  1. Any steel that hasn't been coated may rust. The cases themselves are cast aluminium...you're A OK there. Remove any clips/etc. that could be lost by the the water pressure...otherwise, fire away. Throw some WD40 on it after you wash and dry them, that way you don't have to worry about corrosion, and it'll wipe off fine. Then use brake clean to clean it and dry it before assembly. Brake clean is one of the best inventions ever, it rests up there with Duct Tape and JB Weld.....LOL.
  2. WOW...too bad for that guy, I know it took time and money to build that. I don't care for the fenders...but that is a bad ass mill for sure....
  3. Yeah, did my taxes last month and I itemize all my stuff I buy, luckily....my girl is very supportive of me and this sport, since she helped me organize receipts, etc... LOL... She did shake her head a few times, though....
  4. I'm sure I'm going to pay 25 a year, the site makes me money selling and buying parts. I just can't say I'm too happy about it. I can afford it...if I couldn't, I'm in the wrong sport...that's for sure. Once again, it's the method of delivery, I don't like to be force into it....
  5. Travis...I see your points. However... Banshee HQ has no where near the sponsor dollars poured in as PS does. HQ has always been free...people pay out of their own pockets on their own accord, it has never been forced on us, we've never been asked for a dime, nor has Lee ever said...ok, today this works, in a few weeks...it won't...unless you pay. I don't think it's about the money. I think for most people it's not... It's the fact that it's a change. For what has been free so long, now we'll be forced to pay for it. Travis, I'm in the IT business. I know how much servers cost, bandwidth costs, etc. The points they keep selling it on is the limited bandwidth and server space, which is BS. If Charlie needs to make money on his site because his other business isn't making any, or PS is taking up so much of his time...fine. Come out and say it. Don't post your phone number for people to call. When someone calls him, by the time that story is filtered down to 20 other people...none of the facts are straight anymore. Why not just post it ...so no one can misinterpret the facts. Here's what he needs to post. It's not only the server costs, bandwidth, software, etc., it's my personal time taking me away from my day to day business, and I feel the need to be compensated for that. Not get rich overnight, but be compensated. At the end of the day, everyone's time is worth money. I understand that. I don't pretend to have all the answers, but I can tell you I've offered my help and Free documentation and software to help with pictures and server bandwidth. I sent a note to a few mods and even to Charlie himself. You think he took me up on that, gave it a second thought, etc.? No...not one single effort to even acknowledge my offer. Not even a thanks, but no thanks. But now server bandwidth, etc., are costing him so much money??? How about this. Give everyone search and PMs. Limit inbox to 25 messages per person, similar to what we do here. If they pay, increase that. Prune old members or non posting members. GET RID OF THE 1000 page long thread why I lost a star??? C'mon... Get rid of the shoutbox. Ask people to donate money, don't tell them they have to pay or else. There are plenty of other sites with 10X the member base, 10X the content and are still 100% free....and they still find a way to survive in today's world. I value PS very much. I appreciate it's content...and I've made a lot of good friends there. He tried the gustapo before. I agree, this time is much different. Although, despite multiple requests...he has not set a date for cutoff. Ask for money to help the site and to compensate him for his time, not force people to pay or use a lesser quality PS. That's just my take....
  6. Ah...borderline call. Normally, I'll shoot the member a PM.
  7. Hell...it's too damn cold in April, let alone march.... I don't like going too early. I don't have a duner anymore, but I've heard plenty of horror stories of guys going up a hill, on the back side and there was a shit ton of snow on the other side still. That tells me I should've waited a while. April just seems to cold/wet for me.
  8. At least he's going about it a "better" way this time, however..I still disagree with the choice. Time will tell how many people make the move...
  9. Chisel and hammer, and patience...if you can't get the correct tool. What you need is an impact driver as NYUK said. Here they are: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/disp...temnumber=93481 I'm not saying get it from harbor freight, some of their tools are hit and miss, cheap...etc. But that's what you need. The first thing I've done with my last few bikes is get rid of the phillips screws that hold the side covers on and get stainless allen heads. Just to avoid this particular problem.....
  10. You might get it, might not....who knows. There are different markets throughout the country, what might go for 1200 here in MI goes for 2300 to 2500 in California. Good luck to you....I say get all you can get. Now if you wanted 12 or 15 K, then I might've said something....but I would've used a PM.... Give the guy a break you two....
  11. Dekker...I'm measure 'em again when I get home...if I remember...LOL... Seems to be happening more and more these days. I can get them in the hands of a local MI guy that will be out there, or mail them off to you. Whatever you choose.
  12. Chev. I am lifting the ban for you. We've all done something stupid a time or two, hell...I'm often the biggest offender there. I think a funny thought turned into a bad idea...please, play nice.
  13. That is one clean shee, put it up on Craigslist in your area...
  14. Ok...a few things. VF3 didn't dyno better on Snop's bike. In every dyno run I've seen...your typical twin carb setup from T5 to Shearer out of frame pipes...the VFs did make more power. It depends on your application... Dave Noss makes a fine aftermarket head, as does Chariot IMO. If the bike runs better cold...is your jetting too rich perhaps? Cold motors like more fuel than warmed up ones (hence the need for a choke to start cold) I've yet to see proof of any aftermarket head keeping an engine's temps down. The benefits of an aftermarket head are replaceable domes to suit your needs and Orings to seal it vs. a head gasket. Each has it's benefits and disadvantages. Dave Noss is a great guy and a site sponsor. Give him a call....or visit his site. nossmachine.com
  15. Try Jeff @ FAST...he stocks all kinds of silly stuff like that. If not, PM NYUK or Minkia38. I'm sure they have one for you....
  16. They're called Predaturds for a reason...all I'm saying.
  17. 56K hell....I have two T1 lines at work and it still froze up on that site. If you agree to play nice, I will let you back on now. But use your head. You were warned...and carried on anyway... Are you going to play nice?
  18. You could do some serious damage at the races that allow for non naturally aspirated 4 strokes on that thing. Problem is the big motor size, you'd be running against some fast, high 3 bikes... Keep us posted. That thing is an animal!!!!
  19. Your caps lock privileges have been revoked....LOL. You run any times on that Canned Ham...
  20. I wouldn't downshift without the clutch on any tranny, especially an override, dunable or regular. With the clutch, no problem (downshifting)
  21. Rebuild it, check for air leaks with a leak down tester.
  22. Dekker...I promised them to another member a week or two ago. I sent him measurements on them. I got them from another member on here for free...but, I can't use them. I'd only ask shipping, they ends are a little mashed from using a happer to beat them in...but, free is free. I'll measure them up again tonight and get pics IF I can remember.... JT...I will help you tune the Lectrons in. Might have to get gravity seats/needles. I need a few things from Packard, maybe I'll call him up and get 'em in time!!
  23. Well..IMO, they just went to hell in a hand basket. They haven't enforced it yet, but they'll be charging 25 a year to use PMs and the search...just so they can continue to use the current software and hardware. Now I'm no expert....but... Currently, it has over 24,000 members. If ONLY 5% of it's members paid 25 bucks, that's over 30K a year. That's not including site sponsors, etc. Which pay between 500 and 1000 a year to be a "platinum" sponsor. I find it hard to believe a website costs that much to build and maintain....yearly. Sorry...IMO it's about greed.... Making members pay for search and PMs is ridiculous....period. If I was a site sponsor and made a good portion of my living off that site, I'd be a little unhappy.....
  24. Pretty sweet... 91MPH wouldn't be that tough to beat on a good running aftermarket cylinder shee....LOL.
  25. Yep. Shearers and Lectrons. All yours. HOWEVER....you know these pipes don't have a mark on them...the top pipe hasn't been run since I got it back from repair/rechrome from Shearer... Enuff said. Consider that payment for making me some stinger tubes. Make you a deal...hold onto the pipes to make the stingers, so I don't have to measure for you. Give them back when done. If you can find a better offer than that...you just let me know...LOL. I would borrow you my paddles, but Newtz has dibbs on them for Gilbert.
