  1. Yeah, you need to have him check the plugs and make sure that it is jetted right. Then take the clutch cover off and check the impellar, the drive gear, hoses, the radiator cap itself, good coolant. If that all checks out then look at the way that he is riding, WOT and spinning the tires doesn't move too much air through the radiator. The next thing I would do is get a NOSS or Cool head for 250 or so and put it on yourself. These increase the coolant volume by increasing the area where the coolant flows and they also change the flow path to help in cooling.............
  2. Yeah, thats what I was wondering is if you are still running your T.O.R.S.. If so rip that shit off and get rid of it.............
  3. I agree with Dave on this one. I couldn't get my shee to hit nuetral for shit, whether I was reving it up, coming to a stop, cold, hot. I would have to shut it off and it would pop right in, and yes this has been a problem since they rolled off the assembly line in '87. I had boonman mod my star a few years back and now I can hit it any time I want................
  4. Did you check your pick-up, it may have been moved when you had it apart..........
  5. It sounds like you have already made up your mind, but I trust Jeff with FAST. The other builders are probably pretty good too, but I have never used them. Jeff may have a longer turn around time, but it also depends on the time of year, but he really knows his shit when it comes to these bikes. My 421 was worth the wait, and his customer service is second to none..........
  6. Yeah, I was with you on that one. The first thought that went through my head was English as a second language, but what the hell was the first one. I've been through Canada many times and I have never heard them talk like that................ But then again inthemail said they stopped smoking, and it was probably thirty seconds after they wrote that. Dude stick to the brownies............
  7. That pretty much sums it up..............
  8. I still call, bullshit................
  9. Damn, that is right on the money...............
  10. Hahahahahahahahahaha, I knew a kid in school that was just like that and damn that kid was always in trouble, but he came up with some funny shit thought..........
  11. And whomever told you a motor would only run on one cylinder if the pistons are in backwards needs to have their head checked... Plus, I heard that one cylinder would turn one way and the other would turn the other and cancel each other out. But on the other hand if both pistons were installed backwards your shee would have reverse. Couldn't help myself, just yankin' your chain man...............Dave's right the other guy was talking out his ass and needs to go ride his big wheel and stay away from your shee.
  12. I just lay on my shee and hang off the back to adjust the carrier. I put about 3/4" to 1" of slack on it and seems to be fine...........
  13. Yeah, jetting is a biotch. Once you get it in though the ride is awesome. I am still working the bugs out of my ride too...........
  14. I hear the dial-a-jet helps out a lot. My dad installed his on his bike but hasn't really used it yet and I want all the bugs worked out of mine before I even put it on...........
  15. Yeah, I run the T-5's and really like them, but plan on a new set of Shearer's in the near future
  16. I had boonman turn mine down, but I have not seen him on here in quite some time. Never once had a problem.................
  17. Yeah, I have been runnin' T-5's on mine, but am lookin' at gettin' either Shearer's or CPI's, not sure which work better. I've been happy with my T-5's, but I know this thing will scream with the better pipes.......... You need to make sure the rest of your motor and the rest of the bike are set up for the cubs, otherwise I would get pipes first............ I've heard the PT's run pretty good though
  18. Plus you can look at the picture of your carrier and it looks to me like your offset is pointed back, which is the tightest position for your chain. If the offset is in front then you have all the adjustment left in it. When you check the slack you should also be on your bike, so it is compressed, then put a tape from the ground up. When you move the middle of the chain up and down it should move around 1", exactly like it shows in the Clymer's. If you have it too tight, you will snap your chain and possibly do some damage.
  19. Make sure you bring lots of beer to help with that smile on your face when you get out to the sand and open it up...............
  20. Where are you in Northern Cali? I'm outside of Yuba City.............. Is the chrome on those yellowed or is it the lighting? The chrome color is different than the lights......
  21. A little here a little there, it all adds up.............
  22. Yeah, you need to level the playing field and at least get pipes. Believe me once you get that done you won't want to stop............ I flat out stomp my brothers modded Craptor, and it even shocked him so I told him he had better go balance his check book because he is going to be needing it...........
  23. Most definately.............
  24. I was going to get a saver and was considering the same one................
  25. Yeah, it looks like direct drive, but then I do believe that they changed the pattern some years back..........
