  1. Just my opinion but I would stick with a keihin carb. Keihin carbs are a proven carb that you don't have to worry about. The thing about your motor is with the port job you have and your set up when you go to a larger carb the theory is the way it was explained to me with the larger carb you will lose the velocity of the air going in which will then affect your bottom end pull. If you were all out drag racing where you are leaving the line with the bike pinned wide open then the larger carbs would be the choice. This is just my .02.
  2. exactly!!! I turned a +6 into a taco and it was a lesson well learned.
  3. Your bikes looking good.
  4. I think Jeff would have been an asset to planet sand. But that is their loss. The post I made earlier was just me joking around with Jeff. We had a conversation the other day on him getting banned from PS and when I read that post over there today I knew then who banned him.
  5. Today when I was reading on PS general discussion I came across a post that showed me why planet sand is a pay site now. Here it is.the problem with sponsers are the ones that pay it are great and we thanks them for it . but it's the ones that sell there stuff through there pms instead of just paying for the sponsership, and thats why this site doesnt make enough money to run, the money has to come from somewhere to keep it up and running. You know who this is about don't you. This is all Jeff's fault for making to many sales over their thru pm's. Sorry Jeff (Farmandsandtoys) couldn't resist.
  6. You will be better off like said above about buying yourself a good quality swingarm. The extra you pay for the round house carrier is well worth it also.
  7. Did you get your pipes chromed already? If not I would have the pipe mounts reinforced. Mine broke and was leaking really bad and had to have them done after chrome. :: They use a brazing rod the way it looks on the mounts. I know you just can't tig the crack back up it will just blow right thru where they had already brazed. The builder who fixed mine says he sees that alot from those pipes. Awesome pipes just the mounts don't hold up to the vibration. You might already know this but if not I was just trying to let you know so you don't go thru what I did with the messed up chrome now. ::
  8. Well I have been away from the computer for a couple days and I spend most of my time on Planet Sand. Quite a shock this afternoon I thought something was wrong with my computer at first not loading the whole page. You know six bucks isn't alot of money. About the same as a magazine to read these days. But what pisses me off is there was no discussion on this at all. I am not a computer tech at all so I have no idea what it cost to run a website. But today I was still able to read the general discussion forum. There was a few comments in there about how much time is being used right now just to keep the forum going. If this new website planetsand switched to is that difficult to run why didn't they just keep the old one. Personally I liked it alot better anyway. And if I was a site sponsor on Planet Sand I would be pretty pissed off right now. Oh well that's the way it goes. Looks like you guys are going to be seeing alot more of me now. Hello everyone.
  9. There is a guy right outside of Independence MO. He does all kinds of polishing in a shop right at his house. He does work for people all over but the only problem is he won't ship anything. He does alot of restoration on old trim off cars plus wheels. If it can be polished he can do it.
  10. This style chain tensioner works really good up front. You should run the regular slide on the back also. If that is a new aftermarket swingarm be sure and check the alignment. It's not uncommon to have one a little out of alignment.
  11. I found the best way is to pay someone. The best $75 dollars I think I ever spent.
  12. That is what I think also. Less chain bind will free up a little more hp.
  13. There was a discussion on planet sand about this sometime back and I think Calvin said they feel the best way is to do it on gas. I did mine on alcohol and didn't have any problems.
  14. The ones I had were 18 paddle stagger cut. They hooked like a mofo and was a blast in the dunes.
  15. This website will tell you the weight of the Brats. http://www.sandtiresunlimited.com/sandtire1.html#brat
  16. Never really hear alot of people talking very highly of the boondocker. I know there is alot of people running NX. Also you might do a search on the boss noss. From what I have read it seems to be user friendly.
  17. I would search around. There is alot of good frame builders out there that can build you just as good of a frame as the lonestar and alot cheaper. If you visit planet sand quick16 builds some awesome frames and ide builds frames for GT Performance and they also have very nice frames.
  18. I agree with bigboybanshee. A motor that size is going to be a handfull no matter what frame you put it in though. Just curious what size motor are you running now?
  19. The lonestar frame will probably be lighter and work better than the stock. Is this just going to be a hillshooter bike or flat 300ft?
  20. stock frame or drag frame?
  21. I know some guys use there overflow tank for a purge bottle.
  22. I have seen those before but didn't figure that would be how you would hook it up. Is that the way they told you to route your lines? The reason I ask is because the way you ran your pingle into the block you are running two in to one then splitting back to two. I would think that defeats the purpose of feeding each carb independently to keep from running out of alcohol. I figured you would run both lines off your pingle into one side of the block and run the two lines out the other side to the carbs that way you wouldn't be reducing down to one then back to two. Then I figured the one on the end is the one your purge bottle would hook to.
  23. You are going to give him a big head!!!!! But he does do excellent work. Now Jeff hurry up and get my parts back.
  24. Jeff's been a bad boy. I guess PM sent is a advertising reply on the planet. A post was put up last night about getting Jeff back on Planet Sand but today I noticed it dissapeared.
  25. I am probably about 800-1000ft above sea level and I run the same carbs. I started out with .120 mains and 55-60 pilots and had my powerjets 4 turns out. On alky I run my timing +8. I use benoil at 32-1 and I purge at 18-1 also run the b9egv plugs gapped at .18. I just took my time and slowly leaned the bike down till I found the sweet spot. Everybody sets there bikes up differently but I like running a larger main and small pilot. I ended up with 118 mains and 46 pilots with the needle on the top clip and my powerjets are about 2 turns out. The bike is still a little fat but with my setup mine only runs wide open. I thought this might just give you an example of similar carbs and try and help. But just remember start out fat. Like said above that bike is going to go thru twice as much fuel now its on alcohol.
