coat. I cant imagine a home spray job comming out that good. Plus I think that the fenders on Banshees are some sort of polyethelyne plastic derivitive of some sort and flexes a bunch, so Ill ask them about it when I e-mail them some questions on the whole process. -
Hell; those others are good to save as well. :ermm:

I have a few sites in mind: http://www.protectfabrications.com/yamaha.htm http://67.199.65.66/cascade_innovations/ne...TORE_AREA_ID=28 http://farmandsandtoys.com/partdetail.asp?partid=59 http://prm-atv.com/MN.asp?pg=products&grp=57&mfr=3 http://www.mmatvonline.com/product_info.ph...480b5084d15d090 http://www.project321.com/quadMain.php# http://www.bansheedepot.com/proddetail.asp?prod=10%2D5741 http://www.banshee-cooling.com/ That ought to keep ya busy for a while. I think the site I was looking at was the PRM site Ray sends...

Hey everyone. Check out this website I found. Under the gallery section of this website there is some cool stuff here with neat plastics possibilities for the banshees. http://bulldogcustomchrome.com/ Its in Estes Park Colorado. The next time I am there Ill take a tour and update everyone on what all they can do and some prices on stuff. Its worth a look anyhow. Anyone know anything about this process?

Sounds like one carb could be slightly clogged. Or you need to check to ensure that both carb air fuel screws are set exactly the same. I doubt that one carb has a larger jet than the other so Ill eliminate that now. If a piece of grit fron somewhere got into the jet and limits an orifice it could cause that condition. I would 1st check the sliders and see if they are lifting at exactly the same time when you start to push the thumb throttle down a bit. When the aitbox is removed and out of the way, then it is easier to do this. Those carb tops should be just snug enough to begin lifting the sliders exactly at the same time. (This is your mechanical sync...visually without a sync tool) Both carbs should be adjusted the same with the set screws. Do this then get back with us all and see if one side is still hotter than the other. If so then you may have to pull the carbs and check things out, along with checking your reeds while they are out just for the piece of mind while you are at all this. Ill just bet the carb jets are clogged on one side. Dirt plays hell on these machines if the filters are not sealed properly. Ray....

I would like to do one in orange plastic. I think that maiers has an orange set that caan be ordered as well as Pink for the ladies. They stock several colors. There is a company called lakers that does the race style plastics but I hear they are expensive. If you are just going to cut the fenders anyhow then get teh race plastics. Another option is to get an older set of the color you want then race cut them in the style you wish. Just a thought.

Alright: I used to be the unit SACO for the Marine Corps Detachment as one on many additional duties that the friggin Co put me on during one tour of duty in El Paso Texas about 7 years ago. The testing is still conducted the very same way. THC can be trace detected up to about 3 months depending on body mass, metabolism etc. Hair test is also great but seldom used. 3 weeks they will definately know if you have used POT. There will still be trace chemicals but it may only tell them that you have used recently but may not be enough to get you kicked out of a govt job or military etc... Getting hired for some security clearance is another story....Your screwed in that instance. Human Resources at most companies use an independent clinic to do that sort of testing and have the results read by doctors to the Human resources department directly. That same doctor will tell you what the results are but the results will have been signed by you in a release form as a prerequisite to being hired at all. (My wife is a Human Resources Director at a major corporation) Any how, all that snake oil , juice, excess water intake, and cranberry does not effect the detection at all. I interviewed craploads of guys we kicked out of the Marines over the years about what all they tried to get over on the testing. The lab technician that tested the samples also had been doing the testing for 20 years when I dropped of the Unit samples. He did tell me that If a person were to get up that morning and almost kill himself with like 10 gallons of water before the piss test and piss at least 6 times before the test then he may have a chance of negating the testing with dilluting teh natural processes in the body. Note: you can kill yourself this way because of the removal of too much salt from your body. Chase with alot of gatorade with this process and who knows. I have never seen anyone beat it in the military.. But ive only witnessed thousands of military being tested and seen the readouts from the lab with the Commanding Officers. I guess this is about as good of reponse on this question as it gets. :ermm:

check out the "banshee killer"
R. Rollins replied to 2strokecook's topic in General Banshee Discussion
There is a company here called aeeen performance that sells a performance stage three kit that I thought about for my son. http://www.aaenperformance.com/ATV_Home.asp The kits look really impressive for the 400 scrambler. The stock 400 does well but not enough to kill my Banshee. -
I called DMC again and the pipes are at the chromers and will be by then all polished, and ready to be shipped out from shipped out from DMC by the end of the week of the 15th. This is the latest update from DMC. If this is true then, they should arrive at 2twin 350s place by no later than 22 May and boxed up and shipped out to us to arrive at our houses by I would say the 30th. Note: this is a lot of shipping time allowances. . Thats plenty of time to have as allowances for our stuff. OK: So my new deadline and total drop dead date is 30 May period. If they dont have a tracking number to my house by then ....oh well. I think that this is more than enough time for the processes.
-
I figure Ill wait no longer than 22 may. If they are not at my house by then, I figure thats enough. Then I will be tired of the promises by the manufacturer. However they are supposed to be done before then. And the extra week will give our Dealer 2twin 350s enough time to ship them to my house afer they recieve them from the DMC manufacturer as they were promised. Anyone can have the other pipes. Ill wait until then and just see if they deliver on the promise. Im trying hard as ever to be patient, and its hard. Yes I could have had a set of new Toomies, but when I heard those screaming DMC pipes, I had to have them. Im in aggreance with you man. My date in my feed up mind is 22 MAY 2009. I feel this date is also a good date for all of us. Maybe I just need a good tranquilizer.

Try "Babbits" They sell all over the world and you can look online to see the blow up diagrams and can see if they have it instantly instead of waiting for the dream list to be reviewed by some guy and then wait for him to e-mail you back on it. The video section here can help you alot also there is "nitro Tate" He has done a Banshee rebuild video that has sections of video on Carbs and things like the Plug chop etc... Its a really neat video. Order the carb sync tool like the one shown on the HQ videos Carb section from E bay for about 35 bucks. Good luck.

1987 roller for sale $1100 comes with CA title
R. Rollins replied to bansheefever1's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
Dang: For that much it should have some gold on it somewhere. Photos will tell the tale though as it is really old and most 8 year old Banshees can be as low as $1,500 bucks complete with T-5 pipes on them. If yours is especially clean, with great paint and no corrosion and great plastics , then maybe its a good price. Pictures Pictures and more pictures will help sell it. -
I always use Babbits as they can tell you instantly if they have it in stock whereas bike bandit you have to fill out a wish list and wait till they get back to you with your parts list. You may fing these at a specialty bolt supplier that stocks metric stuff.

Two part question: When you say you have some matter in the engine do you mean something is the matter with the engine or do you mean matter like material and metal debris? Secondly, If I saw chunks of piston chipped off or something along those lines I would immediately consider a tear down and inspection of the engine. At the most it could cost is the gaskets and time. You could do a top end on it if you think its bad enough to warrant it. The previous owner may have allowed dirt to get at the intake through not cleaning the air filter and ensuring a tight seal around it. The dirt got in and caused that damage, but who knows. I would post pictures up here and let some of the experts here help you diagnose this problem. These guys have been doing this for a long time. Ray

Hello; Welcome to the HQ and we need to know what all you have to work with as far as bike tools. Do you have a manual? Do you have a carb sync tool? If not then there are few things to eliminate to get you started. Give her a really good cleaning and scrubbing before you get started. That way you will work on a clean machine. Next : since you have back firing problems and weak spark you may have two problems. One may be stater related as you think and the other may be carb problems. lets first eliminate the spark problem. You can remove the left side stater cover and check to see if it has had water and coorosion under the plate and eliminate corrosive related problems. Ensure that the flywheel key is in place and that the flywheel center bolt is still tight. Replace the cover and check all the wiring on teh chassis for evidence of grounding problems and places that have possibly rubbed through. Get a volt meter and check all the wires by unplugging the harness and checking for continuity. Double check theoil assembly for cracked wires and loose plug caps that may weaken the spark discharge to the plugs. Check theround wire to the coil and make sure that it had a great positive ground without painted frame getting in the way of a good solid ground to the chassis. Finally, remove the carbs taking note of exactly which carb top goes to which carb and, Then after taking them apart clean them thoroughly with a small parts brush. Using small strands of wire you can strip out a piece of spare copper wire you have and use one strand to poke a small strand of it through the jets and orifices to ensure that all orifices are clean. There are tiny holes on the jets and brass bristled toothbrush parts brush to scrub the carb body with carb cleaner. (note: you may want to soak the carbs overnight without any rubber parts on any pieces because that cleaner is very corrosive and will eat the rubber goods if left on.) Next carefully put the carbs back together and assemble them back onto the manifolds boots. When you put the carb tops back on then use the screw on top to adjust them so that they lift the carb sliders at the exact instant. (this is a visual reference for carb sync). Snug everything back up and replace the airbox. Clean the spark plugs and attempt to start it. This should eliminate a lot of problems you could have as you mention. The rest you will need to adjust the carbs air fuel mixture and idle speeds exactly the same as the other. After doing all of this then you can get back to us and tell the symptoms if any. In the videos section on the HQ, there is a section on carb adjustment. Also look up "plug chop" Ray

Hell no its not sturdy. It needs a shitload of reinforcing all over it. It needs a coating of some type on it as well. He is lucky to get 50 bucks for the lumber he has into it.

Ground up rebuild, need some ideas!
R. Rollins replied to extrme-shee-racer's topic in Banshee Appearance
Lets see Ideas... How about a clean white racer look. or even a orange and black tiger stripe pattern all over the plastics on a black frame. Just a thought...... :ermm: -
I dont see how it would hurt anything doing it that way. I would just drain all fluids out of it and then lift her up on end. With no fluids there is no worry. Plus a good oil change every 10 hours of riding time is good for it anyhow. You could just drain the fuel back into the fuel can with the hose.
