I don't really use very much stock stuff. Thanks though.

Anyone interested in the top end off my 06 banshee. Got it brand new off the show-room floor. Did the heat cycles and rode it once the day I bought it. Haven't ridden it since. Been sitting in my garage. It seriously only has maybe 5-10 hours on it. Both cylinders, pistons and stock head. Make me some offers. - Jared

Find the biggest grinder you can and go to town on it. Personally I just use a wire-wheel on a drill and a razorblade. If you do use a power tool of some kind don't stay in one spot very long and make sure you use a soft material so it doesn't "grind" away anything off your head or cylinders.

I'd look at some different porting options myself. I know there are big companies out there who can get more out of your setup with different porting. How does your clutch hold up? Maybe some straight-cut gears to get a few extra HP to the ground? I'd probably look at suspension as stated above. Some +2+1 arms and some good shocks to start it off. That should put you back in the hole with money pretty fast if you get a good set of shocks. After that go for a swinger to match what type of riding you do and a good rear shock there as well. Maybe some frame mods to lighten/strengthen your frame for what kinda riding you do. Maybe try some other types of pipes and see if one can get you a little more power somewhere else in the powerband. If you do any kind of wide open trails or dunes or anything where you really open it up, you might consider a twister billet mini or some cubs or a cheetah or something besides stock cylinders.

Well if I can get my ducks in a row here in the next month or so I will let you california boys know and maybe I can make a road trip and spend some days out there with all the crazy bastards. Ha Ha!

Ha Ha! So maybe like 4 of us going to meet up? LOL! If everything goes as planned I am going to have a big multi-seat toy by this summer. Have to see how the buildups on the other toys goes. I have two things I have to pay off, and if I get them paid off soon enough I am going to be getting a sand rail of some sorts. Probably a 2-seat dude. Haven't decided if I want a big car or a short sand car type thing yet. I'm leaning more towards the short sand cars right now, just because of where I ride. Possible list... theshee + wife your bro + wife me rick combat talon mollett89 I imagine I could get some of my buddies from down in the loveland/denver/ft collins area to come up too, so there would be another 5 or 6 peeps.

So is winter time about the only time its cool enough to hit up the dunes down there in southern california? Winter time our dunes are covered in snow! Ha Ha! I know I talk a lot of shit about the people and crazy bastards all over your guys' dunes, but I've talked to some people down there who tell me you can get out away from all that stuff. Thinking about maybe planning a trip down there this winter to check it out in person and see for myself. When's a good time?

Your drum may be getting worn in that one spot and the shift fork that holds #2 gear isn't staying in its place. Could also be something out of adjustment down by your shift star. Maybe its not totally locking into gear down there. Maybe its both! The way the drum and shift star and the load spring that rides on the shift star are designed it makes everything lock into each gear, and it takes quite a bit to get it to come out of gear on its own, so I'm guessing something in your transmission somewhere is worn out, getting worn out, or broke. Also check the rods that your forks ride on and make sure they aren't getting some worn down spots on them. Maybe something's binding up down there and not letting the cogs on the sides of the gears lock into eachother real good. Start with the simple stuff and pull your clutch cover, remove the clutch and inspect the shift star and shifter mechanism down there and make sure everything down there is in good shape and not worn down in any way. If all that stuff looks good, you might have to split your cases again. Just take your time and inspect everything thoroughly and make sure you aren't over-looking something. I'd repace the rods that the shift forks ride on since they aren't that expensive anyway, and maybe look at some new forks if your shee has any kind of serious age and hours on it. The way I look at it is this... if I'm going to be going to the time and effort to split my cases I'm going to replace all the cheaper stuff in there that isn't a hassle to do. I also replace bearings and any other parts (like forks) that I know tend to wear out over time. I put a lot of work into my transmissions and like to know that I have new OEM or high quality aftermarket parts in there. Ha Ha! If nothing else, you could just step up to a dunable override and be done. Ha Ha! - Jared

Good lord, why don't you post this like 8 times? Maybe then we will see it...

You probably won't notice any bit of difference in performance anywhere. Maybe a slight change in throttle response in one way or another, but even then, it will be limited. Pretty much the only reason to run reed spacers is if you need to get your carbs up off of your clutch arm. If you don't need them for that, you are just adding another sealing surface to your intake that could cause a leak at some point. - Jared

I would have returned then and requested another set. If you have to use outside hardware and be bending stuff around that's supposed to be "bolt-on" then either their stuff is jacked or your frame is tweaked. Maybe they got bent in shipping? - Jared
-
I've tried the tape method and it didn't do jack shit for me. The outside nut would just walk out anyway and take the tape with it and make it a huge retarded mess to clean up. Spend the money and get a locking nut and do it right.

take a looks at my pistones

Oh my god those are totally horrible! Dispose of them immediately. You might be a little rich on that right cylinder where there isn't much carbon. Not a big deal though, its good to be a little rich. I'd leave everything alone and just put your new head on and get back to tearing stuff up. EDIT: ...and like ^ said, clean your carbs real good while you have it tore apart. -
They sure are, all you have to do is... buy the cubs, sell the cubs, buy stock cylinders back, send stockers out to get a bottom-end port job, and take your magic marker and write "cub" on the sides of your stockers.
-
I know how that goes... Every time I start to get ahead and save some decent money up I go buy another toy and start modding it all out. Its retarded.

I'd be down for that. Was it you who was telling me that you know how to get to places around glamis where there aren't a million people? I would love to ride glamis dunes without all the nutso's down there. LOL! Any time during the summer is good for KP, I ride there every chance I get during the summer. I even go out for night rides sometimes and just sleep out on the sand. It gets up and stays around mid 70's at night, so its pretty comfy to just ride and crash out on the sand sometimes and enjoy the stars.
-
Just take it to a dealer and have them do it, or a machine shop tha can handle the odd shape of the cylinder. I wouldn't try and do it at home with a "tool" Stock bore is 64mm.
-
I always laugh at these guys posting up there big numbers on the dyno down there at sea level. I'd like to see some of those bikes run up at walden and see how they like it. LOL Look forward to seeing you this summer man!

I do mine with a chisel and hammer.
-
That's not too bad then! If you don't have a camper or something you are more than welcome to crash at my place in rock springs, we have plenty of room for guests, and you could have a nice shower after a day at the dunes. I think that's the best part of being able to come back home every day after I ride.
-
Where in wyoming do you live?
-
Yeah, I pretty much have no desire to go to any other dunes after riding KP. St. A's is the only other place I go, and I would like to try the oregon dunes, but other than that, none of those other dunes really seem to compare in my mind. Too many people and too many regulations.
-
Ha Ha, read my sig. That's what you need. Plus bigger carbs.
-
Bump! No one ever wants to come to wyoming for dunes! WTF? :yelrotflmao:
-
I'm sure you and I will be riding together a LOT once it warms up. Besides, I've already got you beat, I've got a set of cub cylinders ordered for the 06 banshee. Ha Ha! I will let you have those pipes if you want them, PM me. - Jared
