  1. How does it run? Does it have any bogs or hesitations? If so, where at in the power band does it occur?
  2. Toomey actually recomends the stock pilots, I know they run better with a 27.5 though. You have it figured out I think, sounds like you just want someone to agree with you. Well I agree, It is obvious when you pul the choke in it idles right down from high speed (lean). I would pick up a few more mains like a 300-320. You are probably OK for now but when you want to ride it when the temps. drop again you might want to richen it up. I wouldn't go more than a 27.5 pilot, unless you have more mods to account for the extra fuel, I have found 30's to be a bit much for most people.
  3. Well maybe next time. You definately saw some of our marks on hills yesterday. We made some new ones in the back by the campground. One guy on a new 450 said he could make it no problem! Well, he had a problem........he got about 8-10ft. from the top and let's just say he found reverse and found out not to hit the back brakes as you are going backwards down a very steep hill. His quad had to be totalled! Even the head pipe came off! Someday these guys will learn that the only way to climb hills with a banshee, is on a banshee! S ee ya!
  4. Well, where was everyone? I was there from 10am till 3pm. Had a great time climbing hills/making some new ones. Even found a tricky jump. only have about a 7ft. run to clear a 15-17ft. gap. You had to clear it or you would land on a fallen tree about 4ft. in diam! What a blast! I love technical stuff like that. It is not how far , high, or how steep, or how big the jump or hill, it's how technical it is. Hope to see some of you there this summer. Matt, where were you? I thought I could count on you there. I was a t the bottom by the shelter house in the center.
  5. You only have to bore it if the walls are scored, scratched. Just honing it out is usually all that is required. Boring the cylinders is usually about $30-45 a piece.
  6. You will eat him alive, I raced one that had pipes, and cams and still smoked him, not eveen close!
  7. I'm with you ducman, this guy is going to need our help or we will get a hundred questions in the next few days from him. Lian, tell us exactly what has been done to your banshee, filter type, airbox mods, lid on or off of airbox, engine work if any, and what temps and elevation are normal for your area. If you can give us some info we can help you get that thing jetted so you can throw some dirt and not hurt it! We all have to start somewhere, no one was born knowing how to jet a engine!
  8. NO! What size are they? It should be stamped at the top or the side of the jet. Don't ride with those pipes till you jet it!
  9. While we are talking about bad days at work, I had one monday, which was my Bday! I do heat treating at an aluminum plant, the water tank is about 15Wx115'deep and the furnace is directly above that at the same dimensions. Anyway, I was dropping a load (metal out of furnace into water) and the frickin cables snapped! It comes out about 60 feet per sec. and stops as soon as the metal is submerged completely, well this time it didn't! So they had to bring divers in to rehook it after the cables were fixed. Oh, this happened on 6 helicopter blades that are about $18-20,000 a piece! I am fairly new at this particular job so everyone thought I f@$#ed it up. Thank god it was an equipment failure. Not near as dramatic as staples to the head!
  10. Exacly MEAT! That is where I like to be, on the tip of the power band, a little clutch or throttle and BAM! your gone!
  11. You should only ride a 4-stroke if there isn't a 2-stroke to ride!
  12. I would send it to Eric Gorr, he is near the Chicago area now and does a fantastic job! Check out his sight EricGorr.com Very reasonable on prices. Also Eddie Sanders Racing does a ton of 250R's.
  13. He is full of $hit! It just removes the electrical and junk on the carbs, as far as helping syncronize, you have to do that. It does make it easier to get the carbs off and to adjust though.
  14. Hey matt, I'll be there this weekend too with my buddy on the CRF450, maybe a few more. Try to find me at the bottom. I'll be there by 10:00am. Hope to ride with ya some! You can tell me all about roostfest!
  15. No one mentioned the clutch! That is the most used part of a 2-stroke to get the most out of it. You need to slip the clutch alot when starting a race, going thruogh technical sections wether it be a drag race, motocross, or woods riding. It keeps you on the "pipe" and keeps wheelspin to a minimum. I always have a finger on the clutch and "feather" it to keep it on the pipe almost at all times. Maintenance is the key to making them last, Changing tranny oil every 15-20 hrs, keeping the airfilter clean and oiled, checking all the bolts every now and then, and also float level, this does get off with time so check it regularly. And most of all, keep kicking the 4-strokes a$$!
  16. Redline oils!
  17. Redline 2-stroke racing oil!!!!!!!!
  18. As long as everything else is stock and you are keeping the airbox and lid, I would start at a 280-290 main, needle in the middle, and 1-2 turns out with the stock pilot. After you get it running do a plug check, you might have to adjust a little to get perfect but this is a safe start. Check the jetting faq if you need to know how to do a plug check/chop.
  19. If you are running 280's with no airbox, you better order some new pistons because you will need them SOON! You need to be at least 320's with no airbox, and 300 with airbox and no lid. Check your plugs, they are probably white as snow.
  20. I'll be there this weekend also (21st) with a few friends, not sure if I'm riding dirtbike or quad but will be there. Hope to see some of you there this summer. I'm there quite a bit.
  21. Your pilot is a little big for T-6's, try a 27.5 with screw about 1.5 turns out and see how that does.
  22. Sounds like you have a reed going bad, check that before you change the jetting.
  23. Sounds like a jetting problem, what are your mods and jetting right now?
  24. I might be there. I live about 20mi. away so let me know for sure when it gets closer. Mrmatt also lives close by. I can get at least 3-5 others if you want to meet up.
  25. I hope to race the Sparta, Millfield, St.Clairesville, and of course the Ironman this year. Anyone else racing a few GNCC's?
