Change the tranny oil. The trans on the one I rode was anything but notchy. Also make sure the service goons adjusted the clutch lever to disengage the clutch.
-
AC propegs are a pain to install. Will be a project. Also have personally seen them break peg mounts off a brand new frame.
-
I am just waiting for the iron cross trend to die. Even Bling Star is coming out with other designs.
-
Also your weight plays a role. I didn't like the 15 at first, but I weigh 235. Now that the porting and jetting is dialed, I like it much more.
-
I wasn't real happy with the 15 tooth sproket until I got my port work done. Of course I am 235 lbs, so there is more to pull. I rode a 450R, and I couldn't say I was at all impressed. Bike sucked mid to top. Sucked. And that was piped. When the bike was done up to 470, that was a different story. Night and Day difference from the bike I rode. If you are wondering, the one I rode was the Sand Addiction write up. Jeff is a friend, and he let me try it out. Being a Yamaha guy, he was stoked that I was impressed with the Honda. It's a sweet ride now.

Depends on where you are at. Cali has our own gas that is shittier than the rest of the country. I don't let my pump gas quad sit for over three weeks without some sort of stabilizer in the tank. I would at least top it off with premium. If it were me, I would drain it and run it in the lawn mower.

If money is a problem, have them blasted and ceramic coated. Then they will never rust. If you are happy with them, then don't get rid of them.

CDI's really can't be tested. You swap it with a know good one. Try your frame grounds. Make sure that they are not corroded. Does it run at all? Kick it in the dark, and make sure your coil isn't shorting to the frame. Have someone look for a spark in the dark.
-
Does it require a battery like the MSD? That's why I won't use the MSD. I don't want a battery going dead on me.

Back when I was 19 I tried to buy a GSXR1100. When I found out the insurance was going to be about twice the loan payment a month (about 250), I walked away from the deal. Insurance is crazy on a MC until you get around 25.

But the motor was screaming... Please kill me.
-
It's just a plate kit. It either bolts to the stock swinger, or welds there. It fits between the swinarm and the carrier. They break a lot. Pure junk.
-
Mine did that for a while, and I found that the coil wires were grounding to the fram at high RPMs. Let it get dark, and then start the bike. If it is grounding, you will see the spark jump.

DOT regulates any vehicle past a certain size or weight. Another example of government overstepping their boundries. I will say this, the concensus from LEO's has been, we don't care. It may or may not be legal, we can argue this till we turn red, but no actual LEO has said that they would ticket anyone or pull them over for it. -
The best would be a full new shock from someone. Elka would be a good match since they did your fronts. You get more travel over the stock rebuilds.
-
That's a bracket kit for the stock swingarm. Unless you plan on driving around with your quad in the bed of your truck, I would avoid those.

I just talked to a PD officer with over 30 years of traffic enforcement. He is not a Commercial guy, but he will put me in touch with one. First, you must have the valid license for Ca if you want to drive in Ca. We recognize licenses from other states, but you must be propperlly licensed and endorsed. If Ca requires a Class A with air brakes endorsement, you better have one from your home state. Air brake endorsement is a must. He also said that while there may be laws to mandate the MH uses, he doesn't see many people pull over a MH. Also, many of these regs are from DOT standards. They will not vary from state to state. More as I get in touch with a Commercial enforcement guy. -
My chains usually stretch the first couple of rides, then stay pretty consistant until they get worn out. Then they start stretching again.

Sounds like a simple valve adjustment issue. You have the TDC procedure correct. IIRC some cams on the 400EX require hard facing the rockers, so the cam does not wear the rocker arm down. You may want to check into that.

I will and post tomorrow. I will catch them at lunch. Most cops don't know/care about commercial stuff like that. But that doesn't mean you are legal. -

That's why there is a Noncommercial designator. To drive that legally in Ca you must have a noncommercial class A with an endorsement for air brakes. Also, yes the onus is on you, the user of the road to know and obey the rules of the road. Ignorance of the law is no excuse. CVC 12500 states (in many sections) that you must have a license to drive in Ca, and that it must be of the correct class, and have the correct endorsements for what you drive. No mention is made to the jurisdiction that extends you that license. If you guys want I can call one of my customers (I do database systems for police) and ask the commercial enforcement guys to give me thier take and cite me CVC sections to back them up. Any takers? -

You guys are way wrong. I'm not gonna argue this anymore. Get your tickets. You must be in compliance in the state you are drving in. Ask any DOT person. If you don't want to beleive me here: Commercial Drivers Handbook Page 1: Who needs a commercial license. -
You aren't going to be doing an MX two up so you should be OK. Take it easy and don't chuck her off the back. Make sure it's legal where you ride. It's an ugly ticket here in Ca. It's weird when we first get to Oregon, cause I am not used to seeing it.

If it's just the steering head, bend it back and gusset it. They are a weak spot in the Basnhee frame. It's common to bend in a crash. More serious frame damage will have to be inspected by a good welder to tell you the stesses in the area.
-
That would normally only cause it to slip. Shifting would be easier with a clutch that doesn't grab. I think you have a bent shift fork or bad shift star. Hopefully it's just a shift shaft. They are easy to replace.
