  1. cooling heads wont help unless you up the compression, reeds help throttle response, and his jetting might already be ok. So anyways, assuming you can drive the bike as best as possible AND you have traction, get a port job. It's the best bang for the buck.
  2. Take out the clutch actuator and push the rod all the way in. See if the end is mushroomed. If it's mushroomed or anything inside is messed up(other end could be mushroomed), you gotta push it out from the back. That means splitting the cases. I did just that about 2 months ago. Get yourself a pancake bearing while you are at it so it wont happen again. You can turn your engine upside down so you dont have to take the juggs/head off. Makes things a little quicker. Just be careful and put your shift forks in the right channel.
  3. is your porting adjusted or will be adjusted for CPI's?
  4. Oh i thought Procol Harum was the original singer. Good to know. As for the plugs, gonna do a plug chop next weekend. I beat on it so ima leave it rich whatever that size it happens to be and run a little extra oil. Since my bike doesnt have 6th, i want a little extra protection.
  5. No keep the suzuki. trying to make a banshee have low end money is a waste of money imo. With a 2 in1 and all the crap you gonna buy, you are almost have the price of a used 400ex. And a 400ex will almost always have WAY more TQ than a banshee. Basically, you want TQ for playing/trails, keep the 4 stroke. even 450's feel like they run out of steam on top compared to a banshee. That's just the nature of them.
  6. Yeah, one carb wasnt getting enough fuel. It was running try due to one float not being set correctly. So disregard this thread. The plug chop was not done properly. Thanks though for looking. Gonna do a proper one next weekend and see where i am at. Should be a breeze.
  7. You need a dyno to see where you stop making power. Other than that, it's guessing. You could always go by the seat of the pants feel and try different things till you feel it's performing it's best.
  8. went from 165-155 now. same thing. I just think the right carb isnt getting the fuel. Ill tear into it tomorrow. God damn there goes my trip for tomorrow.
  9. went to a plug chop since my bike was finally able to be held WOT w/o falling flat. I've got 162 mains on there with my 4mil set up with 30oko's(sea level). but that doesnt matter. Every bike is different. It pulls like a raped ape till almost topped out then "blurps" then kinda doesnt wanna rev out although rpm's stay constant. Seems like it's loading up because it cant get to the peak rpm like it should. Hence the plug chop. I think i should go one size lower on the mains. I'm a bit rich. http://rc.superdave2u.com/MyBanshee/plugch...ns6-31-09-1.JPG http://rc.superdave2u.com/MyBanshee/plugch...ns6-31-09-2.JPG http://rc.superdave2u.com/MyBanshee/plugch...ns6-31-09-3.JPG http://rc.superdave2u.com/MyBanshee/plugch...ns6-31-09-4.JPG thoughts....?
  10. I like to rub the cylinders and sweet talk it a little. wait what?
  11. +1 set up goes a long way. When i first got ported all i read was ported banshees spank 4 strokes easy. Then i learned the truth about setup and just as important. Traction. BTW, next time get some vids!!!
  12. A bunch of us are going to Mississippi and ride some sand. I'm not even sure i will make it though.
  13. i think i went up just 1 main size when i went from t5's to cpi's. I ended up at a 320 or 330. Try a plug chop and see what it looks like.
  14. with so many variables, you just never know. If i was about to watch the race, ida put money on the yfz. Although if you can get a ported banshee to hook off the line and throughout the race, it's a pretty decent drag bike for something not drag/track only specific.
  15. 150 kph is about 93.21mph. You must have some pretty good gearing to go that quick. Right now i dont have 6th because of my override. I really miss 6th gear . But with my bike, im more worried about how fast it gets to top of 5th instead. With regular 20's in the back it sucks kinda but with some 22" tall pro wedges it's damn near perfect for drag racing with 15/41 gearing. I've got a 16t front but IMO that will probably be to much for my play riding.
  16. 80 is pretty fast for that gearing. I went about 71 with bolt ons. Went 80ish with portwork but i was able to rev higher.
  17. Make sure the caps are screwed on tight. The little tip on the plugs are on tight. Check for spark. Put the plug on the engine and have someone kick it over. If not, check all ground as said. You might of even unplugged the orange or black wire on the coil. It's right near the engine head. I've done that before. Nevermind if one is firing both are. Sry. If it's getting spark, then check the fuel lines. Make sure they are somewhat level so that both carbs are getting fuel. If the "T" in the line isnt level, one carb might not be getting fuel. Easy to see if you have clear lines. You need air, fuel, spark and compression. Something is missing.
  18. I hear stupid ass anti brand comments like that daily since i drive a damn ford.
  19. I personally would like a picture(not a silhouette) of a banshee in black in white. I remember someone posted a shirt from 2004 in another thread. It would look nice on a plain white t.
  20. A win's a win. period. Plus it's pretty stupid not to go WOT in a drag race. So i guess you didnt video it
  21. This is just opinions. Some people dont even break in their engines. Some builders just say ride it like you normally do. and sometimes the engines hold up fine.
  22. Not sure if this will help but i have a 4mil with port work. 30 okos etc. Anyways, 48 pilot, air screw 2 turns out and i forgot the needle clip. I think 2nd from the top. I tuned my pilot/air screw with the bike in neutral. I just let it idle and blimped the throttle till it was nice and crisp off idle. I cant comment on my exact settings on the needle and main because im battling engine trouble. I believe it's a bad CDI or stator. Where's this bog you are talking about? I ran stock carbs on my bike for a very short time. Ran great. You dont need bigger carbs.
