  1. IMO , Take engine out and disassemble. Problem should be obvious.
  2. IMO, stick with OEM. I have seen on this forum that others have had some luck with aftermarket but OEM cdi boxes are great.
  3. If all you are looking for is beating a trx with a 310 kit you can do that with a good set of pipes and proper jetting. Now with that being said , 4 mill is a great option but educate yourself on all the differnt options. There are many different 4mill kits out there. IMO run one without any spacer plate and get custom cut domes. And be carefull there are 4mill cranks out there without longer rods. If you go 4mil, go with a long rod and use 795 pistons. With that being said, a stock crank, stock rod poerted banshee will run hard, even without the PWK28's. There is no doubt a 4mil is a better way to go but if you already have a stock crank that is welded then port it and enjoy.
  4. My bad , I dont know what i was thinking. Brain fart I guess. ( man do I feel like an idiot ) 0 ohms = direct contact OL = open(no resistace)
  5. Not to be a smart ass but did you double check the wire connectors to make sure you have a good conection? Its easy not to get them pluged in all the way. 0 ohms is an open circiut, so logic would would say disconected. Maybe even a broken connection at the stator. Keep in mind covering the basic's in trouble shooting problems can save time and money. hope this helps.
  6. You might check with Bay city Yamaha in Coos Bay / North Bend Oregon. The last time I was there they had 2 refirbushed sets for sale. I dont remember the price but I do remeber they were cheap for all 3 shocks. If I remember right 1 set was set for a 180 lbs rider and the other was for a 250 lbs rider. If you are wondering about the quality of bay city Yamaha , They are a first class outfit. They are located a stones throw away from the Oregon dunes and move ALOT of product. They were selling performance banshee parts when j arms were the cool thing to have. But they are refirbushed and not new.
  7. Thats because your oil is in your tranny and in the fuel tank, I was trying help clairify how methanol can turn ENGINE OIL into looking like it has coolant in it . Anyone who has run methanol on a 4 stroke engine has ran across this. I am not trying to bust anyones chops , I am just trying to help.
  8. I agree with the fact that methanal can show signs as if you had coolant in the engine oil. I have ran it for years on UMP modfieds (dirt racecars). It seemed to show it worse when the engine was started and not let to run up to operating temp. It was nothing to start the engine let it run for say 5 minutes pull the valve covers and WOW alot of milky buildup on the bottom side of valve cover, yet if you stuck the valve cover back on with out cleaning it and ran it say 15 more minutes until it hit 175 or so, pull the same valve cover and it was gone, pull the pan drain plug and the oil was beutiful. But if you started the engine and just reved it up a few times and let it idle for a couple minutes to show off to your buddies say 3 times in one week, the engine oil can look like your picture. I do not run methanal on banshees but I would think the same would apply to the engine. Thus being said, We dont have oil in our crankcase, we have oil in our tranny. It appers from the picture that is what you are draining. If thats the case I would suspect the o-ring on the coolant tube that goes into the clutch cover or water pump seal. With all this said I am not a banshee expert. I do not know much about epoxied cases. So if the somehow epoxied a drain plug into the crankcase ( dont see why they would ) and you got that much oil out of the epoxied drain plug, My logic would say Did it ever run? Now last but not least, another cause could be water intrusion( and thats why I think you mentioned the epoxied case ) from rideing in water . If the epoxy was not sealing and allowing water to intrude into the engine, I would think you would have other issues long before you notcied this. Now if the epoxy was somehow envolved in sealing the tranny and it was degraded and let water in. I would suspect you would have an tranny leak while rideing. Keep in mind as I stated above I am not an expert on these and know nothing about epoxied cases. I just through this out there cuz I was trying to help clairify the alcohol and oil issue.
  9. No problem, It seems I stuck my foot in my mouth as I got my info from sherif Dept. I have been though at least 10 sound checks by forest service and never once has a spark arrestor been addresed. check this out, It states alot of good info if your into knowing the laws. It appears we need to carry a shovel and a gallon of water too.. I wonder when those checkpoints will show up. My link
  10. Welcome from all of us here in the U.S. You can get alot out of your stock cylinders with GOOD port work, good intake system and good pipes. 4 mill crankshaft with 5 mill long rod is a great option too. With stock cylinders you can keep the pipes you have. But from what you are saying you might want to send your cylinders to the united states to be ported. Have them ported by someone who is known to do good port work.
  11. OK let me start by saying I have payed 2 noise tickets at the Oregon dunes. Just a little heads up from my past dealings with the noise natzi on the dunes. 1st the csfx stingers claim to be Oregon forest service approved. To the best of my knowalge Oregon forest service requires 99db with the eception of the Oregon dunes and that is 92db. My good friend got a noise ticket with a set of csfx stingers that were fairly new (4 trips to the dunes if I remember right). Now keep in mind I am not downing the cascade silincers they are a GREAT product and cascade is a great place to do business. With my many dealings with the popo I payed attention to what they had to say. I am in no way quoteing the law enforcement I am just stateing what I got out of it. 1. There are 2 different enforcements out on the dunes. Sherif's and Forest service 2. Sherif office doesn't enforce the noise as hard as forest service. They give tickets for noise but the sheriff's are a little more laxed. If you have a banshee with t5's and you are tested and you are at 98db they tell you to pack your silencers., But the forest service would give you a ticket. 3. On one of my tickets from forest service I asked them how do know mine is above the db limit buy just hearing me ride by you? They told me, 98% of banshees with aftermarket pipes are above the limit. Only t5's with the hush kit and stock pipes and silencers pass the 92db on a regular basis. 4. If you get a noise ticket they will drop the first ticket if you mail them a picture of your bike with stock pipes installed on it. So IMHO Run the pipes you like, If you see forest service, go the other way without drawing attention, If you see sherif's, keep it cool and don't act stupid ride normal and you will probibly be ok. Every sherif I have delt with over there has told me they are not out to be a noise cop, if you are acting like an ass they might use noise as a reason to pull you over and talk to you but they realise its hard to get a nice performing quad to 92db(2 or 4 stroke). If you get trapped in one of thier noise test traps they like to do keep this in mind, differnt years of banshees ommited higher db's than other years. I do not know what years omitted higher db's but this information is known to forest service so lets say a 92 shee was reported (to some goverment agency that forest service gets its info from) to omit 92 db stock and a 88 shee was reported to omit 87 db stock the forest service and sherif use this info to guage how over stock you are not just how loud you are, thus they can judge your disrespect for the laws. This is why the first thing noise natzi ask's you is what year is your banshee, then when you fail the noise test they say a 92 banshee only omitted 92 db. But lets say you measured 97 db thats only 5 db over what a 92 shee left the dealer with, Thats not bad and you minght get away with an fyi you need to pack your silencers. But in that same sinerio with an 88 shee would be you would be 10 db over stock and that raises eyebrows .... I do not have or know the db for every year of shee but I know is different from year to year, I have seen the card they use 1 time and to the best of my memory it didn't follow a scale that said older shees were louder. It seemed to jump back and forth from year to year. And just incase you didn't know, an USFS spark arrester is not required at the Oregon dunes. Just an FYI to everyone, Coos county sherf has a banshee as one of their patrol atv's . It was built by bay city yamaha and it has csfx silencers on it. I have seen it and I have sat on it. No joken. I wonder what db it's at? I didn't mean for this to be so long winded, I just wanted to put this info out there.
  12. Coushins wear over time , mine have about 5 weekends on them over the past 6 months, when I say a little play I am talking .005 to .010.
  13. Ok I just got my engine back into my shee, I put a new crank in it. I did it buy the book. I have built 4 or 5 complete engines on banshee's so I wouldnt concider myself an idiot on them. So I start it up and all seems well until I shut it down and it raddles. After a few times of trying to find it I found if you listen close you can hear it intermitantly with engine running not just when it shuts down. I sounds like a spray paint can with no paint in it and someone is shaking it except it comes and goes. If I hold clutch in it will go away after about 10 or 15 seconds, It doesnt sound like a clutch basket, and I really notice the noise from behind chain drive sproket. and if clutch is held in while shutting engine off it doesnt raddle. during rebuild I didnt get to far in the tranny I pulled shafts cleaned then soaked in atf before assembly, but the bearings at the end of the shafts looked good. No missing teeth on gears and if shifts into every gear fine. With engine running I removed the dipstick to try to help isolate the noise and even with dipstick removed the noise is still more pronounced on stater side. I removed stater cover and ran engine and sounds like it coming from behind sproket. Any ideas????? Can a kicker idler cause this noise on the opisite side of engine? Mine was a little loose but nothing I would concider eccsive.. My clutch basket was in good shape with hardly any play.
  14. X2 Come on people how many street rods do you see with a winch ? (Other than in the passenger seat). Let me guess you want pink plastics too..... Please buy a 4 stroke!!!!!!!!
