Your stator cover wasn't sealing and let water in there. If your old plate looks like that then I can imagine what your stator looks like, and maybe thats the problem...? Get some feeler gauges and set the air gap on the pickup to the flywheel nodes to 18 to 20 thousands of an inch. :thumbsup: good luck and let us know if you figure it out. :beer:

Hmm, what about the air gap on the pick up? Did you set it at 20 thou? Could be a weak spark from an excessive gap. I prefer Klotz to Yamalube, but if you have been using the yamalube for a while and this fouling issue just recently started then I doubt it

sorry, i didn't read the other post you're refering to. RickyStator stators are not always what they're cracked up to be. There is a few guys on here that have had problems with em.

whats it doing? cutting out on the top end? if so, its likely your stator.

Do you have the little piece of glass that goes in there or is it gone? If you still have it, put it back in (with the carb off) and see if it falls in toward the slide or out. If it falls out only, you can push it in until it seats and carefully tap the rim around window with a small center punch to hold it in there. If it falls inward...then that won't work and you'll have to find some other way to seal that hole up. Do not use duct tape or any tape period, that will not stay there for long and you'll end up with an air leak. If you have to, you may be able to epoxy it or even jb weld it closed. Just be sure your slide doesn't hang up on it inside the carb or you'll have bigger problems. That hole must be sealed off to work properly but you don't necessarily need to see through it, you can still sync your cabs w/o it.
