  1. That's what I've been running since I got the bike. What kinda problems did you have?
  2. Funny the Amsoil 100:1 is cheaper than your cheap oil and they guarantee your engine would melt down due to the oil. Ain't gonna get that at Walmart. 100:1 is like 7$ a quart around here. what price are you getting it for? Well, mixing 100:1 will give you 3x as much fuel as 32:1 would. I think that's the reasoning behind saying it's cheaper, which makes sense.
  3. Jackson, MS. We have a couple sand pits we ride at sometimes. Pretty sick jumps. We're trying to figure a way back to the Pearl River, that used to be the most popular place to go. The guys I ride with said LA Dunes wasn't all that great so I dunno if I'll go there, but they are planning a trip to Oklahoma this summer I might join in on. My Razrs probably work as good as Holeshots. They hook up decent enough for jumping and such, I just get wooped in the occasional drag.
  4. I was actually looking at the Klaws. So you think they're really good in all conditions? Like sand? Are they pretty heavy?
  5. Yeah, all your opinions make sense. I continue to run the same oil I have been and just choke down the high prices. I'm starting to get back in the habit of hanging out with a guy who fanatically rides every weekend so I'll probably start investing in the gallons. But if I get in a pinch, I'll head right to AutoZone and grab the cheap stuff for a quick ride. I see what ya'll mean about keeping the same oil though. They all have different weights.
  6. What are the best all around tires to get? I'm looking for 20" ones that will grip good in anything from sand to hardpack. I've got Razrs now and they don't grab a bit in sand. I used to have some Bearclaws and they seemed pretty good but were heavy and only available in 22" and up.

  8. I rode with someone that has a 450r Saturday. That thing is pretty bad. I didn't get to ride it but he did some awesome jumping. I dragged him in sand and I got smoked but that would be mainly due to tires. He said the YFZ450 has just slightly more power than him, but not much. He also said he could take anything within a couple hundred feet, but I'd get him in the long run.
  9. I've been running Castor and don't plan to stop. Would it cause any problems to run some oil from AutoZone every once in a while though?
  10. I wear contacts and frequently find myself getting dust in my eyes, even with goggles. I can't tell you how scary it is to be heading up a jump in 3rd when suddenly a contact slides off your pupil and focus and depth perception become null. My question is what goggles to get. I've had a pair of cheap Smith and cheap Scott goggles and neither really did the job fully.
  11. There are many debates and opinions on which premix oil is better, but is there really a difference? Gas is gas and it doesn't matter if it comes from Exxon or Amoco. Does oil really matter? A riding mate wanted me to go riding today and I told him I was out of oil and all the ATV shops are closed. He said I could pick up 2 stroke oil anywhere and that it really didn't matter what you use. That just got me thinking.

  13. My bad, I replied right after you posted. Just get the TORS elimination kit from somewhere. This is a good excuse to do it. I'll be glad when I get rid of those clunky things.
  14. Sorry, I'm at work right now but I'll respond when I get home if I can. Ya know, the slides do have a couple grooves the pin could slide up on. There is a narrow one which goes all the way up the slide and there's another one that only goes about halfway. If one of the slides is using the "halfway" groove, it could cause excessive revving. Having the needles leaned out so much would definately cause to rev like crazy, but only once the throttle is pulled a little. I would suggest starting from scratch. Tighten the cable nuts all the way down to give you the most slack, then turn the TORS knobs all the way to give the most slack (sorry, can't remember if that's clockwise or not).
  15. You can get the slides in the wrong carbs by turning the slides around backwards. Then the pin slides through the correct groove in the slide, but is facing the opposite direction. What are you using to adjust the idle? Are you using the nuts where the cables enter the TORS or the bigger knobs on top of the TORS facing the seat? The ones facing the seat are the ones you use.
  16. Your idle is too high dude. Pulling out the choke richens the mix so much it's bogging down your motor. Lower the idle as far as it will go, give it a little throttle and fire it up. It won't idle like that but at least maybe you'll see what I'm talking about.
  17. Your mains will have very little to do with what it does at idle. It could be that one or both of your pilot jets are clogged, but it sounds more like something with your throttle cables or idle. Try turning the idle way on down and see what happens.
  18. You're right. The flat part should be on the cylinder side. The throttle cable is what it sounds like to me. After you put the slides back in, look in the carbs and blip your throttle to make sure both slides move in sync.

  21. Thanks for breaking that down for me. I failed Chemistry. Another question... when pouring a bottle of oil in the gas can, the bottle never completely empties which leaves just a little oil in the bottle. Is that amount insignificant enough I can still use 5 gallons of gas and be at 40:1, or would that be more like 41:1?
  22. If you put the slides in the wrong carbs, you'd be running super-rich. That could be it, but I don't see how pulling the choke would help or even how it would idle like that.
  23. But doesn't the increased length of that manifold make it impossible to fit the airbox in?

    I hate making offers cause I'm always afraid I'm going to offend the person. I don't know how much the shipping would be, but how does $15 shipped sound? I can get both complete lights for $40 so I don't wanna go too high on a lens and mirror, but just let me know if that sounds unreasonable.
