  1. You should need at least a 340 main jet.You also won't have much bottom end on a piped banshee.Mid to top end should be improved. It should run away from a stock banshee.Getting rid of the airbox is a good idea as long as you don't ride through alot of water or mud.
  2. I can check mine without taking off the flywheel. On the left side of the engine, like if you're sitting on the bike, take off the cover. It will be held on by 7 bolts.Behind the flywheel is a timing plate. It's held on by 3 bolts. On the right side of the plate will be several #'s and some small marks.Which ever mark is lined up with where the case splits, that's what the timing is set at.That's with an aftermarket plate.
  3. What modifications have you done to the bike?
  4. You'll never believe how much a good port job will help that banshee till you do it.That is some of the best money you can spend on a banshee. With some bolt-ons you might not even tell much of a difference, but with a good port job it will be alot faster.Keep in mind though, get a port job that goes along with how you ride it.Don't need a drag port if all you do is cruise around on the banshee or ride trails. You need to rebuild the top end while it's apart too.
  5. I would like to try them, but if they're too much for yours then my bike probably won't even turn them over.
  6. I'll try to remember to tell all of ya.I take it you got the banshee back together. You wouldn't have an extra set of tires for drags do you?
  7. I would have swore my clutch was toast this weekend, but all it needed was to have the clutch cable adjusted at the perch. That is very important. Can't have a fast bike if you're losing it at the clutches.
  8. What does it involve when replacing it.Just take it out and put in a new one?
  9. The shearer pipes pull extremely hard on top end.Not good for trails, but awesome for drag racing. They are the pipes to get in my opinion. Not crazy about the quality of the chrome finish, but the performance gain is well worth it.
  10. He might not have, but I thought about it this past weekend.Glad I didn't now.
  11. I liked Toomey T-5's with stock cylinders, but I now have shearer pipes on mine. It's also ported and on alcohol. It pulls extremely hard. You'll love them once you get the cubs. They are awesome. My friend who has never had a banshee, but once owned a piped raptor was surprised just how hard the banshee pulls. And yes,it will smoke the raptors we once had.
  12. It should run cooler with bigger jetting.Might want to tell your friend to keep a close I on his bike.If he is running with the lid off,it still might be lean.I think he should need at least a 160/165.He might be ok though. dnhyoung is right. One intake port is a lot bigger than the other because it's feeding two valves.
  13. My banshee is losing gear oil. It's losing it from around the shaft where it comes out of the case then goes to my shifter. Is it an easy fix?Anyone ever had this problem?
  14. What's the real purpose of modifing a shift star.Does it make for easier shifts?Just wondering.
  15. Sure sounds like he could burn it up if he doesn't jet it up.
  16. I agree.
  17. I did the same thing when I first tore mine apart.Lesson learned.Always use a puller that screws into the flywheel and doesn't have the jaws.I bought a used flywheel from RDZ racing(rdzracing.com).It was alot cheaper than a new one. Also get the crank welded by someone who knows what they're doing before you put it back in.Just to be on the safe side.
  18. I wish everyone was like that. They're only your friend until you already bought what they're selling.Glad you found someone you can trust.
  19. How much for the v-force?My wife wants one.I went to St.Joe today. The banshee was running awful.I was talking to a guy that has had an alcohol banshee.Come to find out it was my clutch cable needed adjusting.I thought is was jetting or the tires spinning too much. The cable was the problem. It pulled consistantly hard after that.So maybe will be going to george rays in a few weeks.I've got to get the wheelie bar fixed too.
  20. I think shearers are more for ported bikes.I really liked theT-5's when my banshee had stock cylinders.Didn't like the T-6's.Just my opinion. At little sahara,I was using a 13 front sprocket and it was pulling extremely hard on top end and we was racing a really long distance.Easily at least a 1/4 mile. You can go fast with stock gearing, but some prefer taller gearing.I'm using RDZ(shearer) pipes. They are awesome on top end.
  21. Might talk to Passion about some porting.Porting really wakes up a banshee. If this is your first banshee, you might want to wait.Might need time to get use to your banshee.I understand if money is an issue too.
  22. A banshee reacts very quickly, and it can be on top of you if you're not careful. You probably won't win many races if you keep having to let out of it to keep from flipping over. The longer the swingarm is,the less likely it is to wheelie.Mine is extended 5 inches, and I still have problems with wheelies.I not stock though.8 paddles will be plenty.A 10 paddle will probably knock a stock banshee in the dirt.It would probably be geared too low to pull the 10's to do any good.
  23. I don't even know when it is.Do you think I could rent a fuel tanker to pull behind me?LOL.If I go I might bring my banshee, but the polaris is better for rides like that.It will run all day on the gas it takes just to start the banshee.
  24. That about the match and the gas tank,I laugh so hard my stomach hurt.I have been in your shoes before. Before you burn it,call me.I'll take that worry off your hands.Hang in there you'll find the problem. It just takes longer than it should sometimes.Let us know if the suggestions we gave you don't work. We'll come up with some more suggestions.
  25. Not sure on the different types of swingarms. I have a +5 extension, and it's not long enough sometimes. My banshee dynoed at 73 hp.at the rearwheels. So if you're making more, probably need a + 8 or longer. You probably won't like a really long swingarm if you plan on doing anything other than racing.
