what causes oil dripping from silencers?
Satsol67 replied to quadfever54's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I use amsoil with a 40:1 mix and mine doesnt have oil dripping out the pipes. I have read were other mix it 50:1 without any problems. It worries me to mix it that lean. -
I wasnt suggesting that you experment on your good ones. I have a set with a bore can be used again. I would never play around with my only working set. (that would be stupid) But for those like me that have some to test on with more people trying and showing thier progress others would learn. Course this is just my opion.

Why is it such a big secret on porting? Why dont people post pics of good port jobs? All that I have seen posted it the ones that are messed up. If it is so hard to do then posting good pics shouldnt be such a big deal.

Thanks for the info. I will stick to the prolites. Ron

I am very intrested in learning how to do the home porting as well. I am in the same boat as alot of other people and dont have the 500 bucks to have it done. I would like to try it out on the set of cylinders I have laying around. So if anyone would be so kind to post the templete that would be great. Plus it would be helping others learn.

Not to pick at words but you offered 2200 shipped. I have never shipped anything like this but i would guess it would be very expencive. I am sorry if i upset anyone. When i listed it i was in dire need for the $$$$ but something else came up so I dont have to get rid of it now. I love my shee and dont want to part with it if i dont have to. Once again I am sorry if I upset anyone.. :shoothead: Ron

Has anyone tried Platinum Pistons made by WSM? They are cheaper then wiseco but are they as good? btw I am looking for a set of stock ones if anyone has some that they dont need. Thanks Ron

I think I'm just going to hold on to it and fix it. I dont want to sell it it is just money is tight. After it is fixed i will think about relisting it. I dont think 2k is to much for it with all the after market parts that are on it when all it will cost is 150 bucks to fix and have a great bike. Thanks for all the PM's guys but as i said i am going to fix it first. Ron

WOW no one wants it. Oh well.

Its a 2000 Red and White Shee, T5 pipes with Toomey silencers, Pro Design Cool Head, Boysen Reeds, Dura Blue X33 axle, ITP Rims w/ Maxxis Razr2 Tires, Lone Star A arms & Swinger, New Tusk Clutch Bands and spings. I'm sure it has a few other things that i can't remember. It does need a new top end. One of the pistons crapped out on me. I have it a part and the cylinders are on great shape. All they need is a hone with new pistons and its ready to ride. It is a stock bore. I am looking for 2k for it and i live in the South Carolina area in the upstate. If you need pics of the cylinders or any other thing just let me know. Thanks Ron

I changed the clutch bands with Tusks. All seemed to go well. I did have a question. When I took the old ones out i noticed there were plastic rings that went along the bottom of the old fiber ones. Did I need to put those back in? The new set didnt come with any. Thanks Ron

Clutch Plates, fibers w heavy duty springs
Satsol67 replied to Satsol67's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Thank you. I will have it this week. -
Hi, I just ordered clutch plates and fibers w/ the heavy duty springs from RMATV and I have a few questions. 1 If I use the heavy duty springs will it make the tug on the clutch cable much harder? or should I just leave the ones that are in it? 2 Is there any specail trick in replacing them? From the way the book looks like it they are offset. Is that correct? 3 Am i going to need a specail tool to remove the pressure plate? Thanks Ron

Tusk Clutch Kit / Heavy duty Springs
Satsol67 replied to Satsol67's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Thanks for all the imput guys. I think I will wait until Rocky has more in. Ron -
If anyone has a brand new set of Tusk Clutch band with springs please pm me or you can email to [email protected] Thanks Ron

I finaly saved up a little extra cash to get a set of Tusk Clutch Kit w/ Heavy Duty Springs and they are out of stock.. Boooo My question is. Should I wait for them or get EBC? Most of my riding isnt hard riding. More trail riding then anything alse. The reason I am going to replace them is the clutch slips when i really get on it. I have to back down so everything can catch up. If any one has some they want to part with let me know. Thanks Ron

Mine came with one and after time it cracked the intakes where the bottle goes. When I took mine off it ran better. I just plugged the holes with some copper caps I found at lowes. I also noticed that both sides would smoke evenly with it off. Before the ride side would smoke more then the left. just my O2

looked like just age. The outside of the hose came off. At first I thought the tierod ending nut was hitting it but I dont think that was it. I can take a pic if you want to see.

I have a stupid question. I noticed my hose that goes from the water pump to the radiator is going bad so i used a peice of 3/4 heater hose. It is just a little bit smaller but will it be ok? I had to force it over the water pump inlet but it fit just fine on the radiator. Thanks

banshee pinging/tapping at top end
Satsol67 replied to gixxerider's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Really? I have been running AMSOIL at 40:1 and I was wondering if I could mix it 50:1. -
Good chance this is a dumb question but i am going to ask anyhow. I noticed that when i go to 5th or 6th gear the clutch will slip when i get on it. Once i get half way or more on the gas it will slip like crazy. I have to back off and slowly give it the gas. My question is does that mean the clutch bans are worn? or will an adjustment fix this? I just want to have an idea what i am getting into before i pull the cover off. Thanks

Do a search on it i have seen someone post a pic on how it looks before and after. From what i have read it makes shifting easyer and finding nutral easyer.

Does anyone know where i can look localy for new exhaust clamps? I tried the auto parts store with no luck. He suggested going to a boat place. The ones on ebay are 25 bucks. I guess i am just a cheap ass 25 bucks for 2 little pieces of hose it a bit much. IMO Thanks
