  1. Use a b8es(stock).I believe all the settings have more spark, just different timing curves.Dyna told me to go up 3 jet sizes.
  2. I'd go with the RDZ(shearer's).Mine pull really hard on top end.Although,I've seen some fast banshees with the cpi's.I've never actually seen a set of rockets.Except for pictures, but I like the looks of the shearer and the cpi better.Just one guy's opinion.
  3. LOL.rocketboy, that about the boost bottle, cracked me up.You're right about it being useless. I think he's talking about maybe the fatty series. There are better pipes, but most anything is better than stock.
  4. Stay with the 410's.Dude your problem is probably gearing and traction. If you are running on the pavement.Stay with the stock swingarm.1/8th mile, probably gearing should be at 15/41.Build a wheelie bar.Take off at wide open throttle and you should eat his lunch. Also for dirt, you need some better tires.Try either 4-snows or prowedge 2's.Don't use them on pavement. You should get alot better traction.Once again, another victory for you. You'll probably, with these tires, have to gear at 13/41 maybe even 12/41.Don't worry about the lower gearing, because these tires actually get taller while accelerating.Run them at 3 psi.Launch in second also. That will get you off the line quicker.A friend of mine has Pro-circuits on his stock cylinder banshee, and I've seen that bike beat piped yfz's(on top end) and alot of piped banshees.Everyone wants more power, but most forget about getting the whole bike dialed in.You could be making over a 100 hp.,but it's useless if you can't get it to hook up.I'm learning that the hard way.Mine's no 100 hp.,but it dynoed at 73.That was before some more tuning. With the 4-snows,mine will punish the wheelie bar.
  5. I've tried both the T-5 and the T-6.Definitely get the T-5.They pull better on top end.Don't believe the magazine articles that say how much better the T-6 is.It's not true. The T-5 is a great pipe for both stock and mildly ported cylinders.
  6. Are you using stock carbs?I'm using 35mm Keihin pwks. You talk about a stiff throttle. It was awful. After about 5 or 6 passes,I could not even hardly push the thing.I don't like twist throttles.Tried a rubber throttle extension.Hated it.I would not remove the spring.Instead,Take the spring out and with it not compressed cut about a 1/2 in. off each spring. Then reinstall them. That should help.
  7. I don't think it's the jetting.Either a slide out of sync or,If you have stock carbs.,the TORS could be acting up.
  8. I've tried the fmf fatty,Toomey T-5,and T-6.The fatty was ok.The T-5 is the absolute best of the three.I hated the T-6 because they don't pull good on top end.Don't believe the articles in the magazines about how much better they are than the T-5.I actually traded the T-6 to get the T-5.Great decision.Get the Toomey needles. The T-5 works great on stock or mildly ported cylinders.Don't sound like you're interested in a drag port anyways.Definitely get the T-5's.Also get rid of the airbox and get the clamp-on K&N filters.
  9. My bike has RDZ level 2 porting,RDZ pipes, and alcohol carbs(RDZ racing.com).I've beat banshees with out of frame pipes.I would rather own my in-frames.My banshee is still rideable, but not great for trails. It dynoed at 73 h.p. at the rear wheels.42 ft. lbs. of torque.I think this bike is awesome.Especially with the budget I'm on.
  10. Just got back from Little Sahara, had a great time. Two of my friends that went were racing. One was riding a piped banshee, and the other was a piped YFZ.They were dead even through the gears, but the banshee was a little faster on top end.Banshee aftermarket performance parts are endless. For drag racing,to me I would go with the banshee. Porting really wakes these bikes up.
  11. Of all the quads I've owned,my banshee is my favorite by far.Of course,I love drag racing. It will run off and leave the raptor I had. Some dialing in will be required if you install pipes and filters(make sure you talk to the company you get your pipes from for proper jetting),but once you get it dialed in just keep it maintained and go have fun.The engines hold up good. They are right, most guys work alot on their bikes because we are constantly trying to make them faster. It's addictive.
  12. If you want the most out of your banshee, you'll need the pro wedges. The razors won't give you enough traction.Especially off the line.My banshee would spin really bad with holeshots.I switched to 4-snows.Both are good tires. These type of tires get excellent traction. These tires get taller when accelerating, giving you more topend. They are worth the money.
  13. Had my throttle hang up one year in Little Sahara. The problem was the throttle cable.Look at the cable where it it goes from one to two.The two cables will slide out and hang you up.Make sure they are both in the main cable and wrap them to the main cable with electrical tape. The problem shouldn't come back.Good luck.
  14. A friend of mine had a Banshee with Pro circuit pipes and clamp-on filters that would sound like a 22-rifle went off once he got up in the gears. It sounded awful.Surprised it didn't burn it up.He put bigger jets in it and the problem stopped. He now runs 400jets.The bike runs really good know. He's beat alot of piped Banshees.
  15. Do any of you use RDZ pipes?I have RDZ pipes, alcohol carbs.,and RDZ level 2 porting. The porting helped alot.LT500's use to spank my Banshee, but that stopped when I got it ported. Still trying to get the jetting right, just put on the pipes and carbs. What size jets do you use and do you like the pipes? What spark plugs do you use,and how much do you gap them?I feel Rob has done a good job on my bike.Let me know what you think. How do RDZ Banshee's compare to other ported Banshees?
  16. I'm going to St.Joe this weekend(March 12).Do any of you ride there?Let me know if any of you are going to be there, and what you'll be riding.Hope to see you there.I'll be on a red and white Banshee, and my brother will be on either a green V-Force or a yellow LT500.
  17. Several of my buddies ride Quadzillas, and I guarantee you a stock zilla will smoke the others.Just pipes,a Banshee won't beat them.A Banshee that has really been hopped up will run off and leave the zilla.Guaranteed!
  18. I've never raced a tecate, but I got beat by several 250r's.I had porting, but still had stock carbs.Just switched to alcohol and race pipes.250r's look out JUDGEMENT IS COMING!!!!!
  19. What type of track will you be racing on:dirt, asphalt,or sand?We all want more power, but don't forget about tires and gearing. It's hard to beat somebody when you're spinning the tires off of it.What ever type of track you go to,look to see who the faster guys are and ask them. There is some really rude people out there, but I've meet some really helpful people also.Any other way we can help, just let us know.
  20. I believe it is the jetting.A friend of mine had a Banshee with pro-circuit pipes and K&N filters.Once it hit it's top end, it would pop like a 22-rifle went off.Sounded awful. He put bigger jets in it,and the popping stopped. It ran a lot faster too.He ended up putting 400 jets in it.It's run good ever since. No problem with fouled plug either.
  21. Not sure about the jetting where you live, but I live in Arkansas(please no redneck jokes.)When I first got my Banshee,It had fmf fatty pipes,clamp-on filters(good idea unless you ride in alot of water or mud),and 270 jets.I kept jetting up to see what it could handle.I ended up with 380's.No bottom end,but it would really run on top end.Lost some mid range.Your best bet may be to try to contact FMF.Some where between 280 and 320 would be a safe bet.Are you competitive with other piped Banshees? If another Banshee beats you pretty bad,he could be ported. It made a big difference with mine.Money well spent, but don't let just anybody do it for you.
  22. Last week I went to an 1/8th mile track. This was the first time out with the alcohol carbs. The first pass was a 9.70.I was not happy!!!With a small adjustment to the carbs. On the third pass,I run a 8.67.First gear launches;spinning like crazy.Still lifting the front end in 4th gear.Gearing was 15/41.Want to try a 16 on the front.Don't get the tires wet(went right after a car went down).Tried to avoid the water he done a burnout in.Tried to heat my tires up,but it didn't work. When the light turned green, this thing went nuts!Lifted the front end and tried to go sideways.Still beat the 400EX I was racing though. The Raptor I had would not have a chance against this Banshee.
  23. Alot depends on the type of porting you got.Mild or all out drag port.RDZ done my porting. With that and T-5's and stock carbs.I run a 5.4.Not sure if my gearing was right.Tires are very important. When running paddles on a dirt track,I run a 5.8.Switched to Maxxis 4-snow tires and dropped to a 5.4.The pro wedges work good too.
  24. Better listen to Rocketboy.I'd at least put 280 jets in it.That should keep you from burning it up.Calling Trinity would be a good idea.
  25. Better listen to Rocketboy.Depending on where your at,I'd at least put 280 jets in it.May have to go larger. That ought to keep you from burning it up.
