my names Paul and i live in Brookfield, Nova Scotia, Canada. i'd really like to get out for a Canadian HQ ride but the wife, kid, house and job always manage to take up most of my time.
it feels a bit spongy on the top end. i like this grill but i'm thinking it may have to go. its fine in the winter but i'm sure its heating me up in the summer. never anything in the overflow but then again its an old cap on the rad.
what temperature should i be running at? i'm guessing around 180 deg? anyone runing an ESR temp gauge on their bike. i was talking to peterlocal and he seems to be happy with his. just looking for feedback. thanks.
it doesn't take long for gas to break down these days. i did a tune-up on a sled this fall that sat for about 7months without fuel stabilizer. when i took the carbs apart i could tell the gas had deteriorated cause it had a very strong varnish smell to it. i had worked on the same machine the previous season and the carbs were spotless . whatever they put in the fuel these days really seems to reduce its shelf life.
i like them. you don't see many around and they're probably becoming hard to find. i'd keep it just to have. maybe to restore or just to run every once in a while.
i used them alot on my sleds but haven't put them on a banshee until now. i need some C-12 or i would have tried them out today. this is a digitron DT-32 on the bike. i used avenger 3's on the race sled. it had a neat record feature that would tell you how hot your pistons got before they melted!!! (hard to look at the display while you're trying to watch the track!)
i find that my 916's hit hard on the bottom and sign off on the top end. i'm running 18cc domes and have a 5deg advance on my stat plate. they turn on quick on low end and really pull through mid range.the 916s have responded well to mods like porting(dune port) a cool-head , 34mm carbs and a +4 crank. of course they could perform differently on another machine with different mods.
DG is a hell of alot better than stock. alot of people here rag on them bad,but they are a fairly decent pipe. just not the best. fit and finish can be a bit sloppy on them as well, but if they are already on the quad, you got nothing to worry about.
my local dealer is out of VP110, which is what i normally use. can i use C-12 until he gets a new order in? when i looked on VP's site, it says that the motor octane in C-12 is one point higher than VP110. how much difference does this make?
DMC's are a fairly popular exhaust and have been discussed on here quite a bit. i got a set on my shee and have nothing bad to say about them. they sound good too. pro circuits are also a very good pipe. i think they have a bit more mid range and top end than the DMC's. the DMC seems to have more bottom than the ProC's. i'd probably pick the DMC for trail riding.
i had em mounted 6" away from the piston on my sled motor, but i wasn't sure if the distance was applicable to two stroke bike engines. i just figured differences in displacement and pipe diameter may make a difference in where the probes were positioned.
i got an old digitron egt unit that i plan to install on the shee. how far from the cylinders are the probes supposed to be mounted? some people say 8 inches from the piston? is this correct? anyone else run these on thier bike?
