  1. Thanks for all the replies. I figured everyone would have a different opinion based on what they have expirience with. Well I was leaning tward the predator to begin with, and the people who have them and or used them have a high opinion of them, so I guess that's what I'll go with. It will be a little while before I get it. (I have to recover from christmas first) But I will let ya guys know what I think of it when I get it... Or umm, I mean my kid gets it
  2. Youre saying that it hesitates at first (durring 1st 1/8 throttle) running #30 pilots, and if you turn the screw out it gets worse? Also you said you moved the clip on the needle one notch leaner than stock? Does this seem odd to anyone else? I'm no expert but I'd be guessing 4th notch on needle (one notch richer than stock)
  3. I'm looking at getting my kid one. I live in B.F.E. Alaska, so sorry Ellison, but I don't have access to any shops that sell eatons. Here's my options, honda trx 90, Kawasaki / suzuki 80, yamaha raptor 80, Polaris predator 90. I'm leaning tward the predator then the kawi/zuki, just from reading about them, but I really have no expirience with any of them. Any advice?
  4. what he said ^
  5. I vote check for an air leak
  6. Part of your jetting depends on your elevation and the temp. where you ride.
  7. You should. It doesn't limit revs unless A) your throttle sticks and your bike is winding out (supposedly) or the tors goes to shit and keeps the bike from reving above idle for no reason. A tors removal kit is pretty cheap and is a good preventative measure so that you won't have to deal with problems in the future. Also it cleans the bike up quite a bit by taking the crap off the top of the carbs.
  8. I was thinking reeds while I was reading your post before I even got to that part. I'd check those out first. Pull the cages hold the them up to a light look for any cracks in the reeds, look to see if they are sealing around the edges, you can try flipping them over to get a better seal. I'd start there, see if that helps. Also check for air leaks on the left side too. Fire it up, and spray some starting fluid around the intakes and carbs to see if it revs up.
  9. I'd start with cleaning it up like you said. Then once you get her running again, post your results and people will be able to give you more acurate advice.
  10. why not just do a compression test? That's what you are wanting to find out right? If your compression is too high to run on pump gas. Well first off I guess I should ask if it is on the bike...
  11. It could just be me, maybe I'm a pussy but I don't see3 cubs as a fast trail / fire road kinda set up then again, he's got a pretty good set up right now, and apearently he doesn't think it's enough, so he must just be a stud
  12. This has been covered many times, it basicly all boils down to everyone has an opinion. If you search the subject on here you can read about everyone's personal choice, and you will notice that they vary from the cheap shit with a picture of a lawn mower on it, to klotz (a popular choice on here). As far as full synthetic goes, yes it is good. You don't want to run it while you are breaking in your engine, but after that it is a good choice.
  13. This is a very simple idea that makes sense. Ha good thinkin
  14. I have t6's I like them but I'm not ported. I do hawever plan on getting porting, so realistically 5's would have been a better choice for me. You may not want porting now, but I'd still reccomend you get 5's instead they are cheaper and you are going to get a big gain either way over stock pipes. Of course you don't have to get toomeys at all, there are lot's of brands to choose from. What type of riding do you do? The way you plan to set up you bike will play a part in what pipes are the best choice for you too.
  15. Yeah I hate to break it to you but there's a huge difference from a ford 460 to a small block chevy. I don't think it was the gear drive that made the biggest impact on your gas.
  16. Just do a search on "ported cages" it will bring up a ton of stuff on porting your stock cages
  17. Cubs are a drag (basicly) cylinder, so based on that I'd say you'd want some drag type inframes, like shearer inframes or cpi's.
  18. What's the elevation and temp. where your at? What rpm range is it running rich in?
  19. Pssst...try the jetting forum
  20. Just a thought, but could he have screwed up his idle, and then when it didn't like to start or idle he went the the huge pilot to compensate, which is now making him run rich in his mid range?
  21. Thanks for the advice
  22. I haven't had him do any work for me, so I can't say for sure, but people really seem to like his woods port. There are a few people on here with expirience with it. Actually, I can't remember who it is but someone on here has Gorr's woods port with T6's. They said they called Eric and asked him and he said they would do fine with his woods port because most of the work is done to the transfer ports and not the exhaust (or something close to that, I'm going from memory here). Anyway the person was happy with the outcome. I have 6's and I was going to have it done, but I decided tires for my truck were more important right now
  23. He's got 3 post's and he's already got us figured out! I guess we've lost another fan
  24. I'm going to order the 27.5's because nobody stocks them in town while I'm at it I'll pick up some 340's and give that a shot. So you think 340's needle in the 5th (out of 6 on a toomey needle) and 27.5's sounds like a good place to start?
