  1. chemical is right. i read somewhere that while testing, mercury marine found that a richer mix did actually make more power. if they can figure out how to stop the fouling problem i'd mix 24:1 to.
  2. want to know if stock shocks will fit +2 A-arms.
  3. in life there are those who make things happen, those who watch things happen and those who wonder what happened. that being said......... WTF happened? whys red leav'in?
  4. a "good friend" of mine makes his own. tripple filtered and real smooth. slight yeasty taste but hardly noticable. have gotten completely bombed off this stuff and have yet to get a hangover.Drink the same quantity of store bought stuff and be prepared to pay the next morning. .this is excellent firewater!
  5. yep, had avenger 3s on my mach-z drag sled. told you how hot your pistons were just before they burnt up! maybe good for a trail situation where you are running mods and are trying to tune the carbs over a broad range.
  6. They are still available. saw them in an add in dirt wheels december issue. try moto-man in michigan , advertised for $539. 1-800-628-6686.
  7. Brookfield N.S ...... just over the hill from ya.
  8. ask any successful snowmobile racer that runs a prostock race sled if he runs a "turbo" crank .(no will be the answer).or maybe call any reputable builder-( The Crankshop or Hooper Racing). Racers routinely rev there sleds between 9-10,000 rpm(tripples).if this mod works better with high revs, it would be of the most advantage and produce the most HP in this type of application. if there was any advantage to a mod like this, every racer would run one. anybody can produce "showponies" on a dyno. bring it to the track and see what happens. spend your money on porting or other proven mods if you are after more power.
  9. As much as i hate to say you can't totaly blame D&D for the way your bro's sled is working.(although thier 1147 kits really suck!) .with the mods done to this sled(F-7) it should perform better. it should have the power to wax a stock mx800 at the very least . then again totally stock machines are really hard to find. with that said, chances are your brother's sled is making alot more power with the mods that are done to it than it had when it was stock.(if he has the fuel pressure dialed in to D&D's specs). Check to see where this machine is reving at WOT.it is important to find out what rpm this engine makes it's peak power, as this is the target you're shooting for. he's either reving over or under the point where the motor makes it's max power. to correct this be prepared to spend some time with various clutch set-ups (helixs, springs and flyweights).if he bought a clutch set-up for a stock f-7 then his clutch calibration could be(and probably is) way out of wack.Companies that put together "clutch kits" can't account for evey individuals situation and they are aimed at a broad market. its up to you to tune the "kit" to get it to transfer the engine's power to the track. get some books on CVT clutching- Olav Aaen's clutch tuning handbook is a good place to start. although its a bit dated it is still very relavent. I break it out every year before the snow flies! if he wants some set-up suggestions p.m. me. Then again you probably don't want your bro dusting your mx800 with his little f-7 so this post is a waste of time. have fun booting his ass knowing he s wasting a shit load of power!!!!!
  10. there are alot of different opinions/experiences connected with different engine builders out there. D&D seems to build a decent big bore Tripple Cat motor but they fall far short when it comes to twins. made big promises on thier 1147cc kit for 800/900 cat twin motors. for the most part they did not deliver. $5000 is alot to pay for a big bore kit that didn't work much better than a stock 900. thier 1010cc kits made less horsepower than stock.this is documented on a dyno in "american snowmobiler magazine " in thier trail sled shoot-out, a couple of years ago. in thier defense, there may have been upgrades to these kits since then that made some real horsepower.....maybe. I'd just be worried that my banshee would have the horsepower of a blaster when they got done with it. i would like to see some real #s by an independent tester before i made another purchase.
  11. looks like they are making banshee monoblock cylinders(w/ power valves). no dial-a-dome heads though. www.psipowerinc.com
  12. anybody have cylinder heads with adjustable domes (dial-a-domes) made by P.S.I. Performance on thier banshee? just wondering if they made 'em for this engine and what people think of them. i,ve seen a few on moded snowmobile engines but have never heard any feedback on them.
  13. Never, never ship anything the least bit valuable or important by USPS. Got taken a few times times using this shipping method. A courier such as UPS or Fed-ex that has a proven tracking system is your best bet when doing business. It's funny how things just mysteriously go missing at the post office!
  14. Looking for an xc race in northern new england . any anuall events going on this year?
  15. what were you running for silencers in the Walden vids? stock cylinders or cubs? what displacement? building a trail bike over the winter and would like to copy your set up. sweet machine you got there!
  16. i think he's talking about the "power now valve". advertised as producing "big horsepower for a small price"(89.95 !). ufos are about as useless.required endless hours of carb tuning to show a 1 - 2hp increase on an 800cc snowmobile engine. results would be much less on a 350-400 cc 2/s. hate to see someone waste thier money!
  17. supposed to improve low end throttle response. don't bother with them. you'd gain more power with a set of racing stripes.
