  1. i am ready to have my cyclinders bored and ported i have heard good things about the work wicked does. i was just wandering what experiance any one on here has had if any with them. and if they are worthy of my money.
  2. if the insulation is chiped off of your stator coils it will do that. when the stator gets hot and is not insulated it will ground its self out. and she will die and not start until after it cooled off in about 5 to 10 min.
  3. check all your grounds first and then look over your harness. after that check the resisters in you plug caps. check for spark ater each thing. check your kill switch and key switch. read out your stator red wire to green. read or swap out your coil. swap cdi box. be sure to check for spark after every step so you know what did the trick and how to fix it again the next time. i had similar issues not to long ago. do a search for "replaced stator coil and cdi still no spark" i did every thing you could do with the electrical system.
  4. go and spend 15 bucks on a dimond tip drill bit. it will eat right thought that hardend steel. they cut through titainum like butter and that shit is hard to drill.
  5. i bought one after years of the screwdriver method and was pissed that i didn't buy one sooner because it was soooooo much easier to take them off and put the on 30 seconds tops for all 4. i only payed 5 buck though. highly recomend
  6. well here we go again. after all that work that i did to get it going again. shee ran soo good friday and saturday most of the day. saturday i am at sand moutain nv. and i make like 15 to 20 drag passes up the moutain and shee's pretty quick but i am still getting beat after about half way up the hill, so i decide to go hit some trails i hit up the big hill on the back side and at the topof the hill the top end let go on me. so here i come 4 mil and . 020 bore and port work.
  7. i actually checked voltage while i kicked it over . but as you say who cares it works.
  8. i had no problem runnin 20cc at sea level on 92. any thing smaller than that definately run race gas.
  9. thanks for all your in put guys. we now have spark . i went over every thing meticulusly to day sanded the ground pionts of the stator plate and all the other ground points and reinstalled my harness. i allso checkedthe voltage out put to the ignition from the stator every thing checked out well with in specks. i read out the plug caps and the one to the left cylinder was bad so i replaced it. kicked it over and nothing. then i remembered that i didn't hook up the ground to the harness so i hooked that up. expecting the worst and hopnping for the best i was holding the plug metal in hand and gave her a kick, my arm went numb up to my elbow for a couple of minutes. i have never been so happy to get lit up like a christmas tree. thanks for all your help guys. i've said it befor and i'll say it again you guy rock. the only thing that sucks is i did so much that i don't know what exatly fixed it. oh well just an excuse to up grade is how i see it all.
  10. has any one ever gotten a bad stator from ricky stator before? i do have brand new spark plugs propberly gapped, i have checked the cap and they are good. i held my finger directly to the plug wire(metal in side) while i kicked it and got nothing. and if the lights flicker when i kick it, it seams to me that the fly wheel isn't the problem. i don't have any one to swap parts with because all my budies ride four strokes.
  11. ok so now i am pretty sure that the green/yellow wire is from the park brake witch. i pulled off the harness today and read it out, all the wires are good. so now i am going to pull the fly wheel back off and recheck the grounds on the back of stator plate and make sure that none of the wires are pintched. and if none of this shit work i am gonna take it to the shop. thanks for all your in put guys.
  12. if you mean tors elimination kit. i got one of ebay for $45
  13. how much $ did it set him back to have the stealership do it.
  14. i know that its not the tors because the tors conector has three wires.
  15. yes i am using a multi meter to test wireing. key switch wired red to black. the instructions that came with the stator fom ricky stator said set the air gap between .010 and .015. .015 is as close as i can get it. the known good coil has its own caps. i looked over the harness again this morning all grounds are good i noticed that at the front of the harness up by the light kill switch plug there is a two plug conector that has a geen with yellow striped wire and a black wire. i traced the green and yellow wire back to the cdi. i don't remember unpluging it and can't find where it plug in to.
  16. z 400 are the biggest turds i have ever riden even with pipes on them. i have seen blasters beat them.
  17. if i remember correctly from when i put on my pro design head that there are two stock studs that are longer than the rest. i believe that they are in the middle up front. so you might wanna get both of them.
  18. i run a small riser and cr high bends and they are still lower than stock. they do make cr double high bends. they look plenty high to me.
  19. the tors box is gone already. i have the removed key switch and the wire jumped together. kill switch is clean and in good working order as far i as i can tell.
  20. ok so i replaced my stator and pickup coil the air gap is .015 and got no spark. preplaced coil with known good one, got no spark. replaced cdi with one from procom engineering, got no spark, looked over entire harness found bent pin coming from stator to harness fixed checked and rechecked connection still no spark. sanded all paint off of coil mount to insure proper ground, got no spark. called local yamaha shop and got walked through every thing in case i missed some thing got frustrated tech on other end of the phone and no spark. tried to get advice from people on here and all i got was read the faqs and test every thing or swap out for know good parts. i replied that i had changed every thing but the cdi at that time and still had nothing. so i changed the cdi and got no more replies. could some one please help me before i pour gas on it and set it on fire to get insurance money. in the morning i am going to check all the grounding points on the bike and make sure they are good as well as go over the harness again ]PLEASE HELP.
  21. been there done that and yes the pick up coil is gapped right. thanks for the thought though. don't have any one to swap parts with every one rides four strokes.
