  1. Sucks that full bore is moving on. Never been a fan of the lakers but a lot of the custom paint guys liked them.
  2. Are you wanting to run a link on trails and stuff? That's not a good idea. Not only will it shove the wish bone down where it'll get beat up, but it really won't fit most skid plates except the ones that only cover the rotor and sprocket. You could try the warrior link wich is supposed to take the bike down a little bit.
  3. File the taller nub down so that it strikes evenly on both. Other concern, the compression you got off the gauge was 150psi on each? You didn't mention port work, but Is there head work on it? What type of fuel are you using? If the head is cut, you may be suffering a bit of deto.....
  4. ^ aren't you supposed to be a pro mechanic?
  5. If cost is a serious concern, I'd say just pull the motor and do a really nice stock stroke build up. Weld the stock crank and put fresh bearings on it. Port the stock cylinders, mill and rechamber the stock head, find some decent 28mm PWK's, good pipes, little tranny work, and a timing plate. If you can squeeze another $400 bucks you would be far better off doing a 4mm crank as you are a heavier guy so you would definitely want the torque. But if you truely can get past the money hurdle, the 421 serval would be your best bet. Lots of torque to lug your larger keester just about any where. They have really gotten popular so all the quirks are figured out, and the info is plentiful.
  6. Dave at Noss Machine.
  7. Classic. Thanks for making sure people know that even a pro motocross mechanic like your self forgets the choke tube every now and again.
  8. Probably Ok. I'm not positive, but I think they may have a different slide then what most aftermarket 28mm PWK's would be. I don't think it would be to big of a deal. Just get them good and dialed in before riding it to hard.
  9. I thought the whole PVL thing was dead. The first time I messed with one it was a nightmare. Total learning curve. In the end, the amount of tinkering and cost far out weighed practicality.
  10. If you keep it stock stroke the regular inframes are your better bet. If you decide to stroke it, I honestly loved the way the rockets came on and revved pretty well. On my last combo I only felt them flatten on the straights of half mile oval tracks. Gearing was 15/39. Motor was making 82hp at about 9,400
  11. If Jennings were alive, how fast would his banshee be?
  12. Pretty sure there is a nice set from pro circuit that is forestry approved. Maybe find a used set on Ebay or maybe here in the forsake section. Machine a bung that takes the shearer stinger tube and 3 bolts. And weld it on to the end of the silencer.
  13. that guy is a scumbag and I hope that the people still sending him work come to their senses.
  14. I said Capable. That guy is a sketchy fella, but when he actually gets around to finishing a motor, they are usually pretty fucking stout. I see his work run against just about any other fella listed in the sponsors and unfortunately it holds it's own. That is the reason he is still able to keep the doors open.
  15. The dremel does not produce the same torque that a foredom will. You have to really get it in the RPMs to produce marginal results. The foredom or equivalent will require much less RPM to function and this yields longer lasting burrs and faster cutting due to the motor having the torque to slam the cutting surface in deeper and remove a larger kirf.
  16. Guy says he won't even start it with out a cash deposit..... So, who puts a deposit on a bike they haven't even seen run?
  17. Strange that someone who is capable of dominating in performance, is such a slouch on paying bills. After all, I doubt Rob built those motors for customers and didn't get paid on any of them.
  18. There are ways to aid the case to transfer flow of fuel but there aren't many folks doing much with it. Most motors rarely have the proper case work if any. I'm not just talking about gasket matching the cyls and upper case half either. I tried to make a thread on it a while back but it's worth mentioning here I guess.
  19. You'll never guess who I just bumped in to. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  20. Always great when someone posts the follow up.
  21. Jeff and Cody get shit done fast at FAST! They have just about anything you could want for about any combo you want. Tell them you want 8-10" filters and what carbs they are for. They will do the rest. As far as your base gasket, I usually have about 6-7 different gaskets and I like to just drop the jugs on with out the head to see which gasket puts the piston where it should be in relation to the ports. Then find the deck height and order the domes to go off of that. Since you have domes.(you're sure they are for this motor?) maybe you can bolt the cylinders on and the head. Squish test it, and calculate what the difference should be. Ultimately that's more like guessing as you need to be sure the gasket is putting the cylinders where they need to be for optimum set up not just to fudge a squish number. When calculating, remember different gasket materials squish down some. So if you mic a gasket at say .025, it may smush down to .020
  22. Yes, I made it very clear I was in to his couch, for some reason he thought I was in to vandalism. BTW, OP. I will even give the couch a good old fashioned reach around handy. I'm not greedy, I aim to please others as well.
  23. I'm all for people learning and researching and then putting it in to practice. On many occasions I've stated that I think it is good for people to try to do their own work, GRANTED, they are CAPABLE, COMPETENT, and PROPERLY EQUIPPED. It takes a certain type of fella to really dig in and willingly ruin a few cylinders to figure out what works and doesn't, then continue putting it in to practice through experimentation. The problem is, more often then not, people on forums are in experienced and in way over their heads when it comes to this type of work. There is a reason there are so many hacked up craigslist bikes out there and these are the type of individuals doing it. There are always gonna be guys that in their own mind are sure they are improving things. Just remember this, if ten people are in a room and one says they are right and the other 9 say they're wrong, they are probably fucking wrong. Hence all the forums where one guy tries to "contribute" and then 30 guys point out what is wrong but the poster gets angry and defensive and it turns to a cluster fuck. There is a lot to be said about doing your own work, and I commend anyone who tries. But it's important to know what your limits are.
  24. I don't claim to be in to portwork. Never have. I've just called you on your bull shit which to this date you have never even validated. Till then you are just another fucking nobody like the rest of us. It's cute that you think of me though.
