  1. IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE TORS INSTALLED, REMOVE THE AIR FILTERS OR AIR FILTER BOOTS. ONCE YOU HAVE THE BOOTS OFF OPERATE THE THROTTLE AND MAKE SURE THAT THE SLIDES RAISE UP AT THE SAME TIME. IF THE SLIDES DON'T MOVE AT THE SAME TIME YOU ADJUST THEM WITH THE ADJUSTER ON THE CARB CAP.
  2. I had this problem the other day and it turned out tthat my slides were'nt adjusted exactely the same. Might want to check it out.
  3. Those are not for clutch adjustment, they are for timing and setting the valves. To adjust the clutch you need to find the lever that goes into the case. The case has a mark on it and so does the lever. With the enngaged (no pressure on clutch lever) use the adjustments on the cable near the lever. Once that adjustment is done adjust your freeplay at the clutch lever. Raptors do not have the internal adjustment like the Banshees. Good luck
  4. I'm pretty sure that both of the wires fire at the same time no matter what. It's possible that you have a bad wire coming from the coil. How is the compression on the left side? Have you done any work on the egine before this started happening?
  5. I had this problem with a set of cylinders. I had to install the stock head- I don't think they were decked right. When you install the coolhead, torque the head bolts before the cylinder nuts. My banshee blew the oring out and then the compression from the engine would pressurize the coolant and blow the cap off the overflow bottle. When I stopped riding the coolant would rush into the cylinder and that was the end of the story.
  6. Sounds like the right size jet. You might want to check the and see if you installed the carb slide correctley after your mods.
  7. I would run 98 octane with 150psi
  8. Make sure that the throttle is adjusted correctly (free play). Does it have TORS or is it removed?
  9. Make sure that your slides for your carbs are not installed backwards and the choke tube is in.
  10. Miratic acid will clean the aluminum from the cylinder wall. You can get it at any home improvement store or pool store.
  11. Changing your oil ratio changes the amount of fuel delivered to the engine. Once you now what ratio works for you put new plugs in and do your jetting. I run 50:1 amsoil and have never had a problem. My .02
  12. Are you sure you have the left carb slide in correctly.
  13. I'll leave it for now and get the head shaved!! Thanks everyone.
  14. I just did the compresion check again cold with the throttle wide open and got 117 per cylinder.
  15. I have a 94 shee and the compression is 110 in both cylinders. It has stock head and I'm at 1800 feet. Is it time for a rebuild? The quad still runs strong but I would like to increase the compression. If the head is shaved .030 how much will this increase my compression.
  16. Make sure tou put the carb slides in correctly.
  17. I believe its a weep hole. The seal for the pump is 30-40 bucks and it's not that hard to change. The 86's have an overflow bottle mounted on the left rear.
  18. Check your pickup coil resistance. Disconect the wire harness that goes to the stator. If you have a multimeter check for resistance at these wire colors White/red to white/green should be 94-140 ohms If that is good check source coil esistance Green to red 13-20 ohms If either one of those is bad you need to replace your stator
  19. You might want to make sure you have the choke tube installed between the carbs. I would think that a fire in the pipe would mean your running lean. If the carb tube is not on it will suck air through the hole and into the rt carb.
  20. Check the hose between the carbs.
  21. What type of hose do you get from New Age. The temps on the clear hoses are only good for 175 degrees.
