  1. It was difficult enough to read with all the spelling mistakes, etc. ... Some pretty wacko claims there! "100 years". Rare.
  2. Test your grounds/ earths and switches with the ohm meter. If nothing shows bad there, then it must be in your harness/ connectors unless one of the "supposed to be working" items is actually faulty. Rare.
  3. Did you fit idle screws in the carbs? Here's the info. you need. .... BenBB's faq. http://www.bansheehq.com/index.php?option=...id=35&Itemid=25 Rare.
  4. Wow, what a monster! ... Wouldn't want to come face to face with that on a swim. You should put some of them in your lake. Rare.
  5. Yeah, Congratulations! Good Luck. Rare.
  6. Your Banshee has agoraphobia. Check all your wiring connectors and 'grounds'. I'm sure it's something simple if it ran fine a couple of weeks ago. Edit: Sorry, I see you only had spark. Is your timing plate set correctly? Rare.
  7. The 280's are your main jets. .... They sound about right (perhaps on the rich side, but what's your temp. and elevation. ... Africa's a big country No harm in running a plug chop with the airbox lid on, checking that you're not lean, and then running another plug chop with the lid removed. Don't know anything about the dura blue filter so I can't comment there. Also I'm in Scotland, so our pipes are in
  8. Certainly was. While on the subject ... my bike (according to the previous/ 2nd owner) is a 2001. I've not had reason to doubt this as the frame number has 2000 as the last 4 digits. I just assumed it was a frame that had been manufactured the previous year. But your explanation of the 10th character makes me wonder, as the '2' of '2000' is the 10th and that makes it a 2002. ... . ... Can't see him making out that it was older than it is? Im in the UK, if that makes a difference. 3GG-###### 2000. Rare.
  9. Sounds like you know your bike well. ... A couple of points: 1/ The DynaFS requires resistor ('R') type spark plugs "ONLY". 2/ Why a #7 NGK? ... With your mods, you should be closer to a 9 than the standard 8. (Not that this is your problem here). ... You've went colder. What elevation and temp.? Rare.
  10. Polish, If you had read the posts you would have seen that this was caused by a combination of things that did not include an air leak. ... Has my head been milled? see post #9. And no, I don't think that one of the top two 2-stroke builders in the UK "prob done wrong". Anyway, in post #11, I mentioned that the (squish) bands had been re-cut. So, if anything, there would have been more clearance there. ... You wouldn't have known this, but this head had been milled for the bike 18 months before I acquired it at the end of last year. That's just bollocks! ... And you've jumped in again, Polish, with your epoxy comment. If I wasn't accross the pond in Scotland I'd show you guys where to stick your JB weld and epoxy. Post #9: "Premix: Silkolene Pro2 @ 33:1." ... "- I normally run 97 Octane, but for the first time ever I used 95. (All I could get)." ... Read the threads. ************************** Please, guys. ... If you're going to answer in one of my posts, then read the threads first. And if you think you can add a sensible comment then go ahead. But I hate to waste my time replying to comments that are just plain stupid. ... There's been some very knowledgeable heads involved in this posting of which some have turned to pm'ing instead of posting. And because of this, a vast majority of BHQ lose out on valuable, or at least useful/ interesting information. If you can't say anything constructive, then don't bother. Said my piece, Rare.
  11. Why is that? Great pics. I've seen your pic with the stock piston in the background before, but not the two Banshee Wisecos together. Rare.
  12. At last! ... We'll miss you in the repairs forum. You're right, it is most likely a broken ring. But in your first post you said ... "the kickstarter feels harder to push". Either you were just imagining it, or it's more than 'just' a broken ring. ... The loss of compression would have made it easier to turn the engine over on the kickstart. Rare.
  13. Have a look in there! ... How do you imagine you'ye going to get the pistons off the connecting rods without removing the cylinders? Within 10 mins of your 1st post, it was suggested that you do a compression check. ... And again, so many times in the following threads. You need a Clymer Manual! Rare.
  14. "before i put the cylinders on to pour oil thru, just in case anything fell in." What does that mean??? How much oil did you pour in? Rare.
  15. Yeah, I'd like to know too. ... And yes, I think it is 'hare scramble'. Rare.
  16. Great advice there, thanks Brad. ... Like I said earlier it was a combination of errors which I made that look so obvious when written down the way you have done so. I've spent hours trying to learn plug reading and choping, "My window into the engine's health", but still can't get it right. ... I'm disheartened, but now feel sure I understand where I'm going wrong. Rare.
  17. Most of us do all our own work. ... I think. Depending what you're rebuilding ... from zero to thousands. Rare.
  18. The way I see it, you had it explained to you well. I personally like the idea of a heat cycle on a rebuild to seat rings and check the torque on the head and base nuts. ... I actually do 3. Rare.
  19. Welcome to the BHQ. .... Great introduction! Unfortunately, you've fallen into a 'hot topic' that keeps rearing it's head. ... I haven't really been following it, but you can use the 'search' button. There's also info above that's been "pinned". First I've heard about a Mark 2 Banshee. ... Can't see it happening myself. I could really go an '06 right now. Long live the Banshee! Rare.
  20. Styrofoam?? What's all that about then? It'll only take 5 mins to take the clutch apart, but maybe someone else knows how to tell without stripping it. Rare.
