agreed on all points, she was very cool. I haven't talked to her in years either, but figured there were some old timers here like myself that would want to know.

Trails or Dune...Which requires more skill.
IrideA250R replied to Keyser Soze's topic in General Banshee Discussion
agreed here. Small dunes like Silver Lake Michigan or Little Sahara OK are pretty easy. Large dunes like St. Anthony, LS Utah, or Glamis take some skill (and balls) to ride to their full extent. There are hill climbs in Utah and Idaho that will kill you if you aren't careful. If you're in the wrong gear or let the power fall off the pipe, you might as well jump off the bike and let it go, because you will NOT stop it from going back down the hill. Trails can take a lot of skill too, it just depends on the trail and the pace you ride it. -
sorry if this is a repost, I didn't see any other topics on this here, and wanted to let everyone know. I received news today via Facebook that Brooke has passed away. I don't really know much info, I know she had a large part in putting this site, Sandbros etc together, and wanted to share the bad news with the site. http://www.bchfh.com/obituary.php?1942 http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/mainetoday-pressherald/obituary.aspx?n=brooke-elizabeth-walton&pid=140189149 sorry if this isn't in the right place, feel free to move. Pete

I would get a Raptor 700. YFZ 450s are good too, but the suspension and seats are pretty stiff, especially in 04 and 05. The Raptor 700 has lots of torque, nice seat and suspension, and reverse. No way would I buy a Banshee over a Raptor 700 or YFZ for trail riding.

TrinityRacing has a new toy!
IrideA250R replied to TurboBanshee420's topic in General Banshee Discussion
because Trinity is over-hyped, overly expensive junk (especially their porting) -
if anyone wants a brand new in the box banshee...
IrideA250R replied to official_style's topic in General Banshee Discussion
do it yourself and learn. -
I agree, 290 to 320 on the mains, and richen the needle up as well by raising the clip to the 2nd notch from the bottom.

I run 28mm PWKs, they are awesome.

I've ridden the crap out of my Banshee this summer, it has a complete YFZ front end (with YFZ Elka shocks) and it's been great. I used the spacers and tie rods from the OP.

you'll be glad you bought the Toomey setup. I bought them earlier this year and they fit much better and are 0 hassle compared to the old clamp on ones that scrape the hell out of your silencers. here is a shot of my Banshee with them installed: http://www.silverlakesandduners.com/pics/a...eehaulerswp.jpg

22's in the front are better in the sand, like Jay said they help the front end float better.
-
here is how I did mine on my duner. I wasn't totally done with them in these shots, but you get the idea.
-
the reed pedals will not interchange. I run the 3's on my dune ported 350 and love em.
-
stick with the 21cc domes if you want to run pump fuel. I run 19's and I have 175 psi compression and run race fuel. It's possible you could get away with 20's, but why push it?
-
ran it in my 250R's for years with 190-230 lbs cranking compression. Works great and is cheap.

SHOULD I LET DEALER FIX IT ?
IrideA250R replied to MUDDUCK BANSHEE's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
hey man, go get your bike from that dealership (god I can only imagine which one...I hope not Tousley!). Tear the cylinders off yourself and send them to a reputable builder for a bore job + pistons + port job. 90 and 96 PSI is low, but go elsewhere. You can also build a leakdown tester yourself (just do a search) and do it yourself. Honestly, I don't own a leakdown tester yet, and haven't really needed one. It's fairly easy to tell when you have a leaky crank seal on the transmission side because you suck tranny fluid, and on the stator side it will go lean and high idle etc. I highly doubt this is your problem. As far as builders, I've had really good luck with Dan @ Patriot Racing, Dan Hull 2 A&S, Dave Moore at DMR, Jeff at FAST, and Brad Tyson at Tyson racing. There are many more too that do business here. Unfortunately I haven't found anyone here in the Twin Cities yet that I trust to bore my cylinders, so for a few bucks I'll just send them out to be done. A Banshee really isn't the bike to own if you don't want to get real involved with them, and learn them inside and out. I don't live too far from you, so if you're in a bind I can lend a hand as well. Good luck, and get that bike away from the dealership! -
jetting 28mm KIEHIN CARBS NEED HELP!
IrideA250R replied to ptevo03's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
start at a 155 main with a 45 pilot, that will get you close but will probably be a little rich. I run the JJH needles in mine on the 2nd clip from the bottom. -
I've had bad luck with them, they claim they are billet, yet they are cheaply chromed cast aluminum. I had 2 sets the chrome flaked off after 3 months, and the internal connectors they used to hold the bulbs in corroded and fell apart as well. I hope you have better luck with them than I did.

Boss Aluminum parts vs. Lone Star Racing Aluminum parts

the tube in the carrier deal...I would think thats fairly common for that tube to settle out of place during shipping? -
what are you guys running for gearing?
IrideA250R replied to mopar1rules's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
14/42 with 21x12x8 8 paddle double buffs. Patriot ported 350, 19cc domes, T5's, +7 timing with 28mm PWKs -
Zillas are parts eaters. BAD. The main bearings can spin in the case, leaky headgaskets, hard to find parts/pipes. I would stay away.

Thinking About Giving Jeff (f.a.s.t) Some Business
IrideA250R replied to 350BANSHEE350's topic in General Banshee Discussion
why not call Jeff and talk to him? He's a great guy and will answer any questions you have, and does great work to boot. -
he's a great guy, I've had nothing but good experiences and great work from Dave.
