Or instead of fucking up something that's already fucked up, go buy a new one! If its not working like it should, its for a reason. Don't jerry-rig the shit to fuck up more later, fix the problem right the first time so it doesn't happen again later. ::

What does shaving .060 off head do?
BigRed350x replied to byebyeshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Agreed. You might gain a little bit HP wise, but its impossible for us to GIVE you an exact number as to how much power you MIGHT gain from shaving the head. Personally I would just buy a cool head. LOL -
Start at the stator, check for cracks, insulation coating cracking off wires etc. Check the ground wire on the back of the stator is tight. Maybe even buy a new stator or borrow a friends. Take apart and clean the plugs where the stator goes to the wiring harness. Check the CDI plugs as well, double check connections everywhere. Make sure you have orange and black on the correct terminals on the coil. Check continuity with a volt meter on your ignition and killswitch and make sure one of them isn't stuck on/off. Cut your coil wires back a quarter inch and re-install your caps after cutting back. Test with new plugs.

I've seen some tatum rigs and those things are nice!

If you can't get the sizes you want or don't want to do it, send them to me and I will do it for you. I work in a machine shop and can drill them any size you want.

DUDE, You have had a bunch of input from a couple different people. Can you not read or what? -
I just got some grade 8 nuts and put them on mine with a little blue loctite. Haven't had any of them come off yet.

Got a picture?

Had you actually read my statement you would see that I wasn't trying to argue any of those facts. Yes, I have driven both and I felt the V8 LS1 Twin Turbo rail I drove was heavy and took too much to maneuver. I just prefer the smaller ones. I don't need to prove anything by saying "I have a big hunk of metal and rubber that cost more than your car." That's just not me. I do not doubt that glamis dunes move. You have never been to KP before or you wouldn't make the statement about dunes moving. You have no idea what KP is like. Wyoming is notorious for high winds. I'm talking over 100mph sustained winds for 2 or more days. Killpecker Sand dunes is the ONLY active sand dunes in america. The short sand car in my pictures had 20+" front travel and close to 20" rear. That is plenty of travel for a vehicle of that weight. The big ones have more weight and need more travel to handle the landings. I would follow your big rail anywhere you take me in our short sand car. I can absolutely garuntee you that I can take my short sand car in a LOT of places at KP that your big rail wouldn't have a chance of getting into. Not without serious damage at least. Garuntee it.

Same as getting stuck is 90% driver error, so is you trying to say the smaller ones are more work. Only if you don't know what you are doing. They are smaller, corner faster, and will get in and out of tight spaces easier. (witches eyes, V's, etc) I ride on ACTIVE sand dunes, not like sand mt. or glamis like some of you. Our dunes blow around and move day to day and the sand is REALLY REALLY soft compared to other places. EVERY single big rail I have ever seen at KP is usually stuck. Their huge rear end weight gets them stuck all the time. Even with a little throttle they just spin down into the sand unless they are on totally level ground or pointed downhill. Even revving up and dumping the clutch with some will dig them in. The smaller rails work best where I ride. Just My Opinion. I've ridden in lots of small and big ones and they are all fun. Both have their ups and downs. Just like ANY comparison out there.

I still stand with Short Sand Cars, especially the long travel ones. I saw a couple big ones (4 seat) get stuck REAL easy because they are so damn heavy, and it takes like 6 guys to move one of those fuckers. A short sand car is only 600lbs and seats 2 and is just as fast if not faster than the big guys, with the same travel in some cases. You get a short sand car stuck you get out pick up the front end and spin it around. I've done it. Also about half the price of a big-ass rail. Long Travel Short Sand Car with Turbo Hyabusa engine.

Ha, try and get some of the first generation CPI's to fit correctly! I had to fanagle the hell out of mine to get them to fit how I wanted and they still rub the head, even with spacers & junk in there. I like them though, so I don't really mind. Plus I don't have that big-ass gay logo on the sides of them. I like the blank look way more. If I wanted to advertise for someone I would have covered my shee with stickers.

You can do it without splitting them, just flush it a bunch of times. We've used diesel to flush them before, its thinner than oil and will tend to flow the pieces out better. Just don't get real violent with your drill and you should be ok. I would flush it like 4 or 5 times. Any pieces left after that will be pretty small. Consider the material the cases are made of... not as hard as what the gears are made of so any small pieces left after that point would just get crushed between the gears if they did get up in there. The pices might flow over to the clutch side, and the way the clutch cover is designed, it should catch any garbage that goes over there up front below your primary drive gear on the crank. Personally I would split the cases, but if you want to try, it can be done without splitting. We fixed a guy at the dunes by drilling / tapping / flushing.

anyone know how to resolve cats in your yard
BigRed350x replied to barely legal racing's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I wouldn't kill it, that's fucked up. The CAT doesn't know any better, its doing what is instintual. Do as others have said and call animal control and address the issue with them. They will take care of it / fine your neighbor for being a dumbass. Don't kill the cat. -
Wyoming doesn't give a shit about noise levels. There's no one here to complain!

An easy way to check if the pistons will hit the head is to spray the head with dry graphite and set it in place, bolt down real light, not tight, kick it over by hand once or twice with the plugs out, then remove the head and if the pistons are hitting it will leave a mark in the graphite. If it does hit, take it to a machine shop and have them move the squish band a little farther back. -
Yeah I am thinking about shift forks and the side-cogs on the gears and what might happen to them if you are a half-mm off somewhere or get a cut in the wrong place or something. That would be bad.

Oh yeah... forgot to post what compression was bumped up to after I put these domes in. I'm at 185-187lbs in each cylinder.

In wyoming we have a weasel looking critter called an Ermine. They will whoop the shit out of cats (I've seen one ermine take on two cats and killed both) you can trap them and keep them in your yard if you were around here. lol Get a big-ass dog that doesn't like cats. -
I don't know that I would try a shift drum, but if you do that lets see some pics and a report on function!
