  1. Most people won't listen because they are stubborn or there friend who's cousins brother used to have a shee said different. I'm glad you did. What pilots did you end up with and did you do a plug chop for the main yet? 188 is close but I've been as high as 210 on singles so might be something worthwhile looking into
  2. So slightly ported with CPI n pods and your running 290s with 100 over pistons. You definitely have have throttle cable play issues and sync issues. Have done a squish test yet . With that overbore I have seen the pistons kissing the fire ring on the dome and slightly lifting it allowing fluid in. . Might be something to look into. I always back my idle screws all the way out set cable play/pull then set idle sync with a vacuum guage. IMO your jetting is lean for your mods . Are you sure the quad shutting off isn't a seazure ? Your plugs can also look fouled from antifreeze seeping in. I would make sure those domes are clearance enough for those pistons just to be safe. Is there any signs of deto on the plugs or pistons tops
  3. Stock carbs pipes/porting I like the toomey needle if I can't get the factory to work
  4. Where do you live, it needs to go to a banshee guy .
  5. Got ya, I know something happened at motion pro like they changed hands and the newer cables weren't opening up the pwk all the way no matter what you do, so custom ones were made
  6. I do read higher temps on powdered cylinders but it never been an issue. They also dissipate slower in a cool down scenario
  7. Post something in the wanted section, I'm sure someone has stockers laying around
  8. If you have problems getting full throttle I know cam was having custom cables made to open the bigger carbs, I grabbed a few a few months back. You can also call motion pro your self
  9. If it's questionable use thin film of threebond 1211 after using scotchbrite to clean and ascetone to wipe down surfaces to remove oil n contaminants
  10. It really depends on condition of mating surfaces and how anal you are cleaning. All thes engines are getting old and it's few n far between that you find one that someone didn't jig up with a screwdriver
  11. Yes , the throttle position your questioning is rite in the transition zone from needle to main. You wouldn't happen to know anything about the porting would you? What needle you running? I'm assuming no lid on the box . Throw 340's in there and give it a rip . Is this your first shee? I can usually tell by ear n feel of an engine if she's lean but if this is new to you then you might not be able to feel it
  12. Have you done a plug chop. With porting I would have started at 340-350 main n worked from there.get your main dialed first, could be experiencing a lean needle condition but without confirming good chop on main I would not play wth anything else
  13. As explained reeds out with a paper towel is a good start. I usually ask one of my friends to run the vacuum while I drill n tap it takes the risks away big time.
  14. Can't make out letters, what does it say. Yes the needle effects the widest spectrum of tune . If you want knowledge go on keihin website and start reading about the needle selection. Each letter on the needle effects different throttle positions . That's the difference between good and great
  15. I did one for sheerider11 trail bike , me personally on a play bike leave it regular
  16. Mikuni 65L/hr pump , fast, redline . I've gotten them through both . There in the parts unlimited catalog also if your local spot has a new account
  17. You might end up at a 42-45 pilot , what needle do you have in there it greatly effects the state of tune on a single. I wouldn't touch that main until you get the needle n pilots worked out . 188 sounds about rite from my experience. After you get the bike idling good you should plug chop it for the main main. If you ride the coals find a good hill and chop it under load on the hill . If you jet it on flat ground you might be lean on a good pull up the hill. Look up proper plug chop and adapt it to the hill
  18. From pics they can be straightened out no problem.
  19. 52-55 pilot, 175 ish main , shh needle 4th clip
  20. For shits and giggles I would try a d series needle if you get bored. You might pick up some bottom grunt under load .
