My mx/trail 50th anniversary build
Strm Trpr replied to Brooklyn350's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I'm going to have to cut my fenders like that to fit my CPI's too! -
Why 2's over 4's?
-
Just adding to your comment, and not bashing, just trying to help the OP. I verified with my engine builder that the neutral safety switch cover holes do not go thru and the screws do not need sealant or loctite.

He must've had the music cranking and the air compressor roaring while overtightening all of the case nuts with a 1/2" impact gun...
-
I'm trying to figure out how Jason assembled that motor and didn't hear a crunch, and he didn't feel resistance while torqueing things down and then POP! He had to have both felt and heard ^^^ carnage. And I'm glad the "sober" him went against his other self's bad judgement and decided against just running it as is!
-
Yeah, tell me about it.I work with this older guy from Georgia, he's constantly crackin funny comments that I've never heard. I once said, "he shit the bed" and the he said, "and pushed it out with his feet!", I damn near lost it and he was like, "what, you've never pushed it out with your feet before?", now I'm ROFLMAO...
-
Meaning he fuckt up so bad laying the crank in the case that the equivalent would be to shit the bed and push it out with his feet...
-
You shit the bed and pushed it out with your feet on that one...

CPI SB Fitting issues (Need Help)
Strm Trpr replied to Jetnbyu93's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Yeah, I got the unfinished pipes and I'm not impressed with the welds or the puny 1/8" flanges that have two bolts to the silencer. If it's not too much money, I'll have Cam dyno my build with CPI's, Shearers and Snipers. I've ridden SLP's before on a Dune Ported 350 that had Toomey T3's before. It was a huge difference in power delivery. Yeah the SLP's made a shit ton more power down low, but they left me wishing I had a 7th gear. I have yet to try a 15/41 sprocket combo with the SLP's. I hope that's the fix! I've ridden SLP's, T3's, T5's and PC's w/304 silencers. And the PC's are my favorite pipe so far. I sure hope these CPI's fit great and deliver the power right up the face of the power curve! -

CPI SB Fitting issues (Need Help)
Strm Trpr replied to Jetnbyu93's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Cam ported the cylinder and shipped the cylinder and head to me for some color. I finally found the right shop for the job last week and now I know his capabilities so I'm having a lot more parts done now. I'm dropping everything else off tomorrow morning. Then when the parts are done I'm going to ship everything to Cam for the final build and dyno tune w/CPI's. I hope he can dyno the motor with Snipers too. -

I sure as fuck hope my CPI's fit my Serval with no issues. I'm running a CP head, 33mm PWK's and UPP intakes. -
Keihin Jetting to temperature changes questions...
Strm Trpr replied to jayzx10r's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Is it sluggish because it's too rich when it's 85*? If so, you can try raising the needle clip to the second notch from blunt end to lower the needle into the needle jet effectively leaning out the mid-range and top end. Next, if off idle is sluggish and your pilot is spot on you can try turning the air screws out to lean out the off idle to mid-range response. If that doesn't give you the desired affect, I'd drop a pilot size and a main or two, but who the hell wants to open their carbs twice a day to rejet. I'm assuming you're in Glamis with those gnarly temp swings so opening carbs in the dunes is no way advisable unless you're up to it. -
FWIW, I had the following mods: T5's stk head stk bore stk port chariot non cross-over billet intakes chariot billet reeds stk carbs K&N pods w/outers +4* timing 91 octane running 40:1 and I ran the following jetting at sea level at Pismo Beach in Commifornia any where from 60-85* F. stk needles, clip in 4th groove 27.5 Pilots 310 mains airscrews 1.5 turns out carbs sync'd and idle set to 1,500 rpms I tried 30 pilots and it was a lazy pig and required a shit ton of clutch fanning to keep it on the pipe. I lowered the needle and put the clip in the 3rd groove and that helped make it tolerable for the weekend. However, my pre-mix is 40:1 and it has more parts per million fuel molecules than oil molecules than say someone running 32:1 pre-mix. Therefore my jetting will need to be leaner than some one running 32:1. Dune ported 4 mil stk cyl motors with similar bolt ons will run 30 pilots and 330-350 mains.

Clutch Side Transmission Vent Elimination?
Strm Trpr replied to Strm Trpr's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Oh yeah? But doesn't that hole allow dirt, sand etc into and under the water pump cover? On another note, do you guys have any tips for removing stuck on clutch cover gasket on a clutch cover that's never been removed since it was built in 2002? Fucking thing stuck on the thin wall of the clutch cover and I do not want to fuck up the clutch cover. -
What do you guys do to plug the hole in the stock clutch cover when you guys block off and eliminate the transmission vent/hose under the water pump cover?

Whatchu mean brand new? Did you run this crank with your 66mm cylinders? -
So, top end to sleeper and transmission to Redline? Why not all of it to Redline? Free top case port match to cylinders when the top-end gets ported. Do not forget a new eccentric screw, new jamb nut lock washer, a new shift shaft torsion spring and a new shift shaft seal. When Cam at Redline does a ProMod, he includes modding the shift star and replacing the shift star follower with a shift pro roller bearing follower. Just have him either reuse your shift star follower spring or get a new OE spring. Do not use the shift pro easy spring.
-
And to add to Special's statement, I forgot to mention that the torsion spring that slides onto the shift shaft gets dented from use and should be replaced with a new eccentric screw and jamb nut lock washer as regular maintenance. The bushing the shift shaft twists in under the shift shaft seal can get worn out over time, especially if one is having shifting problems and stands on the gear slammer.
-
We told you when you split your cases to have your crank welded to get your transmission ProMod'd for $200. None of the above mentioned bolt-on mods will do shit for shifting like the ProMod will. I have all the bolt-on mods mentioned above except the ProMod and my transmission shifts just as shitty as yours...
