  1. I've seen stock motors with only an air filter separate the crank. I've seen full bolt on bikes never have a problem... So...it's really a matter of luck vs. insurance... When a crank goes, it usually takes at the least a piston with it, possibly a rod, cylinder sleeve...etc. that being said, it's insurance I like to invest in.... It's usually 75 to 125 bucks, give or take...
  2. Whomever charged you 250 to true and weld the crank should've included a bottle of lube with it, that's outrageous... Even if they put a TZ bearing on the PTO and Igntion side, that's still HIGH AS HELL.... Other than that...you got some parts used on there, or at least posted used parts pricing, good for you...way to save a few bucks...
  3. What...you're taking a leak and typing on your blackberry at the same time...I thought Greg warned you about those Pirate Hookers.... LOL.... They look pretty cool, but how they hold up in real world time will tell...
  4. I don't care what you bolt on to your motor, you're not getting 70-80 HP on a stock port with pistons and a crank only... get it ported...
  5. Jaxy...you'd be wasting your money... YOu could bolt on a 10 mil cheetah cylinder with powervalves and have more displacement AND powervalves. Twister is just another aftermarket company that makes cylinders for a banshee based motor, from small to large tripple cylinder race motors. They're just like anything else...some love 'em, some hate 'em, they have good and bad points...etc. Fastest on the planet was Dan Hull from A&S on a Triple twister at Planet sand @ 3.18....
  6. For PC based, I've always believed in IBM products, however....I've never used a Leveno product since they bought out the IBM desktop/laptop products.... Every IBM notebook I've used and/or had (for work, 5 total in the last 10 years) they are a ROCK...period.
  7. Wherever you see fit. I have a friend that drilled the bottoms and used a 90 degree fitting for a very, very clean look. Granted most of us run out of frames, but I understand!!
  8. Drill the cylinders, much easier and cleaner... You want the reeds as close to the cylinders as you can get them...this is not a trail bike. My 10 mil was done the way I described, we got it all together and totally forgot to drill it for the vacuum barb. Rag, shop vac and a drill. Ran it all season, still going.....no issues with it unless you count the smoked piston due to getting greedy and leaning it out....
  9. You're correct...it is exposed to a pulse (pos and neg pressure). However, it's not necessary.... I'm still curious as to if these are for his 4 mil cub in his cylinder, or another motor... You don't need reed spacers on a cub...that's really my point. Putting them on only to have a fuel pump barb is not a great idea, that's a few more gaskets for an air leak...
  10. Or if Ray was on the smack or not....
  11. If you have a 4 mil cub, why are you using reed spacers?? If it were me, I'd pull on side off, stuff a rag down the intake, get a shop vac on the inside and drill it from the outside. Between the vacuum and the rag, you'll be fine.... I sure wouldn't trust that...to be honest.
  12. Yep, wanted to add these are hand built cone pipes, not the stamped production version, normally they're good for a few ponies. Those pipes are a steal, if I had a smaller motor I'd be all over them me self... Good luck, good price...free bump. bada...you got these up on PS too?
  13. Incorrect...on some pumps. My Mikuni DF62 (Octagon high flow pump, 65L per hour) will work on vacuum only... I can't speak of others cause that's the only kind I use.
  14. Porting, 4 mil crank and proper head/dome work to make the crank work... Just porting alone will make your bike night and day difference, but if you're gonna tear it down all the way, get a crank if you have the $$...
  15. You guys are really missing the point.... I know the pic is just for reference Jared, but there's more to porting then just the intake...actually, a LOT more. The size of the transfers and more importantly the height/width of the transfers and exhaust is a lot more than just grinding a blade into the intake bridge... I agree that it's a cleaned up cylinder, the boost ports, finger ports or worm holes as they're called are supposed to add a little bottom end in a motor that is lacking just that (no power valve)... However, there's a lot more to it than that. Also...and NYUK pointed out in a thread somewhere...you can't tell how a motor is going to run by looking at ports. You could look at a port job and think Stevie Wonder held Ray Charles hand with a dremel while having a seizure...but they could run like a raped ape.
  16. I have a used spring in the Box O' parts I got from someone. let me see if it has numbers on it. If it meets your needs, you can have it, just pay shipping...I'll try to remember to look later today...
  17. WTF are you talking about??? That bike is flawless...and as said, it would take 30K plus to build it. he's got pics somewhere of his other bikes. That's the kinda bike you buy if you have deep pockets and want a looker and a runner without going through all the BS of the build. That's a spotless, beautiful bike period...
  18. I disagree...they run fine right out of the box. However, they should be cleaned up...the casting flaws on some are worse than others. Mine wasn't too bad. I spent probably an hour or two cleaning up and smoothing the intakes and transfers were the casting halves meet. Cleaned up is all you need. For 5 grand, hell...you could've bought a bike completely done, bumper to bumper, spark plug to drain plug....
  19. Not if you know the right people.... If you plan on straight line drag racing only, get a drag axle. You wouldn't believe how much lighter they are... If you're gonna dune, keep the stocker.
  20. Wes...if you or someone you know has a Sam's Club membership, this deal for what you get is very hard to beat, it's got a little bit of everything...and the back pack is very, very top notch quality. I've recommended this to probably 5 or 6 people and they thank me over and over again. Justin...by no means did I mean a 12 inch screen mini portable, they're way too much. I was thinking 15.1 vs like a 17 inch screen... Here you go Wes. http://www.samsclub.com/shopping/navigate....amp;item=372141
  21. Don't polish it too much, you want a bit of a rough texture for the fuel and air to atomize better...that's why you don't see shiny smooth intakes or ports on motors...
  22. Stocks are 26mm. Perhaps they're bored already...can you post a pic?
  23. Dayummn...that was funneey...
  24. I have two coils that are missing the end caps. What are they worth to you? They came in a box of bulk parts I got...just no end caps.
  25. IMO...at 3 grand with a fresh 4 mil cub motor is a steal. Don't sacrifice it any more, unless you're in a tight bind for cash. Since you're looking for a 4 poke, I'm assuming your not. Did you post this bike over on Planet Sand, how about Craigs List? That bike is too nice to give away....best of luck to you. Hate to see guys have to give things away....
