  1. Both horrendous pieces of information. 440 main? And on Mikunis you really should be using a different pilot if you need to be 2 full turns out. If you want your carbs cleaned, fucking clean them. Soaking them in gas isn't gonna fix the fact that gas has been soaking in them since they were manufactured and the bike's tank topped off. The. You say a bad stator only shows it's messed up under load, but to check it with a meter? So do I ohm it while I have it "under load"? Pretty conflicting and not the only way stators go bad.
  2. Those taper bore lectrons are bad ass. They will probably be ok gravity fed with a gutted gas cap, pinguel, and bigger bowls
  3. Hahaha, that's rediculous! Get another head!
  4. Any one happen to know if jerry has a number to reach him at? Got a head that I need a coolant elbow for
  5. I agree with that^ I happened to get a peek in side some very well performing stock cylinder drag bike. The intake side was a very organic looking design. Turbulence creates velocity if done with a lot of thought.
  6. Jim is great, but his engine program was/is still more of a hobby then full bore round the clock schedule. He's supposed to have let go of his previous career to focus on the engine program but once that move was made I Havnt heard much but bad since then. I hope he can get things sorted out because Jim can build a monster.
  7. 350 class motor. Gonna be fun if you guys hillbilly it together even half as good as it should be.
  8. Probably 'bout the same era AIDS took off.
  9. Ok. Pretty sure the only 64 bore cubs were stock stroke. So that is for 64mm piston the exess is just the clearance
  10. You more then likely have a stock stroke with the 65 mm bore.
  11. If you have the old boot can you see if there is a number on it? I think chariot sells all different genuine mikuni boots. Maybe Sudco to. I remember seeing some distributor that had replacements for almost any application.
  12. Oh my. Please tell your buddy to stop and start over. CK158, is it powder coated black?
  13. You'd be surprised....... I've raped both and apes are definitely harder to catch back up to. It's their cardio, ya know?
  14. You say 700 like you saved money?
  15. Lotta Tyson stuff here. Pretty damn nice products from Brad.
  16. You would be nuts to go through the trouble of starting over at the cases and not touch the tranny. Even doing the basic ear/dog cut, drum mod and the rest of the misc bolt ons.
  17. Needs to be carbon dipped at JDS
  18. I must say though, under load you will have fuel rush away from they baffle. It will go to the rear of the tank and your sump is on the front...... A pump might be a good idea. Feed the OEM tank from the new aluminum one. Add a barb in the OEM tank to make an over flow line back to the aluminum tank. Then you don't have to mess with the pump modifications on the carbs. Ultimately if you can get your sump at the rear then rout the lines it will be way better. Remember if these things run out of fuel they can burn down.
  19. This is pretty slick. I've seen a pikes peak bike with a tank like that but the OEM tank was gone in favor of a little aluminum puck style purge tank that gravity fed the carbs. The over flow went from the little tank back to the big one under the seat. This was more for lower center of gravity though.
  20. Ya, track prep is a must as well! I remember being at Phil's before his own wreck on his own track. It's not a big venue but there is a ton of racing there and it's a fun track. Back then there would only be a few track grade outs a day. I remember watching guys shoot of the ruts in the gate and bottom out on the wheelie bar then shoot a totally different direction.
  21. Your line about big time PSDA races vs. Local races. Think of car racing. Almost every track that is NHRA/IHRA compliant has the same set of rules whether it's a big time event or weekend warriors. As far as sponsorships. I'm sure Leatt would be glad to sponsor (slight price cut?) if their product was something that safety rules dictated. Boo boo it adds weight but so what if every one else has one.
  22. 4 mil means money. So realistically you said your not dumping cash, so in my opinion weld that stocker up. A welded stocker will take abuse. You can even comfortably put all the bolt ons on it slowly and then down the road you would have most of the stuff for a stroked motor. If it's apart down to the cases, you might as well ask your machinist about working the trans over.
  23. I noticed the same weird issue with the dome size to the readings your comp tester like sleeper06. Either that is a tired motor or it is being way over octaned. With 19cc domes in stock cyls it should be well above 140 unless you lived in mountains. The issue with your bowl having the plug welded is not an issue. I have seen tons of pairs of keihin carbs in banshee kits that have one carb welded on. It's like they have a reject pile that they snatch one out of to pack the two carb kits.
