Reed spacers, any point to having them?
camatv replied to dgk30's topic in General Banshee Discussion
no reason for spacers unless its a girls bike and you want the pipe hit more mild. even then timing does more to control power than the tarded spacers -
honda pattern is like 4x110 yamaha is 4x115. does it have a honda rear axle? if your not sure post a picture of the BACK of the bike. 10" wheels kinda suck. if it was me i would look into a 9" wheel in maybe a kenda klaw or the trail one with lots of distance between the lugs. plus your never really going to have arm ripping sand paddle like traction on hard pack clay... i dont know whats the BBD right meow but thats the tire i liked. also the OEM kfx450 tires worked well also.

wow. it amazes me to see other uses transfer'd for other things. ( metal polishing for another trade applied to this trade. nice) thanks for taking the time to make this post i order'd the master formula off ebay was 40.00 for the 2 bottles. i WILL NOT use anything else anymore. it is amazing stuff. if you want polished alluminum with almost no real maintenance the master is for you. when i did the wife's bike i bought it later if i ever do a fully polished bike again i will use the master during assembly.. i have a set of inframe curtis sparks for lsr chassis only pipes that would benifit from this a LOT. super rusted from sitting on the wall for years. time to go look for a larger buffer..

your running the stock cable?? the plastic housing in the middle usually dosent have enough room to open larger carbs? i kinda figured that these carbs needed the correct initial tune before being automatic so to say... great to hear!! the EFI is an ancient setup. some more modernish updates it should work well.

Any good news on "Passion racing" Jim work recently?
camatv replied to 007's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I feel that redline should disasemble the 421 and take pics. then fix the issues with it.. redyno and make a nice post about it. that would be a great edjucational read even for passion... maybe its even something stupid like a leaking seal, bad intake seal, shitty plug caps?? hard to tell. but just flat out saying its the motor porting for sure i think is unfair. ( not that i am defending passion at all so dont take it that way.) its unfortunate that they are doing what they are doing. i have had to help robert many times fix dumb shit they have done with crappy materials so he could even ride.,.. BUT that being said i havent seen to many cub dyno's over the 100hp mark in the dyno section that were saposivley "built" seems the norm is in the 89-98hp mark. i think if you cannot seem to get a 100hp baseline out of a off shelf then WTF? BUT have also seen some in the 109-113 area also. -
try them all. you can also do the trade in dealw ith lectron. you can get 4-5 needles send back the ones that dont work and just pay for the one that does. the 0-2 may be needed for the much stronger pull on the carb from a 2-1. i personally would just either get another 40 and run a pair OR get a set of 34/36, 36/36, 36/38's if you want more low end really the 30/30, 30/32, 32/34 works great i ran 30's on my old dunner 421 they were a fun carb

eric gorr is one of the best. his books are interesting to read. to me they showed that different motors like different things to achieve the same powerbands. it was interesting to me at least

go to cascades webbsite look at all the nice and closeup frame modifications.. cut off the rear subframe exhaust mounts, stuff if you dont need it. the rear foot peg guards if you dont need it. and add the front sterring stop reinforcement. you cannot powdercoat stock a-arms. have them plug all threaded holes and after you get it back run a tap through every single hole. make sure they also plug where the swingarm bolt goes through and the front lower steering stem bearing area and threads.

if anyone needs a pro mod stocker done please pm me. sometimes i have problems getting them out due to broken tooling ( milling bits explode..) but for the most part i have them out and done within 2 weeks at most. plus i respond to emails and all calls and texts. i have been working on other projects so havent really done anything with the override side of the trans work. but if there is some more demand i might work towards finishing the jigg..

2014 Windy City Dune Assault Squad DUNE/DIRT ride dates
camatv replied to WINDYCITYJOHN400's topic in Riding and Events Forum
i have rode with a borken wrist ( that hurt) and 3 broken ribs one time. if you caa take it easy and just sit on one you might be ok. what are they doing to your knee's? you might be in so much pain you wont even leave the house... when my acl was replaced it hurt like hell for a long time. -
hayden has a relay with built in thermometer and you can adjust at what temp to have it come on at. i believe it has a low/hi also example http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hayden-3654-Automotive-Adjustable-Thermostatic-Fan-Control-Cool-Hot-Regulate-/161381024153?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item25930f0199&vxp=mtr and a few years ago i was all about smokin peeps on the strip at the dunes. now i could really care less. i think i will spend most of the hq ride crusing trails and dunes with whoever on my polaris 400. morning rides!! and windy is more than welcome to rip it up with us all these threads i only read a few pages then just make a reply. i missed a bunch of the bullshit. its just not relevant really

bla bla bla bla.. here is an honest reply to the question you asked. dont build a dm for a trail motor they have no cooling capacity and will overheat. do a PV cheeta instead. will have much broader and reliable hp.. it WONT overheat as easily and you wont need a fan. the 300 watt stator is only good for the lights the CDI actually runs off an a/c side thats seperate from the lights. with more modern LED technology you can actually run much larger and brighter lights off of a normal sized stator with a floated ground. OR even decent HID's will work with a small emergency light battery and floated ground smaller stator. if your dead set on a no maintenance setup. dyna's work just fine. people that have had issues with them have not ran them correctly. i think i have explained that one about as many times as windy has shot down other peoples dream's/ projects thats all for now carry on
