"between the reeds" ... If you mean between the reed petals and the reed cage, then NO. Rare.

Advancing timing?
Rare Scottish Tree Badger replied to biggun6ss's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
You can alter the 3 locating holes of your timing plate to alter the timing (1mm per 1 degree), but a NEW adjustable plate from Ricky Stator is only $35. Rare. -

Is it a new clutch? ... I remember reading that it's not a good idea to change the fluid if the clutch has been used with a previous fluid. ... Better to wait 'till it's fresh fibres. Bel-Ray gear saver (80w) is a popular one. If they're new fibres, then (also from what I've read) Type 'F' automatic tranny fluid (ATF type 'F') is good, and also cheap which means you can change it more frequently. I use Putoline light gear oil (75w), but that's European so there'll not be many comments about this stuff. ... For me, it's fine. (Damned expensive tho'!) Do a search, there's loads of info. Here's one of many .... "tranny oil" http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...7&hl=tranny+oil Rare.

2 - Stroke with a 3' 2" bore!
Rare Scottish Tree Badger posted a topic in General Banshee Discussion
Ok, it's a diesel .... But! You wouldn't get one of these in your 'Shee, but you'd certainly get your 'Shee in one of it's cylinders with an EIGHT FOOT, TWO INCH stroke! Might need to take the wheels off with the THREE FOOT, TWO bore. 1.82 million cc per cylinder. ..... http://performanceunlimited.com/illustrati...ful-engine.html Rare. -
At 10 degrees C you should be using the choke on the first notch, and at 25 degrees C you should be on the verge of not needing to pull the choke at all. I think you're rich on your pilot circuit. ... How many turns are you out from seated on the air screws? As I said above, you should be in the range of 1 1/2 to 2 turns out. You should need to use the choke (on the first notch) at ambient temps of under about 25 C. ... I know I'm rich on that circuit 'cos I can start the bike at 20 C without the choke. ... Below that temp, using the choke, within 5 seconds or so of being fired up I can put the choke off and it'll idle fine. I don't know anything about your oil. Rare.

Piston dome cc?
Rare Scottish Tree Badger replied to Rare Scottish Tree Badger's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Thanks Ron, ... I did some maths aswell and got the same figure as you! (6.46749 cc). You must have used 4mm for the dome height too. Thanks for confirming it. JKJK, They were good ideas but with such a small volume, method 1 did nothing (no carpet stains - too much surface tension). If I hadn't found out how to do the maths, I might have tried the puddy (we call it putty/plasticine) or even just done it the right way. ... Placing the cylinder in the bore a known distance from the deck, sealing the piston/bore clearance with grease and then CCing the volume to deck height with the kerosene and then taking the volume recorded away from the volume above the known distance volume without the piston being there. (As if it was a flat top piston). Anyway, thanks guys. ... Job done. Rare. -
Piston dome cc?
Rare Scottish Tree Badger replied to Rare Scottish Tree Badger's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Ok, so I won't worry about the +1mm over. But I still want to know what the dome's displacement is. ... I don't think I'm far away with 8cc. Rare. -
my compression and piston
Rare Scottish Tree Badger replied to bansheefreestyler's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
That's what your 'mechanic' will be able to decide. ... Is the damage in the roof of the exhaust port or the floor? If it's in the roof, then the porting that you say you are going to get done will raise the exhaust higher by a couple of mm (going by your style of riding) and take away the damage if it's only slight. ... Someone that knows what they're doing needs to physically look at your barrells, there's no other way. Rare. -
What's a rough estimate of a piston's dome cc? About 4cc It's a 1mm over prolite if anyones's got the exact amount. ... Playing with corrected and uncorrected CR and mapping ports and timing. I could work it out, but I've spilt enough kerosene on my livingroom carpet as it is! If I can't ride it, I might as well know what I've got when it is going. EDIT: It must be closer to 8cc. Rare.

Have your air temperatures risen significantly? ... This could make you run rich on the main jets (and possibly the jet needles) due to less oxygen in the air. Higher altitudes and higher humidity will also reduce the oxygen content. Rare.

I bellieve that's the max. overbore, yes. But you don't want to go any further than it needs, and that's what the builder/ machinist will be able to work out from his experience and measuring eqipment. Rare. -
Intermitant spark on left only
Rare Scottish Tree Badger replied to Handyman's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
HT = High Tension, the proper name for the leads that come out of the coil and have the spark plug boots fitted on the ends of them. A weak plug cap (they have built-in resistance) or lead is more likely to show up problems when under load, than when not under load. Rare. -
What's being from another country got to do with it? The USA's not the only country to have freedom of speech. He comes accross as being polite, overly polite to the point of being annoying. ... It's just the questions are so stupid and that signature is a PITA! Rare.

Intermitant spark on left only
Rare Scottish Tree Badger replied to Handyman's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Try swapping over the HT leads to see if the problem swaps cylinders. ... If it does, then there's a problem with the HT lead or plug cap. If the problem still stays on the same cylinder, then it could be a fouled or faulty spark plug. Rare. -
my compression and piston
Rare Scottish Tree Badger replied to bansheefreestyler's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
If it was in the right way, then the arrow on the top of the piston would be pointing towards the exhaust. The end gaps of the rings are both on the intake side, but the pins to stop them moving are about 1 1/4 inches apart. (On a Wiseco Prolite). ... Does it look like the wear of the piston/rings/bore has allowed the ring to slip over the pin and spin around the piston? The .50mm on the top means the pistons are 1/2 mm oversize (0.020"). Rare. -
my compression and piston
Rare Scottish Tree Badger replied to bansheefreestyler's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Some better pics would help! If you mean 'end gaps' when you say "where the ring seperates ...", then your piston was in the cylinder facing the wrong way and you possibly caught a ring on the exhaust port. ... The end gaps should be on the intake side of the cylinder. With 75 psi on the other cylinder, I'm surprised the bike ran. ... You were certainly overdue a topend rebuild. Rare. -

blown piston? help me!
Rare Scottish Tree Badger replied to Bansheeboyz2000's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
You mean where do you check the compression, or where do you take it to get it checked? 2nd one's easy. ... A dealer or garage. Where/ how to check compression: 1/ Buy or borrow a decent quality compression tester. 2/ Remove your spark plugs. 3/ Thread the screw in adaptor that matches your spark plug threads, (in diameter and length), into one of the plug holes. 4/ Have the bike switched off, or kill switch set at no run. ... Saves damaging cdi. 5/ Switch the fuel off. 6/ Hold the throttle fully open. (Allows air into the cylinder). 7/ Kick the bike over FAST until the reading on the guage stops increasing. 8/ Release the pressure (guage goes back to zero) and do the same for the other side. Job done. ... Perform the above test with the motor COLD. Rare. -
