Refer to the chart, if your ok on top and rich down low with a smaller pilot then pick the right needle for the job.
Needle link
You are using a huge pilot jet, I would run something smaller.
I think anyone who can look at a set of pics on a port job and provide what they feel is input as to what the power or job would be is an idiot. So I dont see much sense in posting port job pics without measurements of port heights, window widths, and comparisons of measurements taken before the job and after. Thats what determines what the power will be like.
Pickup gap? Did you connect the yellow stator wire to yellow on the harness, and the black to black on the harness? Flywheel key properly installed. Ground on timing plate hooked up correctly? Did you hit the flywheel or drop it at all? Did you drop the stator at all?
If its top end its either the main jet or the end of the needle taper. Depending on what that carb came off, you cant just always bolt one on and expect it to work right. The carbs can have different slides with different cutouts in them. The mikuni carbs give us trouble unless we put the right nozzles in them.
If you put it on the cylinder side, the biggest thing it helps is moving the a/f mixture into the cylinder past the step in the top of the intake port.
I hear and see all about the 2 into 1.
It is kind of a pain to deal with the pj also. I have a 2 into 1 with pwk 35 and match ported vf3's going on ebay here real soon.
vf3's on a low or mid motor over a set of carbon tech reeds are nothing to swear by. You actually swear at them, cause they cost you about 2 hp. A lot of you guys running dune port motors with certain pipes would actually benefit from the stock cage setup with carbon techs. The vf3 is a high flow cage, and it can only work to its full potential with the step in the top of the intake ramped down on stock cylinders.
205 main, eej needle, 45 pilot jet, center clip on needle, 1.5-2 turns out on air screw. THAT IS A STARTING POINT, carefully check the main. Do the main first, then worry about the needle.
This guy lives in France. I sent him an updated invoice with the higher shipping costs already. He just keeps Emailing me and I don't know what he wants. I am not even sure he knows what condition the pipes are in.
I got those ptr pipes on eBay. Even though I said shipping to lower 48 states, and contact me before bidding if you have neg. feedback in the last 6 months, the f%^$ing french guy bid on them. Its been 3 or 4 days since the auction ended and I cant understand a damn thing he has said in his messages. I will take his message text, put it in Google translate and it makes no sense. I think he is like a 10 year old french kid or has dyslexia, cause the messages don't sound or look right after translation. I need someone who can read this shit and tell me what the hell he is doing.
I floated the ground on a stock stator today, and it seems to rev up ok in the garage. Found a bad plug cap also. Its off to the rear wheel dyno on tuesday for some testing to make sure its running ok. Maybe a little hp number comparison to the crank dyno too!
