Usually when we go riding I'm the guy in the background who rides toward the back of the pack and doesn't say much. At the track I had a lot of people coming up to me introducing themselves. That felt good to get the respect. I was the only Banshee out there. There were mostly 400exs, 450rs and 250rs... it was a Honda day. The biggest thrill was having guys with tricked out 250rs asking me how to clear some of the jumps. One guy with a 400ex and a 250r who races frequently said he had to give me props, that I could really jump that Banshee. He said he used to own one and knows how hard they are to jump. I think I may have blushed.

I've been trying to get my Shee and myself ready for MX for a while now, but I've never even been to a race. I went to my first real track last Saturday. We paid $10 and rode all day. The track was huge and had everything from doubles, step-ups, berms, timing section, you name it! After 2 laps around that sucker I was exhausted at first. I got more used to it and could go several laps at a time after a while though. There was a 90ft step-up triple in the back of the track which a couple dirt bikes were hitting and one kid on a 400ex. After working up a little nerve me and my friends were doubling it. A few times I overshot it and landed at the beginning of the third jump. I got to thinking... one more gear and I should be able to triple that thing. I came around, clicked up into 5th (I think), and sure enough didn't make it. I'm sure if it would have been a regular triple I'd have made it, but with it being a step-up I fell short. I nailed the face of the third jump and bounced over it. After that I rolled off the track and took a breather. The landing knocked the breath out of me and hit the frame. After a couple minutes I was alright and I've been thinking... maybe in 6th... Anyway, we didn't have an official race or anything but I did race a couple guys I usually ride with for a couple laps. Usually I'm doing good to keep up with them in the woods, but I was a different animal on the track. I passed them and was grinning from ear to ear. There's an arenacross race close by on Feb. 5 I'm thinking about entering. I know arenacross races are smaller and maybe not where a Banshee would excel but I'm pumped. I just wanted to share my glee. Thanks for the attention!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...item=4517992024 Can I still run my heal guards with these nerf bars? I know it's probably a little late to ask since I've already won the auction, I was just wanting to know what to expect. Thanks.

The needle isn't going to help much with full throttle. The only way to tell for sure on the main is to do a WOT test. Just ask if you need help with that. The needle regulates fuel flow the most at half-throttle. It doesn't do much at no throttle or full throttle. One thing I've noticed with the single carb is that it doesn't quite rev out as high. I thought it was the jetting at first but I think that's just the sacrifice you make.
-
I'm running 48/185, but that's with the 35PWK. If it cranks and idles fine leave the pilot alone for now and concentrate on the needle and main. Do a WOT test to see if the main is right, then just change the needle clip position up and down until you find the sweet spot.
-
Yeah, if you take the airbox lid off with stock carbs it'll do the same thing.
-
You have to buy the whole cage/reeds.
-
I might bid on them. I wouldn't mind having a little more bottom end. What kinda paint is that? Will it come off?
-
That's the picture I was looking for. Some people put the thermometer up where the tank shroud and rad cover meet so they don't have to drill a hole. I'd imagine it would be kinda hard to read there though.
-
Depends on what you're doing. As long as you don't go crazy and put a 12t sprocket on a ported stroker, or a 19t on a stock Shee I don't think there is a bad or good ratio. You just have to try different sizes and find what works for you. I'd probably stick with 14/41 on a stock motor myself... unless you're drag racing, then maybe a 15/41.
-
There is a small line running from the top of your radiator. You just T into that. I can't find any pics or I'd show ya. Anyway, I drilled a small hole on top of the tank shroud and mounted it there.
-
I agree with the 14/42 gearing. I would recommend the ProFlow air filter setup. You can keep your airbox and ditch the lid if you'd like.
-
That's basically the same as the meat thermometer mod which I'm running. It works very well, but doesn't look quite as trick as using an auto gauge.

I currently have 120psi on both cylinders. I'm about to put a Trinity modified head on which should boost me to about 155psi. My question is how to tell when a rebuild is needed. I know on stock cylinders you need to do it when you get close to 100psi.
-
I thought that too... so when I lined up for a race I popped the clutch in 2nd. I let off of it pretty quick. I guess starting in second would work as long as you feathered the clutch. Nobody will race me on pavement so I don't have much experience. The 4 stroke guys know they'd lose their holeshot advantage. With my Razrs I'm dropping the clutch in 3rd in sand. That's with 14/44 gearing. I'm about to go to 14/40.
-
Get ya a 13 and slap it on there. You can get one from RMATV for about $10. Some people will like lower gearing, some won't. Higher gearing is better for drag racing, but in the woods... I'm not sure. It'll just be trial and error.

Don't ya hate it when you reply to a retarded thread, accidently subscribing yourself to it? Especially when one gets constant replies such as this one. My email admin is gonna kick my ass. How do you unsubscribe to a thread anyway? The "View Subscriptions" link referred to in the email doesn't seem to exist.
-
Oh, so I don't want that... got ya. Thanks!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...sspagename=WDVW What is that smaller lever for?
-
That would pretty much get you back to stock gearing. I'm attaching an Excel spreadsheet I got off this board some time ago that can help.
-
That's why kids shouldn't play with guns.
-
This may sound like a stupid question, but how do you know if a cylinder dies on ya? I mean, I fouled a plug one time and immediately knew which cylinder it was by the exhaust. How could you tell with the 2 into 1?
-
My motor only overheats when doing donuts or riding through the woods in 1st or 2nd. It doesn't overheat at all in the winter.
-
I'm about to get a Trinity modified head from someone for $80. If I have cooling problems I'll just switch to Engine Ice... actually I'll probably do that regardless after hearing how great it works. An aftermarket head would definately be the best option, but it ain't cheap. I think Noss has the cheapest.
