  1. heres the thing about why people push porting. you can add up all the performance benefits of a head, reeds, timing, air filter etc and all of those items wont even have 50% of the gains of a port job. plus all that stuff costs the same if not more than porting. the 2 biggest gains on a stock banshee are pipes and porting. ill assume from here on out that everyone here already has pipes. thats probably the first thing any banshee owner gets. look at the cost of porting. you can get a good port job for between $170 and $400. throw in a top end gasket kit for another $20. if you need new pistons another $160. so between the cost of $200 and $580 you could have youre cylinders ported. now look at the cost of bolt ons. reeds: $220 timing plate: $35 + $15 flywheel tool cool head: $260 filter: $30 total cost $560 to summarise, porting, $580. bolt ons, $560. the ported bike WILL have more power, alot more. im not going to throw out horsepower numbers because this is a very generic post and didnt even consider what type of porting would be done, the type of pipes, etc.
  2. do a compression test and pull the head. for all we know the exhaust oring could be blown out. that will make it sound like that.
  3. ive done a little simlutaion work with the stock pipes and to be honest they dont seem to have the geometry for high rpm power. i think you could build a mean midrange motor with them however. grab an adjustable timing plate, thats a nice gain and its hidden so no one will know. have the stock head cut and oringed. again a good increase and no one will know. stick a k&n in the stock airbox but remove the snorkel. cut out the divider in the lid's opening for more flow. no one will know about that either. you could have a nice midrange motor for pretty cheap. but dont expect it to run as well as the piped bikes on the faster parts of youre riding.
  4. i have 2 and 3. 2 is more realistic but 3 has more stunting. 2 has a trinity banshee also.
  5. #3 was all fake, and they favoured 4 strokes heavily.
  6. when i was 15 i sported a full beard. never got id'd. never needed a fake id.
  7. ive got a nearly new stock impeller. my banshee doesnt have an hour meter but i would guess its been used for about 15 hours. its off my banshee. the blades and shaft are in excellent condition. im asking $15 and ill ship for free to anywhere in the 48.
  8. someone set a date and lets do it. i personally would like to go when it is not hot at all, and when there is not a huge crowd to fight through.
  9. camping is great and all but my dad is 15 minutes from there. im sure you could stay over the weekend at his place.
  10. i would say tyres are youre biggest problem. i was dragging some other banshees a few weekends ago and they had paddles, they would get me out of the hole every single time and have a few bike lengths on me by the 60 foot because i was running stock dunlop tyres. from a rolling start however, i would beat them by a few bike lengths. good tyres seem to be a very important key to getting out of the hole quickly.
  11. i could do spring.
  12. to do a 4 mill you have to get it ported anyways. so you might as well do both.
  13. last weekend i noticed on 2 occasions a clicking and squealing sound comming from the right side of the motor. it only lasted for 10 seaconds each time. it didnt matter if i was in gear or neutal, clutch in or out, moving or at a stop. i almost think it was comming from the waterpump area, but upon disassembly my waterpump looks perfect.
  14. its a fuckin long haul from south florida but i dont care. ill have to get some paddles. has anyone been to LS? whats the scoop on rv hookups, buying gas, showers? restrooms, that kind of stuff. do you need some special use sticker or anything....
  15. funny thing about myspace. it requires email activation when you sign up. i have never signed up for myspace but one day i got an activation email. curiously enough, some girl who i dont know signed up for myspace and typed in a random email address for her profile. this email address that she typed in happens to be mine so i got the activation email. i clicked the link in the email to activate the account. now some random girl who i never met has a myspace page and she still uses it. once in a while ill log into her myspace to snoop around. here it is My URL http://www.myspace.com/52438948
  16. dealer warranty are bs. i had a 6 month warranty on my banshee and i bought it brand new. after 5 hours of riding, i went to change the oil and the drain plug was tighter than a 12 year old back injury. i ended up stripping the drain bolt's 6 sides and also messing up my socket. i took it to the dealer, they wouldnt drill out the plug, or give me a new one. they wants $45/hour labour to drill and tap the hole, and $20 somthing for a new drain plug. they claimed i used an adjustable wrench on it. well how would they know because they were not in my garage with me! i ended up using a pipe wrench on it and i got it out, man it was in there tight. not i got a nedoium plug off ebay for $12 and its got a rubber gasket so i install it just a hair tighter than figer tight. the short story is that dealers suck and look for ways to weasel out of warranty work.
  17. my neighbor has one. they are really reliable. hes had it for years and NEVER changed the oil. he just tops the oil off once in a while after he remembers to check it. usually its really low on oil though sence he barely remembers to check it. i swaer to you he abuses the piss out of that thing. i mean he does things to that engine that i wouldnt do to a heroin addicted stripper in a back alley behind toys-r-us. that 400ex engine has got to be one of the toughest engines in the world. i know my banshee engine wouldnt last 5 minutes in neutral with the throttle pinned. ive seem him do that quite a few times as some stupid way of bragging that his engine is indestructable. maybe his engine is worn, but its not that fast. my banshee with stock pipes could beat that thing into submission on the trails or flat ground. ive never ridden a 400ex besides his though.
  18. i think ya got it backwards. a banshee is like a muscle car. its fast in a straight line but doesnt handle as well as other quads. a 450r would be more like a porsche. handles better than a shee, not as much raw power. also cost more too. and costs more to mod.
  19. men have been taking dumps in women restrooms for decades now illegally in that city. now that its legal NOTHING has changed except the legality of it all.
  20. you dont actually need a computer. they have standalone wideband readers out now for a couple hundred. daogejr, you said you wanted to see one for a couple hundred and you would purchase one. this one is made by NGK so you gotta figure its a pretty good unit. get youre cc out. its $249 http://www.jscspeed.com/index.html?/univ/e...ics/ngk_afx.htm ill be interested to hear youre results once you have it up and running. imo, standalone is alot more compatible with something like a banshee or streetbike so you dont have to lug around a laptop. as for me ill stick to plug reading. wideband would be nice but im not a racer. i can afford to lose a bit of power by running a little rich.
  21. 75 is a long highway. what area/town/intersection/state do you live off?
  22. quads are not fuel efficent at all. i get about 10mpg out of my banshee just cruising around 35mph on smooth road. years ago there was a company in south florida that made quad conversions. they claimed they could make any quad street legal. i remember seeing some of their quads around down, it looked like alot of fun. for some reason they went out of buisness. i remember they ran car wheels, like 17's and shit. it was crazy.
  23. if i come out on nov 10 11 and 12 will i be able to do any pratcing on the track? i know its got no tree, no sprinklers, etc. but can i run it just for practice?
  24. the fuel injection point is right on. whenever a new development comes out there are all these assholes who are scared of new things and wont consider it. they are the ones who awalys get left behind because they run dated shit and wont upgrade untill they are one of the last ones left. im supprised some of you old geezers havent found a way to retrofit drum brakes and points ignition on youre banshees. i welcome new technology with open arms, but not for $3400. ill wait for the price to come down. like everyone i have limits.
