I will try and post some pics as soon as I can. Lately I have had a hard time because the file size has been to big. Anyways I plan on getting the frame sandblasted next week and then powercoated and painted a little later. I will get it right. Their so cool because like you said they are rare and hard to find. Also they are the only bike I know of to come with powervalves out of the factory. They said they produce 42 hp stock. Cant wait to get it running.

I just found a Tecate 4 wed and I bought it yersterday for 400$ It has been sitting outside for a while but the frame was in good shape and the tires are in good shape too. The engine was slightly taken apart. The case cover for the clutch was exposed and it was rusted a little because it was sitting outside in this barn but the barn didn't have a roof. The head and cylinder were off too so the piston was exposed with the bottem end. I turned it upside down and a little water came out. I am sending the motor out today to a guy from the kawieriders.com site. I told him what was wrong with it and he said thats no big. He said he will give me really good used parts from other tecate 4's He said he had like 30 of them. Anyways he said that at the worse case meaning the transmision gears and everything was bad it would still only be about 400 dollars for him to get it like new. I said sweet. Cant wait to get it. Still love my shee though.

My friends 88 banshee will not start up. He just did a topend rebuild and hooked everything up right it looks like and now it want start. He tried kicking it and their is compression but it just want fire. So he pulled it behing his car for like an hour trying to get it to fire last night. We checked to see if we could see a spark coming from the plugs and they did spark so I don't know why it want fire. When he pulls it behind the car it will rev up the engine and the lights will be on and bright, but it just will not fire. Have any tips. I still think that its something simple like a loose wire or something not wired up right. He doesn't have the key so he hot wired it. I'm not sure if its right so which wires go together?

I have sst's k&n with no snorkel but with lid on. Now I have 300 mains with back 2 inches of lid cut. My needle is in the stock position which is the 3rd or middle clip position. I guess I will try it. Its like you said its all trial and error. The worst part is that where I live the weather is so funny. It just snowed 11 inches and it was a high of like 17 degrees the other day and thursday it is supposed to be like 55-60 degrees. Its driving me nuts.

Well it feels like the rpms don't build like they did before I changed it. It doesnt just flat out bogg and it doesnt' sputter. The best way I know how to explain it is that it kind of hesitates from 1/4 to 1/2 throttle when I build the rpms. Its not terrible but I feel like it could be dialed in better. I have a question though. I thought that if it boggs down or sputters then it was rich. If what you said is true then what is a sign of it being rich.

I changed my main jets just about 2 weeks ago do to me cutting the back off the lid and to the temperature dropping. I think the main is pretty close to being right. But the 1/4 to 1/2 throttle is kind of bogging. I didn't change the needles but should I lean it out. Move the clip up right.

I have a friend that is missing his left banshee carb so I got a blaster carb off ebay for him. I know I need to change jets but what about the cross over hose. Do I just need to get a rubber hose or do I need to drill the carb a little bigger and then get a rubber hose. Thanks for any advice you can give.

I have a -1 lonestar roundhousing swinger and I would like to sometimes be able to drag race on the road. How do the wheelie bars hook up and could it work with what I have or what would be the cheapest way to keep my front end down.

Raced cbr 600 tonight
williamjernigan replied to williamjernigan's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Haters. I will be sure to get a video as soon as we line them up again. Oh yeah. For the guy that said it would do 90mph in first that is BS, they will do about 55-65 in first. But honestly I think its because he just cant come out the hole. I looked back the fist time we raced and he was like 2 bike lengths behind me when I was in third. -

No this is the truth I wouldn't waist my time BSing yall. Maybe he couldn't drive. All I know is, is that I killed him off the line and right at the finish he shifted to second and thats when he stomped my a**. I am going to race again soon and I will be sure to record it and post it where yall can view. This is no BS I promise -
Raced a 1/8 and I would have one but I kept popping up. I have ssts k&n and tors removal kit and -1 swingarm. He had a cbr 600 f3 with pipes and jetted. I killed him off the line but just kept popping up.

I want to know were the site is for the quadracers or suzukis and the site for the hondas or 250r is.

For a first timer it took me about 2 hours. That was with having to go get some carb cleaner and a few other things. Even if you have no experience it should only take you about 2 hours at the most. Just take your time when you grind material off the carbs, make sure you grind enough, and take your time when you clean them out. If you need any other assistance during your work just hit us up or pm me and I will get you through it.

I just got mine from magicracing.com I just got mine installed and it was straight foward and simple. I ran into what I thought was a problem, but I just forgot to unplug a freakin wire. Oh yeah, it is way more easy to work on your carbs or rejet without that tors crap. After I installed mine I changed the jets the next day and I didn't have to take off the pipes. They save weight time, and that = more and faster riding. GET IT.

Yeah thanks for your advice about the brain switch to boonman. That was all that it was. Once I unplugged that it took me about 3 min to get the idle screws were I wanted them.

Some of my friends say they go down to this drag stip in windsor north carolina and watch these 3 wheeler and 4 wheeler drag races. They swear up and down that their is a guy with a 250r atc that is the fastest and hasn't been beat by anything. They said he has pipes alcohol and motor work. They said that he has beat any banshee and says that they are pigs. I'm 22 years old so this story is not made up by a 13 year old, but I just cant believe what they are saying. They said he twisted his axle because it had so much torque. They said he has to start it buy pulling it with his car. This is what really is unbelievable. They said that he takes the base gaskets for the 3 wheeler and adds one to raise the cylinders. But he puts a thinner gasket on the head to lower that. So they said thats what makes it so much faster. Just curious if anyone has seen this or even seen a fast 250r atc dragger that is so fast that it beats 500cc banshees. I just don't believe it. But they said their going to take me down their to watch.

I got my bike back running after about 3 to 4 weeks. I have been waiting on some parts to come in so I could do everything at once. I got a -1 lonestar swinger off of ebay that is chrome and I got my tors installed and finally figured out my problem. I was having problems with it cutting off and not idleling so I figured out thanks to boonman that I forgot to unplugg the brain. Any ways I finally got to ride today and man I dont know if the removing the tors made a differece or rejetting made the difference, or if it was the swinger but man does it scream now. It seems to hook up so much better, due to the shorter swingarm. In 1st through 4th gear I felt like I was going to twist the axle it was grabbing so good. The carbs seem like they are free and rev smoother and more powerfully, without the tors crap.
-
I talked to boonman about my tors installation and he said that it want idle because I havn't unplugged the three wire connetor under the gas tank. I looked under the tank and their is two black boxes. One is small and to the left and the other is to the right. The one to the left is the brain module right. After I do this it should run fine once I get the idle screws adjusted appropriatly.

My friend has a banshee and he wants to burn alcohol. What will he need as far as motor work carbs, reeds, and domes or any information you can give. He has a stock motor.
-
If someone were to mix them up accidentally and have the right on the left and the left on the right, how would the banshee respond. I know that it want run good but, I want to know the symptoms. Just curious because that might be my problem to.

I posted a few topics about my problems with installing tors. I think that I found one of the problems. In the throttle unit the lever that holds the cable with the ball on the end I saw that the ball was not exactly sitting down in the lever that good. It was kind of at an angle. Anyways thats why I had to screw the throttle cable all the way out before I could get the lever tight. Now that that is fixed I need to sync carbs. The clymers says that you should hold the thottle all the way open and check the right carb to see if it is centered in window. I did that. Then it says adjust left carb until it is centered. I tried that but when I move one and get it centered the other is not centered. I know that this is simple as 1..2..3 but I can't get it. 2 more questions. The little wire that goes to the throttle housing that clicks when you open the thottle a little bit, what does that do. Is is something that I can uninstall or what. Also I think that I didn't file the inside of the carbs where I drilled though good enough because I looked through the airbox at the slides and you can see the hole for where the needle jet goes in. Its not much of a gap but its one anyways. And that was with the throttle closed and the screws all the way out.

which cable are you talking about disconnecting at throttle.

Yes, I have fmf sst's with a k&n filter. I had it with the lid on and no snorkel. So I figured that if the weather drops and I take off the lid then I will probrably need to start around 290 or 300 so that is what I did. I had 260 mains in their. I have checked all the hoses and I think that they are ok. I have them on tight anyways and I know that my jetting has to be off because it did the same thing when I bought it brand new. When I first got it, it would backfire and foul plugs. It did it so much that I took it to the dealership and he said that they come jetted really rich so you want run it lean. So he leaned it out for me and it ran excellent. Now it has basically the same problem. It just seems that I am really to rich now. For one thing I was rejjeting thinking that it was going to be mostly around 30 degrees but today was like 65 degrees. So that is one reason that it is too rich, atleast I think. Boonman said that he had the same problem with his so I am going to take them back off and grind a little more off and I am going to go with a 290 this time.
