popping on now and then will turn into being on here for hours on end just learning and teaching, taking in advice will eventually turn into giving out that same advice you've learned. You can learn a lot of good stuff on here. It's geared towards banshees and their are tons of people on here that know the quad inside and out, backwards and forward, anything you can do to it, what you dont want to do with it and on and on and on. Welcome to the hq, aka, The Banshee knowledge center of the universe

I say go throw it in the corner, with the thought in mind of how much it will cost you to get it back together. Throw a cover over it and forget about it. Go get a job, concentrate on school, and save a dollar here and a dollar there. If you ever go to buy a soda.....dont. Go find a water fountain, or a sink to drink out of. Take that dollar and put it in your savings to get the shee back together. If you sell it your gonna lose money on it.....you can lose now.....and lose later when you get another one (you know you will eventually), or you can set aside....and deal with priorities. Instead of buying a cool ass car that will cost 2 grand more......go buy a reliable junker (chevy, buick, pontiac 3.8 engines will run forever)......save save and save some more. All you need is something to get you from point a to point b. You'll have plenty of time in life to have cool cars and cool toys. You'd be amazed at how much money you can save by not buying stupid little stuff. Instead of buying a bag of chips for a buck.....go get an apple for 50 cents or whatever.....go eat a slice of bread.....it dont taste as good....but it'll give you the same nutrients and food in your stomach until your next meal. I'd never sell my banshee.......they couldnt even repo it because it'd be scattered across states by the time they try to come and get it......and it wont come to that....because you learn how to be frugal. Not to mention christmas is on its way and your bound to get some moolah to throw at the banshee.

you can take a screwdriver and hold the point to different areas of the engine and hold it to your hear and it should be the loudest the closest to where its coming from. Would give you a closer area to look. Even climb under it while its running and do it from the bottom. I dont know what it would sound like, just trying to think of things in that area that could make a noise like that.

kickstart gear not fully disengaging?

have you put new plugs in? I had a screw on top plug doing that, and I was riding once and the one side cut out. Pulled the plug cap off and the screw on tip was still attached to the plug cap. Damn thing actually stripped. Luckily I could put it on upside down and make it back to camp.

Some Asshole Selling The Jetting Faq On Ebay! Wtf?
. replied to BenBB's topic in General Banshee Discussion
isnt their some sort of law that prevents things like that? I mean its on someones site, which they have information on, to give freely to others, and someone tries to sell it? I just spent the last 15 minutes sending him emails calling him a dick -
its already out for the 450....it's shave a few more lbs of not having a starter on it. Which will make it lighter than the honda. Hope honda could pull out some more ponies than the Yamaha or has better geometry, cause if not I'd give the nod to the yamaha. It's got the swingarm that helps you launch as well. And I also believe the yamaha has an auto decompression as well, I thought I heard that somewhere, but I could be wrong.

www.nossmachine.com He's the guy that makes the heads, not for nos. Just like a pro design cool head but the look is a lot cleaner, uses the same domes, and he's a part of this forum to boot. His ad is at the top of the page when it goes through the ads.

it sucks he has an immediate payment on it. I'd take a negative feedback for the team. -
Is your choke tube connected?

I wouldnt listen to hard to vito's on what they say about that. If you think about it, why do you go with a long rod? To increase reliability right? A stroker crank is known to tear top ends apart faster than a stock crank would. A +4mm long rod stroker I would think would give you two things. It would make up for reliability issues a little and then some probably. I would say that instead of going through three top ends with a plain stroker say you go through 2 instead. That right there would pay the extra for that long rod being installed in there. With a stroker motor your rod angle is going to be greater than a stock crank. I would think the +4mm long rod would make up for it. Throw some 795 pistons in there and get your porting corrected for the stroker and I think you'd come away with a pretty reliable stroker.

A new tranny will run you a couple hundred plus tear down costs etc. If your spending 10 bucks every other ride and you ride every other weekend thats 260 bucks a year. My tranny has lasted 2 years now and I change my oil every 5 or 6 rides. I got a magnetic drain plug that'll help keep metal particles away from the moving parts but I cant see changing an expensive oil that often. I use the Hondalube semi synthetic stuff and it works great. As soon as I put it in I felt better, smoother shifts with it. Its red like ATF and you can see when its starting to get contaminated because the red wont be as clear, and you know its time to change. The more you change it the better obviously, but you have to weigh in the cost factor of the oil as well. If I change mine every 4 rides I'll save 130 a year, so I've saved 260 bucks, and my tranny is still running pretty darn strong. Next rebuild I'll take a look at the gears and see how they are doing. Probably another 2 years from now, and that'll be 520 bucks. Quite enough to put into the tranny if it is bad enough that it would need to be rebuilt, which I dont think it will be.

that price is correct, I called them to make sure. I'm getting a set.

Anyone Use Power Pistons In Stock Ported Engine?
. replied to .'s topic in General Banshee Discussion
The vito's power pistons. Been dicked around enough by Rec. Unlimited. Ordered pistons a month ago and still havent gotten them. Going with someone else. I'm tired of their crap. Dont even return my phone calls or emails. -
Would they create any more power anywhere? I can probably get them cheaper than I can get a pro lite kit for. Should I go with them? What will it do for me? I saw on the site that they'll give me more low end which is a good thing. Just curious on everyones thoughts on them?

You may want to rephrase your topic, your sounding a little fruity.

Who Makes The Lightest Swingarms/axles?
. replied to bansheeman95's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
you could get one of those titanium swingarms.....forget who makes them though -
oh yeah, forgot to add, your rear tires look mighty pumped up. I keep mine at about 3 lbs and they seem to want to hook a little better. Do you ride in the snow at all with it? Mud? I've found those headlight covers to be a major pain in the ass. Snow all builds up in them and mud builds up in them and you cant wipe them off real quick while your riding. I dont think they'd really actually do shizzel to work if a rock or something hit them anyway. Just thought I'd give my findings on that as well.

Does it clean up some after you ride it for a while? You sure you didnt pinch the rings when you put the coolhead on? Mine was reading equal in both cylinders once and it was that I used my old orings and they were both leaking coolant into the cylinders. That'll drop compression. I didnt notice any fluid loss either. Changed the rings and compression went up 5-10 lbs (top end was beat at the time). After beating on it for a while does your coolant bubble? Mine did before I changed rings and stopped after. What jetting you using, engine mods, elevation? When I had my 18's in there I was at 170 at 800 feet. At my elevation I'd expect the 19's to be somewhere around 160-165. I wish I would of put my 21's in before my top end starting coming apart so I could have a better reference. I'd say rip on it hard for a while, get some heat built up in it, and then shut her down and see if the coolant bubbles. If it does you definitely know what it is, if not dig farther. It'll cost you some money but I'd say pull your top end, and check the domes for any browning to a side of the dome. On mine you could pretty much tell where on the oring they were leaking. How many hours you have on your top end? Just trying to give some ideas and things to look for. Mine also leaked more on the one side and when you got on it, someone watching could see more smoke come out that one side. Yours looks to be smoking more than mine, so maybe that is why the bigger loss in compression than mine was.

lol....stop building my quad. Guess we have the same mindset. Looks like your getting there a lot quicker than I am. If I ever get my pistons in I'll have a fresh top end. And I'm already saving for the crank and porting for the next rebuild.
-
definitely hone them. If your crank isnt welded, when you get the LR make sure you weld it. You have porting so I'm assuming your numbers are starting to get up there. Nossmachine.com has a chart on his site for dome size to compression with altitude. You need to hone them every time new rings go in. The rings wear into the hone and they both match each other creating a seal. You can take them to any machine shop and they can do it for you or you can buy a honer and do it yourself. If you dont have an idea of how to do it i'd take it to a machine shop.

mx banshee must sell or trade
. replied to NAXbansheeman11's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
so does that mean your not interested in the 200x? It's got one less tire on the ground so it should be faster. With some mods it'd take on some pretty sick quads. -
I've got aftermarket balls. They're bigger and stronger and pound up against stuff longer than those little stock ones

To boost or not to boost ? ( bottle that is)
. replied to 98bonerSTOCKshee's topic in General Banshee Discussion
know how water has a skin to it? Water wetter gets rid of that skin and that is what helps it transfer heat better. I dont need a temp gauge to tell when my shee is getting hot, its just one of those things you can tell. And its one of those things that if you all of a sudden get a lean condition, your engines gonna be shot way before it ever reads on that temp gauge. Only way to go is with an exhaust temp gauge. I wish a company would build a weld in kit for the shee. They make them for snowmobiles. I run water wetter and a coolhead and my shee seems to do fine in the trails. It gets a little warm sometimes but you just find a nice little straightaway to clean it out and cool it down. -

I've got a honda 200x with a lot of extra parts, including 2 other engines for it. I'll trade you that and a couple hundred bucks. You could be like that dude in the huevos videos.
