Well, if you have to be cutting peices of your old filter off to fit your new filter, it dont sound like a good set up. The intake is to sensative to dirt, sand, or water getting in there and silicone is not the best glue. If you want to keep the airbox with or without the lid its best to go with the prodesign adapter and the oval k&N filter. If you can do without the box then the best setup would be the k&n independent filters. Shop around and check your options. Dont rig it, a small error could cost you alot. Remember to rejet.
