Guess maybe my idea of expensive is a little different than some other people's idea. Sometimes its worth it to be to pay a litlte more and get something already assembled than to try and find/make time out of all my other projects to do it myself. That's just me though.

Exactly. If I had known the pistons were opened up ANY at all I would have tore it down and replaced them when I got them. I've always thought it was a just plain stupid idea to remove material from a piston. They come the way they are for a reason... Plus what do you gain... maybe 1 or 2hp? MAX. Risk what happened to me for 1hp. No thanks! You won't ever feel 1hp anyway, so why bother unless you are racing a dyno?

You don't have to pull your whole engine, just the top end and you can do that real easy IN the frame. Just pull your gas tank and pipes and plastic.

Welded or not? Stock welds or have the welds been gone over by someone, and if so, who? Do you offer TZ bearing installed on the crank? -
Doesn't seem all THAT high to me. Comes with pipes too! That's a huge engine and I imagine it would cost a pretty penny to build yourself. The crank has got to be well up over $1200, cylinders, case work to run the 16mil would be more than the normal case trenching, transmission... I dunno. I wouldn't pay much more than what the auction is at right now. Might be different it it came with a chassis or carbs or other stuff...

Could I get a thread going here that just lists official dates for some of the get-togethers for the HQ. No garbage chit-chat or BS, just keep it to official dates that have been arranged for rides. I've tried reading through some of these threads for HQ rides and there's like 5 dates in a couple of them and no one has ever said an official date. Just list the event and what dates it will be held on and location please. Thanks, - Jared

High school was a pile of shit for me. I found myself bored in high school more than anything from the lack of challenging material. So I would entertain myself with random mischief. Ran across the tarp covering the pool for the school end of year video. suspended. Did a backflip off the back the bleachers out on the football field for the end of the year video.... suspended again. Took my banshee to school and was racing back and forth in front of the lunch area one day during lunch time. School police officer drove around in his car and I ran from him haulin ass around the neighborhood near school. Pulled into my buddies garage and rode back to class with him... Everyone knew I had that banshee and someone ratted me out.... suspended / ticket for eluding a police officer. Some kid pissed me off so I lit his locker on fire with shit from the chemistry labs... suspended again. We had a librarian who would NOT allow drinks of any kind in the library... on a dare I walked in with a 2liter of coke stood right in front of her office and cracked the seal. Lady jumped up and came running after me hollaring, I dropped the coke and took off running down the hall. Never got caught. I think the stain from the coke is still there. Was really into computers and stuff and the whole "hacking" thing was a big craze when I was in high school. I did a lot of crap with the school's network and teachers computers and stuff. Got caught on a few of them and they just made me fix whatever it was I messed up. Skipped class a lot, made lots of explosives in the chemistry labs with this bad-ass chemistry teacher. Me and a few friends would hang out with this crazy bastard during lunch somtimes and we would take stuff out into this field behidn the school and blow stuff up with him. He was a bad-ass dude. Still graduated ranked 23/1000+ students and had a 3.85 GPA, graduated as an AP scholar and got a bunch of scholarships to college. Calmed down a lot in college once I finially had courses that were somewhat challenging and kept me busy with homework.

Winter time isn't the best time for KP. Our dunes do get snow and they get really nasty in the winter time because of the wind and drifts. I would recomend any time between april and september for the best riding. July is the absolute best though, if you like heat. We run around in shorts and T-Shirts all through july. June it will rain almost every afternoon, but if you want to hang out by the pond or do some swimming out on the dunes, june is hte time to come. Let me know when you plan on comming and I will meet you and show you around. KP isn't really like many other dunes, we have vegitation, rocks, ponds, etc scattered throughout the dunes.

Its not really that hard, just practice and having the tools to do it. I'm just glad it was a simple fix and nothing too horrible happened. I'm going to change some stuff and try again after I get the parts I need to get back up and running. Should be fun! See how many top ends I can blow through before I figure out how to tune this thing on methanol. LOL! If things go too bad next time I will just get a cub. See if I can't trash some nicasil. :yelrotflmao:

It just didn't fee like a lean sputter to me. Just seat of the pants it felt like it was really rich. Does methanol feel different when its rich compared to race gas? Had a lot of people tell me I was going to be more than rich enough with what I had in there right now. LOL Guess no one was intending that I was going to go out and ride it in 15

That's what's werid... it would bog real bad down low then got up on top and kept pulling and pulling... then when if felt like it was up above the pipe and the power was dropping off it would sputter. Probably lean like you said, but didn't feel lean. Maybe I'm just not used to methanol. I didn't know the windows were ported. If I knew that I would have pulled those pistons and replaced them with new ones. Never liked having ported windows, makes the skirts weak and the tend to break just like that one did. LOL Needle Jet Tube was at .118. I'm going to drill it out to .125 tomarrow at work. Maybe .120 Dunno yet. Have to look at it more and make a decision. I guess riding it in the temps I was in probably wasn't the best of ideas, but I couldn't have that thing sitting in the garage any more! Ha Ha! I'm not at all upset about it, I have to expect stuff like this with a new bike and a new fuel to me. Just replace parts and try again! Ha Ha! Suppose I better get both pistons then and just keep that good one for a spare. I bet if it had been warmer it probably would have been better to be playing with jetting. But I ride in this kinda stuff so I have to get used to jetting in it. Mike, what do you suggest for getting rid of the bog and still staying fat on top? Drop the pilot a size? Lean out the needle a clip? I'm thinking I will go up a size on the main, leave the needle where it is, maybe drop the pilots a size and start with the powerjets all the way out again. Oh yeah, I also need to get different needles from you too! - Jared

Yeah, that last run in the video... when I turned around and was headed back to the truck is when it let loose. Not that big of a deal really. Simple fix, just put me out of commission on this bike for a couple days until I can get parts. Guess I will just try it again and see what happens. Might throw my .125 main in and richen up the needle a clip or two and see what happens. LOL - Jared

Yeah... $25 for the o-ring kit for the head (which I don't reallyneed, but would like to have anyway) Figure $75-80 for the piston and junk. Ended up being around a $100 Ooops! I am really glad that I can do most of my own work on my stuff for sure. Working in a machine shop where I have access to the stuff I need is priceless. That dome would have sucked balls, as well as getting the cylinder honed if I didn't work here.
