For drag racing, shearers are the way to go.That is the best pipe I've tried so far.Not a good idea for a trail bike though.I liked the Toomey T-5 when my banshee wasn't ported and even after. If you later decide to get it ported, you better have the T-5 and not the T-6.The T-5 is a good mid to top end pipe.

Extending Swingarm ? HELP
race-a-holic replied to [email protected]'s topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
89steeda is right.Mods.,tires,gearing all play a factor in this question. -
Their chains seem to hold up pretty good.

Alot depends where you race at.If you race on dirt,I'd use either 4-snows or pro-wedge 2 tires.I use 4-snows.On a good biting track, mine will lift the front end though 3rd or 4th.Sand,definitely need paddle tires.Pavement, hoosiers or M/T tires are the best as far as I know.I use stock banshee tires. You'll most likely have to ease out on the clutch when launching or spinning could still be an issue.Once you can get it to hook up,your banshee should run away from the pred.Have you tried a rolling start?

I think you already know the answer. The predator.LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just make sure you get enough traction, and let the beating begin.

We're going to george ray's dragstrip sunday. My brother welded my wheelie bar.Got it on tonight.I'll load the banshee up tomorrow.I plan on being out at george's between 11:30 and 12.

For dirt tracks,I use 4-snows.Traction is definitely not a problem.I got a few more mods than you,but the JTM extension for the swingarm works good except at tracks that hook really hard.mine is a +5.They also come in +3.The website is jaeckeltool.com.I'd get the +5.They are made out of aluminum, and can be adjusted for trying different sprocket combinations.Cheaper than a new swingarm too.I just got a blaster I'm going to fix up,and I'm going to get one for it too.If that don't work, how about a wheelie bar?

Jetting perfect but tons of smoke?
race-a-holic replied to northshoremb's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
What ratio are you mixing your oil and gas? -
I've never tried them.I only use wiseco. They might be ok though.Porting is where the power is really at.You most likely won't pick up much with just pistons. Are you asking because it's time for a rebuild,or just wanting more power?
-
In my opinion, porting will actually make it more rideable.Just a mild porting, not an all out drag port.It can actually give it more torque.Though it will probably never be as trail-rideable as a 4-stroke,porting can help.

Any one hard about the raptor 700r (Fuel Injection
race-a-holic replied to bluefrog's topic in Drag Forum
To me,yamaha is setting the standard the other manufactures should follow.Instead of just selling the same old quads, they keep coming out with either new quads or improved models.Although the banshee is my favorite, the new 4-strokes are impressive. The YFZ is a great quad.I rode my friend's 450.You can lug that thing and just hit the throttle and away you go.Lots of torque.I liked it.Still prefer the banshee though. -
The tracks I've raced at didn't care what type of tire you run.I run a set of stock banshee tires. They are pretty wore down. The tires NYUK suggested would be better. On asphalt,I'd suggest getting a wheelie bar. That way you can concentrate more on a good launch than trying to keep the front end from pointing toward the sky.I have only raced on 1/8th mile tracks.Maybe one of these days I'll get a chance at a 1/4 mile track.1/8th mile tracks is all we got where I'm at.

I've got RDZ porting(level 2),RDZ pipes(shearer),shaved head,K&N clamp-on filters,35mm pwk's converted to alcohol, dyna ignition, and a timing plate advanced 8 degress.Keep in mind when I had the work done,I wanted a quick bike and not an all out drag bike. It's still rideable thru trails, but not something I'd want to do with it everyday. At Little Sahara,it dynoed at 73 hp. and 42 ft. lbs. of torque.I know it's not the fastest 350 in the world, but it runs good with most bikes. It has come a long way since when it just had pipes.

I should be getting my wheelie bar fixed today. So maybe this sunday.Haven't made up my mind whether to go to george's or newport.A friend of mine is wanting to see how fast his' dodge desiel will be.He's done some mods to it.He thinks it will run in the 10's.I don't know.I like newport better due to them being more quad friendly, but george is closer for me.I'll let you know later this week if we are for sure going. If we do,is any one else in?Which track would you rather go to?

I talked to F.A.S.T.racing today.I've never seen a blaster he's built, but I have seen some of the banshees he's done. They were awesome. His prices seem reasonable too.Not for sure I'll get him to do the work, but most likely will.He sure can build one mean banshee.I only saw 3 banshees he has built.I only seen two of them run.I wouldn't have a prayer against them on my banshee. They were extremely impressive.Any of you ever had him port a blaster for ya?How about a banshee?
-
Don't tell anyone about me owning a blaster.LOL!! I'm building it for me and my wife.I'd build it faster(probably go overboard),but don't want it so fast that it will get away from her.She normally rides a 500 polaris scrambler. She really likes riding my brother's v-force so I want it to be competitive with it.I'm thinking a mild port job and a pipe.I want a pipe that is not all topend.Want a good power gain and a nice sounding pipe.I hear alot of people talking about LRD.Also heard good things about CPI.What do you guys think?
-
I just bought a blaster dirt cheap. No,it's not stolen.I plan to do some riding with it,but my wife is wanting to possibly get into drag racing.I think it will be a good one for her to learn on.She's not ready for the banshee yet.Any of you ever built a blaster?I know I'll get it ported, wiseco piston, bigger carb.,etc...It will stay a gas burner(no alcohol).Considering a CPI pipe.Who is the man when it comes to porting a blaster?Any suggestions?

Best Exhaust For Banshee Out on the market
race-a-holic replied to Jay87's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
I liked the Toomey T-5.They have a good chrome finish and good horse power gains as well. The Toomey needles are a good investment also. The T-5's work good with ported banshees also.Didn't care a whole lot for the T-6 and the FMF Fatty.Just my opinion. If you are more interested in drag racing,I really like the shearer in-frame pipes.Awesome mid to top end power. They work really well with a very good port job and bigger carbs.CPI is also a good pipe for ported banshees.A friend of mine has a banshee with very mild porting, and he uses the Pro-circuits.The bike runs very well. For a ported banshee,I'd get the shearers.Might try the CPI's also. For a banshee with stock cylinders,I'd probably go with the T-5's. -
Jetting for T5's is WAY off....why?
race-a-holic replied to 80overShee's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
I had the T-5's,Toomey needles, and no air box.I was using a 420 main jet.I was using a dyna ignition also. Some of your problem may be the needle. If the needle is too high it will try to drown out in the mid-range keeping it from revving quickly to the top end.It should have no problem with the 280.Try raising the clip on the needle. This will lower the needle. You should be spanking the 400's.The Dyna ignition has alot hotter spark, and you have to jet it fatter for the added spark.Might also want to consider the clamp-on style K&N filters. This will allow you to get rid of the air box. -
Stock vs. stock.Sure it might beat a banshee.Say some guy is on his new raptor and is so cocky he decides to race one of the big drag banshees. You know, the near 700 cc. banshees. The raptor owner better hope he doesn't get behind the banshee's roost. Here comes the pain.
-
PM me if you have any more questions.I'm new to the alcohol too,but trying to learn as fast as I can.Might can save you some trouble. Not a pro tuner by any means though, but will try to help.
-
My experience with the T-6,I'd say get rid of them.At least get a T-5.Much better on top end with more mods. than a T-6.These guys know what they're talking about when they say get it ported. My friends with ported quadzillas were smoking me when my shee was just piped.Got it ported, and that stopped.BIG,BIG difference.Porting and a good set of pipes(shearer,cpi,etc..) is where the real power is at,and you don't have to worry about the nitrous bottle going empty.Power all the time.I also tried nearly all the bolt-ons.Trust me get it ported.
-
Sure you can.Mine is.I would like to try one made out of chrome moly though. It's made up of two bars. The top bar connects to where the shock linkage bolts up to the swingarm. The bottom bar bolts up to where the skid plate use to bolt up.
-
RDZ done my porting.I have the level 2 porting. It made a huge difference.Still rideable too.More torque and horsepower too.I also have his' alcohol carbs. and pipes.Get the crank welded too.Bike pulls extremely hard. You'll be surprised. While not finished dialing in,it dynoed at 73hp. and 42 ft.lbs.of torque.A friend of mine rode it awhile back.He said his' hands were cramping up from trying to hold on.It seems to never quit pulling.PM me if you need to.

I use alcohol in my banshee.I mix the oil 40 to 1.You need to purge it the end of every day that you ride.I purge with 93 octane mixed with the same type of oil I use(Benoil). The easiest way I've found to purge the quad was to take a small funnel, put a hose over the end of the funnel.Hook it to the T in the fuel line.Run it for about 3 minutes.I also drain the gas tank at the end of the day too.I don't know if it's the oil breaking down or what, but if I have left over gas mixed with oil that has sit for awhile,I'll find stuff floating in the alcohol.Alot of stuff.
