  1. In my opinion, dont waste your money. I have one on one of my banshees and its not that great. It is neat having the odometer, but i usually ride with my gps anyway, so dont need it. The speedometer, who cares really. and the tach doesnt work for shit. I tried every option to hook it up and it still works very erradically even with resistor plugs. I think the banshee electrical system is just too noisy. Not to mention who really can look at the damn thing when riding anyway the readout is too small and cluttered to really be of any use while hauling ass on anything but smooth ground. In my opinion the only real valuable tool is the water temp. But there are some way better options. Look up the thread by thebansh358 on his injected banshee. He posted pics of a water temp guage he just got and it looks cool. I think im going to check into it.
  2. Ok here is the thing you need to know about paddles. The bigger the tire the better they will hook. A 9 paddle 22/11/8 will hook way harder than a 10 paddle 20/10/10. The short stiff tires suck in my opinion, but some guys like them. You need to decide what you will be doing with the bike. If you want a straight duner, I still stand by the 21/12/8 8 paddle skat trak edges. I love them, just the right combo of traction and rideability. If you want to have a duner and do a lil drag racing once in a while get the same size but in the straight blade hauler. You are only running a +4 arm you wont need a ton of tire. In my opinion a 10 or 12 paddle hauler on a +4 arm will hook way too hard unless you go to the 20/10/10 carcass, and i think they just suck all the way around. ( I have a set and i never use them after 1st trip)
  3. Holy shit, you bought all that and havent bought a bike yet. Nice. List looks pretty decent, I would ditch that sand stars though and buy skat traks. blue labels will be fine for sand thats all i run on all my bikes. If you want some v paddles get the skat trak edge in 21/12/8 with 8 paddles, if straight paddles get the skat trak haulers in 21/12/8 in 8 or 9 paddle. I run both on different bikes as "duner" tires and am very happy with them
  4. I guess it depends on how big of a hurry you are in. If jeff has the cylinders all done and ready to go, id just get a new crank and run it. His stock stroke motors run nice. If you dont mind waiting to find another set of cylinders and then have jeff port them then do that, but im telling you, you wont be dissapointed with the lil motor either
  5. I did the exact same thing. Sent a set of cylinders to jeff, and then tore the motor down once they came back only to find a junk crank. I was told by PO that the bike had a new welded crank put in right before i purchased it well guess what, it was junk. I was bummed at first as if i would have had to buy a crank i would have gone 4mil for obvious reasons, but hind site is 20/20 right. Well i ended up buying a stock stroke crank and putting bike back together, and it runs great. You wont be dissapointed. Just go with what you have.
  6. Jeff (FAST) is a good guy give him a call. He carries the magnum baskets. I have had great luck with them. I have them on 2 bikes and they seem to be doing just fine after a couple years. While you are in there you may want to inspect/replace any worn shifiting or clutch components, now is the time to do it. Talk to jeff, but basically a moded shift star and shift shaft and possibly the eccentric stud along with a pancake bearing for the clutch and a billet water pump impellar would all be good insurance.
  7. I dont have a proof source so i cant verify it, but... I had heard that the plovers also prefer the open areas because its harder for predators to sneak up on them. So all these years the homo rangers at Pismo put up a fuckin fence everytime a bush grows to protect the snowy plover habitat. then the fucking birds just move back to our side of the fence. Wouldnt surprise me a bit.
  8. Would love to have everybody come to the left coast but summer wont work for glamis or dumont unless you like 120 degree temps. Glamis and dumont riding season generally starts at halloween, so would have to plan around that
  9. I love it, "they are 44 pounds each so not as heavy as you might think" Holly shit balls, no way a bike would perform well from weight alone.
  10. I will go check the link and sign it. Be carefull, dont get dragged into the whole "if they close this place ill just go somewhere else" mentality. Once they are successfull with one spot they will try for everything. You guys better take it serious and get everybody involved. They did the same shit to pismo here. It used to be the best and only place i even would ride. Miles and miles of dunes camping right on the beach it was bad ass. Now its a joke and im sure will be completely closed sooner than later. Everytime i go there i see new pieces of fence, and they are never moved out only closer in. The tree huggers dont give 2 shits about the economy or the tourism, so that argument is mute to them. Sad to see it happeneing up there as well. They used all those same arguments at pismo back in the day. The snowy plovers, hikers etc. Total bullshit, ive never seen anybody walking back there. And hell now they even have it closed to foot traffic.
  11. If you do not need more power for bigger lights, then there is absolutely no reason to get a bigger stator. In fact a lot of us have had such problems with aftermarket stators that we have gone back to stock. I would personaly just find a good used unit. They are for sale on here all the time. If you ever do need more juice for bigger lights, float the ground on the stock stator, and convert the bike over to DC and go to LED or HID lights. That is my next move.
  12. You dont hear a lot on here because they arent site sponsors, but they sell nice shit and ship fast. There chrome is top notch. If you want some real show chrome pipes buy them from cascade. they buy them raw and have them chromed properly. There silencers are nice too.
  13. fuck this place im movin to hillclimbers forum. oh wait. shit.... naw i got nuthin
  14. i know that jeff at FAST carries a lot of oem parts and they arent on his site. Give him a call i bet he has it
  15. Well like said maybe put the ohm meter on teh new one, check the wiring harness for any bad wires. If that doesnt work maybe check to make sure that the key didnt fall out while putting the flywheel on. That could cause the timiing to be way off
  16. did you set the pick up coil gap? should be 0.018" or if nothing else about the thickness of a business card.
  17. Matt just in case you havent seen it, go rent it today.. Idiocracy. nuff said
  18. so you have a huge airleak creating a lean condition. I would think yeah that could do it. Not to be a dick but you realize you just destroyed the top end for the cost of some intake boots.
  19. depends on what kind of riding you are doing override might not be the best choice.
  20. no sorry nobody really wants to pull your lever
  21. I do agree with your list above, it is very important that all the components be in good shape. Probably wont need the ball and push rod, but i would put a good eye on the actuator, and just replace the hub and press plate. For the cost of a new clutch hub and pressure plate its not worth skipping it and having to go back in later. The very most important thing people seem to forget all the time is cable maintenance. 6 HD springs isnt really that bad as long as you have a good cable (I prefer oem, the motion pros are not the correct length) and keep it lubed. When you call jeff to order your parts get a cable luber from him and lube the cable every weekend of riding. Makes a huge difference. He also has the ez pull levers. Just listen to him, he will get you everything you need
  22. I ran a fast clutch with 6 hd springs and no lock up on a 421 cub on gas in my dune bike long before the servals were availaible. Absolutely no problems. My opinion is do not do a lock up unless you are doing an override
  23. point taken however when you ride with the assholes i do they think its fun to steal your key and watch as you storm around camp looking for it.... LOL
  24. cut the two wires off, solder them together and relocate it to the dumpster
  25. i put a lil 1211 on both the stockers or the pipe plugs for the cubs. hasnt been a problem yet
