  1. haha thats the problem. theres almost too much information on the topic, its tough to find it all!
  2. instead of cutting off part of the rear mount, what if you cut off the front part of the front lower a arm mount? i figure moving the arms further forward would possibly make it handle better? or would this just create binding with the front suspension? to me it seems as though the shock would align better with the bottom arm moved slightly forward (when the supspension is fully uncompressed).i have everything for the conversion so far im just shooting ideas out there... any thoughts?
  3. so i am planning on doing the 450 front end conversion, and i recently bent my stock axle. My question is since the 450 front end is a few inches wider than the stock front end, what aftermarket axle would be the best fit for the 450 front arms? i was planning on going durablue thanks!
  4. im only 19 so ur saying itl be a hack job? this isnt rocket science man... im not just looking to butcher my banshee. im starting with a POS, and im turning into a legitimate machine like many other people on this forum... im sorry if it seems like im just "playing" with wild ideas, but this looks like a pretty easy mod. Remember: this is a 20 year old atv, not a mercedes-benz turbo diesel supersport magnetic racing machine(idk where i got that idea from:D) but i dont have the money for an all out long travel suspension- im lucky to even afford an 87(college kids spend lots of money now a days) 1st problem my shocks are from a 1992 polaris indy 500(for the southerners thats a snowmobile!) 2nd problem i have j arms instead of buying stock banshee a-arms for my new frame, why not buy yfz ones if theyre better? i have shocks from a 2000 zr500(once again a snowmobile) which are 1.5 inches longer than the yfz shocks this will make my 87 ride at the same height as a 450, and increase the travel over the yfz shocks with the stock banshee spindle im just trying to get the most bang for my buck so i can still afford to enjoy my friday nights. believe me for only spending 150 on a arms and 250 on a frame, i think ive thought this through plenty it cant turn out worse than what it is now i kno that...unless i start something on fire with my barely 19 year old "mickey mouse" mechanical skills
  5. if they give increased travel, are two inches wider, and make the wheels sit an inch further forward, whats the big difference? to me the 450 arms should be a no brainer for those who arent mechanically retarded and are low on cash...am i missing something?
  6. ok i have a set of shocks from a snowmobile that are about 2.5 inches longer than the 450 shocks... if i used these instead of the 450 shocks would it work alright? i know it will raise the ride hide, and comparing the banshee with the 450 front suspension to a yfz450 i know the banshee will sit lower...with the longer shocks shouldnt it sit the around the same height as the 450? or will there be a few spindle/tie rod problems?
  7. could u post pics of the welded frame?
  8. im very interested in doing this same conversion...i dont see the point of converting to banshee a arms when yfz arms are mush better... correct me if im wrong
