  1. If anyone gets info as to when the meetings are held in florence concerning the dunes, please post them here and or send me an e-mail directly. If I have the info, I will goa nd ai will get as many people as possible to go with me. It is unreal that tehy are going to close down the sand camping. Even with the sand camping it is over crowded in the camp grounds. Basically they are killing any camping trips for those who cant make plans a year in advance. (Besides, with the campgrounds so crammed packed, I don't want to be there anyway). Florence needs to realize they have nothing to offer and the dunes are the bread and butter for there economy. If I am going to the coast without my bikes, I am going to Newport and or Lincoln City. Then to Depot Bay, Coos Bay and even Yachats. If Florence keeps alienating the riders who bring them and the businesses money year round, they will eventually dry up. (Of course now they are getting a casino which I guarntee will not help our cause). We need to be vocal....and professional about our concerns. It burns me when we pay for our bikes, pay for our licence, pay for our parking permits and pay to camp on and on and the city keeps slapping us in the face. Randy Voight, Albany Oregon. 2. Interesting, what type of material is Olds made up of anyway? I ride the Oregon Dunes and whoops change with the season as does the steepness of the hills and overall consistancy of the sand. This time of the year the whoops are deep and staggered out. In August they will be a more shallow and closer together. Other times they are just smooth "rollers" that have little effect on a race. It constantly changes with the wind and overall weather. It surprises me to here Olds is always whooped out. Later- RJV Oregon
