  1. I should be sleeping cuz I am going riding in the morning but I just came in from the garage. Teh shee is on the trailer now, with two YFZ450's. I can't wait to put them both in their rightful places behind the shee. I love my bike Just thinking about opening her up tommorow makes it hard to fall asleep. RJV
  2. I have been impressed since I switched over. Seem to be good stuff. RJV
  3. That was my point exactly. Look at it from his side given that info, someone calls in and complains. He happens to be in the area and sees you. If he does not stop you and the caller sees that, he gets beefed at work by concerned citizen. If he stops you and lets you go and you get hurt, he gets screwed even worse. I still think he could have given you the option of getting it home yourself but at least he met you guys half way. RJV
  4. Depends on rider skill and where the race takes place. Assuming All Riders are equal- MX Track: Honda Woods: Honda Dunes: Banshee/Quadzilla Flat Track: Quadzilla Pavement Drag Race: Quadzilla That does not take into account a thousand other factors though that could make one bike better than the other on any given day... 5. That is the problem with some police today, they do not use common sense. they don't look at the overall situation. they act like robots, black and white and without looking at the human aspect. Common sense says you guys were not hurting anything and were not being reckless, in fact you were safer than any other person in a car most likely. On the flip side though, If he let you go after stopping you and one of you ended up killing yourself, the Office would have been open for a lawsuit though. He has to do something. He could have given you the option to get a friend or relative to come with a trailer. That would have been the human thing to do. But instead, he worked you both over and then lectured you both. He is why police have a bad name. RJV
  6. Holyman, got my kickstarter back today. Thanks, it looks great and no more rattle. It is better than I thought it would be. Hopefully I can put something useful on here for you sometime. In the meantime, I will send people to your e-bay add for the mod. It is well worth the money. Thanks again. RJV
  7. I really like the bend. On the KX I am running CR High bend. I did not cut any off of the ends and they fit perfect for my riding style. They also seem to numb vibration some. I have run tons of different bars and I like these the best....for now anyway. The price is hard to beat and they seem to be quality. Transworld Motocross gave them 5 out of 5 stars for comfort, durability, price, style etc. To dethrone renthal that has got to say something. For the Banshee I am going with the mid-bend. Dirtwheels said the high-bend was too much. And we know dirtwheels is always right. If you already have a two inch riser, I would definaltely go with the low bend. I would not be afraid to try them, for 60 bucks I don't think you could go wrong. RJV
  8. The YFZ is a MX machine. MX Suspension MX Gearing. MX Ergonomics It is low to the ground It corners like it is on rails It feels light in the air It is insanely fast with a few mods On the Dunes: Dune Whoops are childs play Dune Jumps are fun Tree Shots are a kick Hill Drag Races are Fun (and it competes) Carving the dunes is just a good time with this bike In the woods: Blazing Fast! On the track: Just read any magazine article about the bike. I have ridden it on the track. The magazines are right. It is magical. Negatives: Feels small and cramped to me (6') Tall gears for sand (easy fix) Noise, gotta be careful with after market pipe selection Compared to a Banshee, there is a lot of engine noise. EXPENSIVE RJV
  9. The best I can come up with that is free would be anywho.com. If the number is listed you can use a reverse lookup and you will find it. If they are not listed it is a pain and you may never know. Contact the phone company, they may tell you if it was a business number vs. a private number. Try information, give them the number and see if they can tell you anything. These are both long shots but you never know. RJV
  10. Let me clarify, I don't believe for a second they will get ten years. They should. I hate theives. Bastards sneek around stealing stuff the rest of us work hard for and then usually sell it for pennies on the dollar. Pisses me off, talk about no respect, talk about cowards, if you wake up and confront them they run off. PISSES ME OFF!!! RJV
  11. here's one for the POLICE I heard bikes were getting stolen and chopped from these areas on a pretty regular basis. A friend of mine and his family went camping at Spinreel last week. Parked his bikes in between his truck and trailer when he went to bed. At about 3am someone stole three of the bikes loading them onto a flat bed. Those people then drove out of the camp. The camp host saw them leaving and called the police. Long story short, the police caught the people with three other bikes on the truck coming out of Horsefall Campground, recovered all the bikes and busted the Thieving Bastards in the act. Now if the courts do their job those guys should go away for a while. I think they should be gone for 10 year or more especially if they can link them to other thefts. RJV
  12. I read in Dirtwheels a while back 'bout a company that was putting the CR250R motor in 400EX frames. DW is suppossed to be doing a test on the bike in the near futre. As to putting a motor in the 250X frame, if you got the motor and you got a 250X sitting around I say go for it and let us know how it goes RJV
  13. Also, Pro-Taper makes a universal kit for 40.00 bucks that allows you to use the fat bars with most of your stock equipment.
  14. I f i was you, before you drop the big money on th pro-taper fat bar, take a look at the new pro-taper 7/8th bar. They have 3 bends, ATV low, mid and hi. I am running them on my MX bike and they are great. Good feel, tough as nails. Trans World Motocross gave them 5 out of 5 stars and you can pick a set up from Rocky Mountain for under 60.00 bucks. I am getting the ATV Mid bend for my shee next payday. Just my two cents.... RJV
  15. Hey Dude, don't know how I missed this thread earlier....though I don't really have anything else to say other than what has already been said. Sorry. Things happen for a reason, sometimes God has to slap you up side the head to get your attention . Keep your chin up it will work out. Hope the interview works out for you. RJV
  16. Someone here on the BHQ just sold a Honda 250X 1300 or something like that. It has a clutch but is a great bike. Good suspension and overall ergonomics. IMO spend a half a day working with her on the clutch. An older 250X will give her a lot more growing room than a 250EX and will cost you less money. RJV
  17. I have ridden blaters on MX tracks and in stock condition if you are not paying attention that bike will pile drive you every freaking time. You can compensate for it of course with body positioning and preload etc but wow, that had to hurt. Whoever mentioned the tires, yeah those baloons on the rear are not helping his cause....
  18. Do a search for timing, advanced timing, timing plates etc. You will find the info yo are looking for. RJV
  19. If you have got the time and it isn't to much trouble, sure paint it and the safety chain is a nice touch. Thanks again. RJV
  20. Thanks guys. I was on the right track just needed some clarification on it. Really, I am happy with the bike and the way it performs with the relatively modest mods I have done to it. "Personally I don't see the need for porting for my riding {trails}. I have been happy with pipes, reeds, carbs... basically bolt on mods. If I do need a new cylinder, I don't have to pay to have a new port job done on the new one". I think Holyman is the only person I have seen on this topic that could take it or leave it. The gains sound very tempting but the potential for reliability problems concerns me a little. Redline Racing would be doing the work for me if I decide to go this route. I am not concerned with his workmanship as i have only heard good about his bikes. Thanks for the input, other opinions or thoughts from guys who have Port work done are still appreciated. Later- RJV PS: Holyman, did my kicker get to you?
  21. Hey guys. I have done a search and found a ton of stuff on Porting and how great it is. I have found that there are several different style of "port jobs" ie dune port, drag port, woods port etc. The titles I assume are an idication as to what they are "best suited for". Can someone explain what exactly a "Dune Port" is. What is the basic process, what type of power can I expect, what about reliability and does porting automatically bump you into race gas land? I posted a while back about getting ready for the next step. I am going to lighten the flywheel and advance the timing +4. With those mods plus what I have in my sig it sounds like I will get a nice little boost. How much more will I get with a Dune Port? I am not asking if it is worth it because I have read enough on here to know it is, I just want to understand what it is and what it does a little better. Thanks again, you guys all ROCK!! RJV
  22. Those are great bikes, especially for woods/trial riding and the way you have it set up it would be a kick in the pants to ride. Good luck selling it. I think the price is fine. My dad still has a blue and white one that he bought new (Im not sure what year, I know gray was first, then white, the blue) and it runs like a freakin champ. My wife learned to quad on it, my brothers wife learned to quad on it, my other brothers fiance learned to quad on it and the three of us ran the living crap out of it while we were growing up. It is a great bike. Good luck selling it. RJV
  23. Sounds good, I will check into shipping, UPS, and get back in touch with you to let you know when. Thanks guys for the suggestions. RJV
  24. The plan was to simply replace the spring and bearing in the kickstart lever so it did not rattle. Of course nothing is ever easy for me so I went to take the screw out, the phillips at the base of the lever, it is so freaking tight I could not turn it. Long story short, I stripped the hell out of the head of the screw. Any tips on getting it out now? Thanks for any input. RJV PS: Anyone have a stock lever laying around they want to sell?
  25. Dude, first, all caps is the equivelent to YELLING! so relax and turn off the caps lock. Second, there is a ton of info here and more knowledge about Banshee Performance than any place on the web. Third, the people that post on a regular basis, the ones you want to help you, watch out for eachother. So don't piss them off. RJV
