I ran a 38mm TMX on my stock engine... It ran awesome. It got better when I went to the 2-1 dynoport pipe. I'd say 35mm if you haven't done anything to the motor, and 38mm if you have.

Actually with a HAAS CNC now in the family... my brother and I have been throwing around the idea of taking a over sized turbo an building a supercharger that would drive off the flywheel. Small gearsets are easy to come by and the case could be machined into an exact copy of the stator cover. but that is just a dream at this piont. I'd like to get into some options for my baby scarab first.(sprint 18) One thing at a time until I get into my new house. $$$'s short right now. you guys give me something I can make for all of you and I'll make sure it gets machined. My brother is dying to test the limits of the CNC (TM-2). I'm sure somebody needs something we could all use but nobody makes. Submit your ideas people! How about some swirl domes (like ski-doo did on the first mx-zx) to run a higher comp without using race gas? ski-doo got 114hp out of a 440 with that motor reliably just a thought...

Thanx for the support guys! Every now and again someone comes along that takes one look at my project and actually realizes what kind of work went into it. It's not just a quick bolt on item with a banshee, but when somebody like me comes through and makes it work from start to finish. Then the path has already been plowed for some other people to do it and know what works and what doesn't. And that is where the pay off is! I'm just hoping to make it easy for some people who want to take on the challenge of doing the same thing to their bike. I'm tired of people just takin the easy way and dropping thousand on a cheetah. I say try something new. This was the basis for the whole project.... To blow the doors open on the "finiky turbo" and make people see that it will and does work. Carbs are just a thing of the past for people who want to push the limits. I'm happier having my banshee sitting in the garage with all its potential, then actually riding it the way it was. I gladly gave up the entire summer of banshee-ness for the future of the TurboBanshee. and I'd do it again too. Sometimes you just have to go for it regardless of what your giving up. Next year... I'll be the fastest guy around. maybe, just maybe I could be the fastest guy ever on a quad. But we'll just have to wait and see what this motor will take before I have to build it again...better BTW... I still haven't spent as much $$$ on this turbo project as it costs for a cheetah. update... I have the mega back out of the bike and in the lab for some more config mods. I'm installing a filter circuit on the MAF jumper under the board. I've gone back through the harness and cut out the MAF wires to install some high quality shielded wires in their place. I've also clocked the MAF to be farther away from the spark plug wire. And finally I'm working out some EMI problems with my stator wiring. It seems the monster stator was cross-talking between legs and i wasn't getting but only a few amps up to the rect/reg. Which I have since replaced with a rect/reg from a brand new 600rr. (faster reacting diode trio) It seems that I should have twisted the wires 10-12 times per/ft instead of braiding them together. I'll be back on the saddle after vacation. More updates soon. Stay tuned

Porting with a 2-1 carb setup
TurboBanshee420 replied to fernando427's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Just out of pure curiousity i put a 44mm powerjet lectron on my 2-1 otherwise stock engine with stock crank and ported reed box... It ran just as hard if not harder than twins. Not even a bog when I chopped it from an idle. Too bad the boot ripped after only a few hours though.... But it only proves the piont that the 2-1 has no limits as far as how much is too much. I was running a dynoport 2-1 as well. Seemed wierd to me but whatever... -
Man that sux! I had to pull my cylinders off to do some mods for the EFI and I didn't find anything but a slight wear on the bottom edge of my skirts. But thats normal for a motor with quite a few hours of running @ 10k. Did you have your bore done before or after you had the pistons coated? I gave them to swaintech first so my machine shop guy would know how thick the coatings would be. But I also had to tell him not to beat them up while they were in the shop since that PC-9 is very prone to chipping if you knock it hard enough....strangely enough... also remember that forged pistons swell tons more than a cast piston

So I put some seat time on the banhee finally these past 2 days. tries to do some tuning, but I found a problem with the input signal from my MAF... Seems to have way too much interferance from my spark plugs being too close to the wires. So... I'm going to need to do some more refinements. But regardless of that... I made a 3psi pull up behind my house at 1/4 throttle. Came on right as the dyno port hit. I'm super excited on what a full throttle pass would be like. Just at 3 psi it felt like a WOT pass without all the goodies on there. I have it all torn down again to make the proper changes to the harness. I should have it all fixed in about 2 weeks I hope. Summer is going by very fast these dayz. I hope to have a fully finished bike by mid-fall....well see what other curve balls I get dished

I siezed up the rebuild I'm running now during break in... pulled off the trail..... drank a cold one... poored 1 on the motor... started it back up and ripped home. But I have my guys at swaintech PC-9 my skirts for me. so when I pulled the head.... perfect. Not even a scratch on my skirts either. sometimes you get lucky sometimes you don't. I did the same thing on my gasgas wild 300 and I wasn't so fortunate. But I still rode it home!

yeah 7 is never used on a banshee... yeah I would really get out the ohm meter and start looking over the ignition. I have another CDI if you wanna try it. Even if your flywheel is cracked or has a broken magnet it's still not going to make the magnets any weaker. I'd say maybe the ign. side of your stator has a small short and is only giving half the juice to your CDI. It's still very possible that it can have a short and still work. Heat can also affect the stator too. maybe causing the short only while hot.(shorts can also help make the heat worst) The only thing stopping those wires from touching on your stator is a VERY thin layer of poly coating. It melts at a pretty low temp. like 500* (google "magnet wire"). If you changed the ignition coil then it can't be plug caps or wires... If it runs ok for a while then it's not the harness... the trigger gap is set... only CDI and stator is left to check... -
If he broke a ring off from the siezer then it's going to be more complicated then that. He'll need to probably buy a new set of pistons and have a bore job done. Then he'll still have to find out why it did that.

sounds like a real week spark to me. Or even a bad coil maybe. Check the float level obviuosly and make sure it isn't just a fuel problem before you get any further. One thing at a time. You have air... sounds like you got fuel.... so I'm thinking spark. Check your plug gaps... run them @ 24-28 thousands. They may not be gapped at all. That would account for the spark being blown out with any load. How does it run at full throttle under load? might just be as simple as a poor tune.

10mm stroke on stock barrles whats needed
TurboBanshee420 replied to twinrock's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
If your looking into a 10mil maybe you shouldn't mess with stockers anymore. Listen to firehead and just get some cubs. No spacer needed with the 10mil cub cylinder. -
take a deep breath..... ok 1st pull the plugs and look at them. If they have a salt and pepper look to them you are probably looking at a problem. white plugs or alum on them is also obviously a bad thing. If it's chocolate brown at the tip and black on the rest then your good just maybe forgot to mix gas or something simple. put a couple squirts of 2 stroke oil in the cylinders and let them cool down. after about 20 minutes or so then try to turn it over. If it doesn't move then take the head off. if he had some metal chips on the head surface then maybe some coolant got in there. do some investigating and repost. If it's just seized up then you can still salvage the motor. If it blew up then you need a bore and new pistons. 65.5mm is the next size up. Also why would you need 100 octane? Is it a super high comp motor? Ultra advanced timing? The higher the octane the slower it burns...just like gun powder.

tusk makes twin row bearings, and also allballs too. just check rocky mountain or moto-man. Also on ebay their is a guy I know that lives around me who races with all the pros and gets all kinds of new shit out of their trailers when they sell stuff. As well as having acounts with tons of people... anywho... his ebay store name is AVON CYCLE JOINT check it out. I'm sure he has it for REAL cheap. I got a set for my banshee for I think $20.

just put 4 lazerstars on it. I can see for at least a half mile with mine. 2x75w spots on the bars and 2x30w widebeams in stock location. It looks way better than those huge things. First rock that hits them and your done.

yeah I'd say thats a cover-up for a drug operation...LMAO not for making power....

what compression should I run?
TurboBanshee420 replied to 2004LEBanshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
too high of a comp for a topend built bike. Sounds like your set-up is for 7500 and up and you have a comp ratio more suited for a mid range bike. Drop the comp to 155-60 area and you'll find what you want. -
I agree with snop... check your slides to be facing the right direction. And sinc them in with the adjuster nob on the tors unit on top of your carbs. Also don't forget to check your boots for a tear or leaking air. double check all your clamps and boots. you also siad you put reeds in. Are they sealed up...gaskets and all... everything is good. check for a gap or folded gasket or anything like that. If it's leaking then it will burn you motor up. Only thing tors can to wrong is kill the motor or make it have a 4000rpm rev limit. So if it revs past idle it's not that.

TurboBanshee420 replied to xXBlessedWithDeathXx's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
ever think maybe you have too cold of a plug... one cylinder always runs better than the other. Maybe one isn't getting a hot enough spark. that would most definetly have something to do with the motor running shitty while it's hot. And the white smoke going up a hill could be from it only getting a spark half of the time... which would give it a rich mixture for the times it does fire. Hillclimbs heat up banshee motors real fast....full throttle/100% load.... If your running a 9 then try an 8. Then do another test. When you play with your timing it has a huge affect on lots of other things that happen inside the chamber when it fires. I'm going through all that right now with my efi. just a thought. -
2 into 1 carb question
TurboBanshee420 replied to peterlocal22's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I had the same with a 38mm TMX. It ran tits. Never had a boggyness or hensitation when I slammed it from an idle. -
28PWK's....w/pods K&N Shearer inframes.... put a 15t on the engine....

weres the cheapest place to buy maxxis rzr 2's?
TurboBanshee420 replied to peterlocal22's topic in General Banshee Discussion
razr2's are grippy and wear long but they are a bit heavy. I run holeshot xcr's on the front (21") and a set of 22" kenda klaw xc's on the rear. good tires for trails but not to heavy, also last me a while, and they are cheap. whole set for under $230. I only moved up to the big rears because I got a set of double bead lock 10" hipers. But for such a big tire they are still way easier to holeshot with than the ITP tires out there. All you really need to worry about is cost, size, and most importantly 6 PLY.... Everyone rides different dirt! Make your own choice for whats best on your trails. -
None taken... I've been assured by much more experienced people from the megasquirt forum that it will last quite a while.... the catch being that it's not supposed to be mounted like most people would tell you. On an average 4 cycle engine you want it mounted quite close to the exhaust outlet. In my case it would be a very bad thing, with all the unburned fuel and oil inside the expansion chamber. So the corrected way of getting around this is to put it in the exhaust well after that threshold. Like more toward the tailpipe. In my case I mounted it right before the fart can, behind the turbo. So it will only ever see mostly burned fuel. see you can get bum readings if there is raw fuel in the stream. Because it will tell the comp that it's way lean from seeing all the oxygen. when really it's so rich that it's causeing misfires or a foul'd plug. I also have an output for EGT feedback to the mega. Just don't have one yet. So in the case I just discribed the mega has a way to know if it's just lean or actually foul'd out. This is only the beginning of this project. I have a thousand refinements to make. As time goes by I spend most of it thinking about how to make it better. Same goes for when things happen, like burning the ignition driver out. It was just a dumb mistake I overlooked. Their is a formula for finding out what the dwell is supposed to be for the coil I'm using but... I'm also doing lots of other things so I just did what was said in the megamanuel and started with 3.2 millseconds when It should've been more like 2.4 for my perticular accel high energy coil. Your supposed to do that and timing first before you tune at all. But the catch being, how are you supposed to know if it's misfireing from the fuel table being way off or misfireing from not enough spark energy. The trick is to do a bit of both until you can get in close enough to focus in on one thing at a time. Of course if I still had a CDI I wouldn't have to do all this but... I wanted to use full control. (spark & fuel) Oh well... Live and learn my friend

It's the size of a credit card and water proof! That would have saved me a bunch of time with that box I had to make. plus the room it takes up. It just wasn't available in time for me to use it... which sux. But I heard it's now in full production. I may move over to it once I learn some more with the v.3 ms2.

couple snapshots I got off quick before the family got home.... Those hardlines were a bitch and a half... I had a few minutes to play with it saturday. But I had a few peramiters set too high and fried the ignition driver on the board of my mega. Good thing I built it as a kit and know the ins and outs. Few minutes with a meter and I found the problem. Got a few more drivers on the way (VB921) and I'll be up and running again by weds. for some more tuning. These things happen when your doing something for the first time... Anyone who has built a hotrod knows what I'm talking about. Well.... back to work. More happening wedsday, I'll trying to find someone to take a video of more sweet banshee sounds for you all.
