The fellas in Europe have been running quads like GP classes for years. I was digging around and bumped in to this ol gal. Havnt read much on it since I was a kid. It's the kinda stuff that got me started so I figured I would post it up to see if any one else got to drooling. This is the later phillips stuff, ktm550 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

Purchasing Cheetah - How to identify CC? HELP!
trickedcarbine replied to dgwizdal's topic in General Banshee Discussion
That is NOT a CHEETAH! That guy is clueless. The cylinders do look welded up though and it looks like it was a good job. That can definitely be a pretty hot running little motor if it's ported well and dialed in. I would go over there and show this guy this thread to show him he's lost. And if he was conned, then he's an idiot for not doing exactley the same research you are. To check size, you gotta get a view of the number on the piston for the bore size. At the very minimum, you can check stroke easily though. Run a dowl down the spark plug hole and rotate the motor over and mark the dowel at it's highest and lowest point. Measure it in MIllimeters. 54mm is stock stroke, 58mm is 4mm stroke, 61mm is 7mm stroke. With that set up there won't be anything bigger in there. Here is a fucking cheetah Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free -
Even worse, you bought 66.5 cyls and torched them. Now you need to buy new ones. Or did you keep the stock 64mm bore ones around? If that's the case get them freshened up. Order new coolant plugs, gaskets and seals. Refresh the waterpump as well.

Best ideas for monitoring temp
trickedcarbine replied to Jgspahn's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
There's some wireless data logging stuff for the race car crowd. Get a wireless temp sensor and sync it to your IPhone or Droid. Put a clip for your phone on the bars. Now you got tunes, GPS, speedo, and whatever other shit you can dream of. Can't remember the company that makes all the SYNC stuff but I'll dig through a stack of magazines to see if I can find it. I have my I phone in the life proof case and one of the holsters for it on my bars and it takes abuse! I've rolled the quad and the phone was cool. -

Powercore 2 canister shortening?
trickedcarbine replied to Rage_kage's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Quite a few fellas have shortened silencers. The FMF's are a pretty common and easy one to do. It won't hurt power but might make it a touch louder and raspier. I'll see if I can find a link -
RUUUUUUN. If you must, Magura with the hard line.

Those dudes were just adding 200% to materials, then adding dealer mark up. To boot, they are charging for shit that doesn't even exist and the stuff that does they have the most retarted prices.

Advantage is definitely more usable curve and torque. Problem is politics have drivin the cost way up on the cheetah stuff. When you put it against motors of equel CC you will rarely see a better peak number leading to the argument that dollar per CC the cheetah is at a dis advantage . But if you want more usable power and have the money to buy every thing, then pay to go through it all, it can be worth I if done right. I finally rode a couple cheetahs over the last couple seasons. The 421 that wild card did was fucking amazing! The 485 as was from trinity was a turd and should be sorted out this season.

The big box was $150 on sale at X Mas. Puller is about $25, and the 32mm is probably 8-20 depending on who made it . About everything else can be had at a bargain and isn't NEEDED.... But it's preferred. I like having all my buddies tell me they have every thing I need in their big well equipped garages. Of course they get insulted when I show up with my little plastic "TOY" box and happen to have the puller and 32mm that their mega garage didn't.

^ This is the exact kit I picked up years ago to have a portable tool box with me every where. I use it to be mobile at the track, off the tow rig in the trails, working on friends stuff at their place instead of mine, etc. Really is about the most bang for the buck kit. I'll snap a pic later. Things I've added that are banshee specific: - Clymer manual - 32 mm impact socket - Yamaha flywheel puller (DO NOT USE A 3 JAW PULLER - Spring puller - sheet metal ring compressor - pick tool set - Feeler gauges - Compression gauge - LOCTITE - Lapping Compound - Mini file set - Wire spark plug gapper

Traction and 10" tall wheel really don't mesh well in the same thought. Are you against maybe buying an entire set of tires already mounted? -

True polishing for true Bling Bling!
trickedcarbine replied to trickedcarbine's topic in Banshee Appearance
Yes^ Ehmm, Cam. I have been doing tranny parts with my buffer as well. The insides of shift forks, tabs that ride the drum, shift fork rods, and the shafts. It helps get things a touch more buttery. I've been hunting for a tumbler lately as well and wonder if it would be a good idea to polish a drum. Any thoughts on that cam? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free -
Cheaper to not end up in a Denny wang crisis. The rod is about the most important part of those cranks. Second to only the bearings I guess. Everything else can pretty much be junk but the rods and bearings need to be honky approved.

Really....? Have you been on any Atv or LSX forum? It's going down so ! Get in line with everyone else and let the authorities know.

That's a bit different then gas having different refinement qualities due to the height it was brewed at. What you just posted has to do with octane requirements in different altitudes. Still a good fact though. Partially explains why certain areas sell different octane grades.

Shit, I was about to send a bunch of shit to wheel man........ Let us know who you go with and how it turns out.
