  1. you sure you have your compression tester screwed in all the way? If it is and your getting that reading, pull the head off and wiggle the piston. Does it have a lot of play? It should have pretty much no play at all. If its still got pretty much no play, your tester is bad. Sounds like its right though with the problems your having. Are you doing this cold or warmed up for a couple minutes? It should go up a ways when warmed up a little bit. Mine went up 30 psi when I was due for a rebuild
  2. tried tightening them....didnt work......tried loctite....broke that shit loose too. I gave up and went looking for solid caps....i'm sure the red loctite would've worked.
  3. sweet, thats the way I have them. I was pretty sure it was o.k. Just wanted to make sure before I get it all completely back together tomorrow and start it up. Oh boy I cant wait......its been since the beginning of september....wayyyy to long. At least now I'll have a second set of cylinders that I'll be getting setup so when I blow this top end.....I can be up and running in a few hours. What I'd like to eventually do is have another whole engine ready to go, kind of a plug and play type thing. Know anyone thats got a good bottom end?
  4. yeah its important, it holds the inner races of the bearings from caving in on each other when you tighten the axle nuts down. Keep working at it, it should go on. Dont mess up the threads of the end of your axle. Use a socket that will rest up against where the hub rests up against and hammer on the socket. Keep working at it, it'll go on. Mine slid right on using some grease. Whats actually holding it up from going on?

    4mm Stroke.

I've run the pro design foam filter with the foam prefilter for the last 2 years through some incredibly nasty situations, mudholes, rivers, you name it, i've gone through it. I got one of those lucky quads that likes the water, and I'm not afraid to rip through it to get through it as fast as possible. I run it with no lid and every single time I've pulled it off its been clean on the inside. I clean it often and keep it oiled. Just dont stand your 4wheeler up with it on, it'll pour gas through it. I believe that was my downfall and gave my top end the final heave ho. I rolled my shee on top of myself going down this steep hill, (slow rollover, just a scratch or two) and gas was pouring on me for 10-15 seconds before I could get free enough to shut the gas off, and even longer before I could get it off me and uprighted. After that I hit a mudhole that probably went over the top of my airbox and I sucked in a little mud/sand water. It wouldnt of happened if my filter was still oiled. I just wish they'd make an outerwears type filter that I could slip over my foam filter that would resist water and such.
  6. Alright, I threw my cylinders on last night and when I went to put the base gaskets on, theres a softer side (top I presume) and a under side thats smoother feeling I believe. When I went to put them on, the one went one side up, and the other the other side up. Did I get 2 of the same side gaskets in my kit by accident or is o.k. to run one the one way and the other one the other way? I'm pretty sure I dont have to run sealant of any kind with them right? Also gasket surface on the case theres indentations that look to be where the coolant would run? The gaskets block them off? Do RZ gaskets have the holes in the gaskets for the coolant to go into the top case a little bit?
  7. I'm still taking offense to this topic!
  8. yeah, its supposed to have the cracks, mine has them as well.
  9. I run the BR8EG as well. I forget what the firing tip is though too. I know its a better conductor. Main reason I run it is that it has a solid connection tip, not a screw on one. I can get the br8es sometimes with a solid connection tip as well but not as often. I was riding once about 10 miles from camp and the one side started cutting in and out on me. Pulled the plug cap off and the connection tip of the plug was still in the cap. I've had them come loose before, but this one actually stripped the threads from the vibration. Luckily I could screw it on upside down and get back to camp.
  10. alright alright......you twisted my arm......I had to buy one.
  11. I'm not sure exactly what this is about? Is he trying to get rid of people working overtime? How is that possible? I know my company, and D.O.T. regulation is that you cant drive over 60 hours a week. I know I work 45-60 hours a week depending and it would be impossible for those in the trash business to work only 40 hours a week. Hell, we cant get enough drivers as it is. All this week I finished my route....and then went and picked up 1/2-3/4 of someone else's route because their is noone else to pick it up. Plain and simple.....if we're not allowed to get overtime.....this country is going to have trash laying everywhere.
  12. Thanks for the replies everyone. Jim you pretty much hit what I was looking for. I've broken in a lot of 4stroke engines (atv, and race vehicle) and know that a good seat is very important. It can make you or break you. I never even looked at the honda stuff. All I could find was semi's or castors. I know they have the honda stuff there. You shouldnt be using a full synthetic for break in GM. When an engine is wearing in the rings are wearing into the crosshatches in your cylinder walls creating a seal. When you use synthetics it is extra slippery and doesnt allow this to happen as well, creating an engine that is not going to run at its full potential. It is commonly called glazing a cylinder. I also firmly believe in pushing an engine. It will run how its born. After its heat cycles you can feel where the engine doesnt want to go in the rpm range. You need to take it to that point. Its a fine line and something that comes with experience of knowing how far to push it, without hurting the engine.
  13. I'm not to into the carbon fiber reeds. They dont flex as easily as a regular dual stage reed would and dont believe they'd open as far. They might, but definitely not as easily. They also wont pass through an engine as easily as a regular material reed. I saw boyeson I believe made a dual stage reed with a carbon fiber second reed, and a regular material inner reed.
  14. moto man has free shipping as well I believe. Dont go with Recreation Unlimited. I'm one of those that is having the issues. Horrible horrible customer service (3 replies in 8 weeks of sending emails and voicemails). Kit I finally got after 6 weeks only had 1 piston in it, and it came in a bag just being banged around.
  15. What is everyone using for a break in premix oil? Only thing I can find is semisynthetic premixes, and castor based premixes. I know the castor base is not synthetic, but likes to coat things, and a semisynthetic still has synthetics in it. What would you recommend?
  16. whats your elevation? I dont know if they raised the exhaust port or not....but that'd drop compression from whatever it is already. When I had 18cc domes at 900 feet I had 172 lbs of compression. I'd think with 20cc domes I'd have around 150 or so. Sounds like they raised your exhaust ports some. Your numbers for compression are probably about on. I'd go with some 18's and you'd still probably be safe mixing. I'd say 160, start mixing, and 165 get into straight race.
  17. correct me if i'm wrong but the ss pistons do the same as raising the exhaust port which lowers compression?
  18. Thats one good thing about this site, I feel it will self govern itself. And mainly what I've been writing in this topic is what I'd want and not want from moderators, and I feel a lot of the other posts have been the same. I have nothing against this site being moderated, I'm all for it, and it will create a smoother running, more efficient banshee site, if moderated correctly. I've been to other sites like the ramcharger one your talking about boon, and agree it can be controlled very well. I'm all for what your saying, and how you feel about being a moderator, and what you feel your obligations should be. Screamin, I'm not saying you shouldnt be a moderator, but think of yourself as an elected official. The stop your crying reply, and doing some "tests" cleaning out the general discussion forum are just things we dont need from mods. We're trying to voice our opinions of how we feel this site should be moderated.....and all you do is take it as crying about having moderators. You cant think for yourself anymore, you have to think for a body of members. If a topic is junk, or post is junk, like some stupid chick peeing ten feet, sure.....you might not like it, but us dumb shits that have been working for the last 13 hours and just want to have a chuckle might get some amusement out of it. I say if its out of the ordinary, leave it......if its just some porn flick thrown up on the forum.....delete it. Know what I'm getting at? I think this site will do well, and if a moderator does something someone doesnt like, it will be addressed, and dealt with. And if it has to go to supreme court (lee) thats where it will go.
  19. Them there things aint no footguards......they be them there mudcatchers. Never understood why anyone would want to collect mud while riding their shee. All you need is a shovel and a wheelbarrow.
  20. to busy to get back to me from leaving an email and phone message once a day for 3 weeks straight? Especially with someone that had an order that was messed up? Only answering me twice in 7 going on 8 weeks now? Notice how they dont have an ad in dirtwheels this month? And they keep shifting their phone numbers around as well.
  21. Just thought I'd update and let others that havent seen this yet see it. Still only have half the kit. Still get no response from them through email or me leaving them messages on their voicemail (when I get a voicemail that isnt full or one at all). My dispute is going through with my bank, they credited my account for now, but it has to go through the whole process. At least its my banks money that they're trying to get back now, and not mine. I try to get a hold of them in every which way possible, and nothing. My bank says if they dont respond to them that it will become a fraudulant case and charges will be pressed upon the company, and not to worry about losing my money. All I want from them is my money back, and postage to ship the pistons back, and they wont even respond to that. Hey....maybe I'll have half a kit by the time its all said and done.
  22. nah....its a philly thing. Try one out man. You guys have chipped beef over there? (beef thats cut basically like sandwich meat). Follow my directions in the previous post and try one.....they're pretty damn good.
  23. where you from? so we can get an idea in our heads what shipping is gonna be?
  24. hey tats, what classes do you run in? What classes are their that you can run banshees in. I'm assuming all the open classes. I just wish they'd allow bigger cc 2strokes into the pro production, and pro classes on the gncc circuit. It'd be nice to see some aftermarket framed shee's in the pro class and stock framed shees in the pro production. It'd never happen though because they know nothing could compete.
