  1. Hello, While I never owned a stock shee...I hear they can be turds.... so I cant tell you how it should compare to the 300ex. If I were you and you had some extra cash to spend...Find your self a nice set of pipes...get rid of the crappy stock airfilter and get a Proflow adaptor with your choice of either a K&N or foam filter....then smoke his ass.....(after you have properly jetted) As for the back firing and such, I would look for a few things... 1) Is your air filter clean ? 2) How is your jetting ? 3) Overly rich fuel mix ? 4) Carbs..are they in Sync? 5) What color are your plugs ? That will indicate the condition of your engine (rich lean) Ride hard and remeber this....any banshee is better than a honda Nick
  2. Hello, Jetting with a port job is silly, sometimes it changes sometimes it may not. Mine changed big time after my port. I reputable builder/porter should be able to give you ball park figures on jetting. If they cant...they dont get my juggies.... Also....when you port you will loose some compression....how much will be determined by how my you were ported and such......You will just have to see what compression you have AFTER you get her back together and do proper break in procedures and all the internals settle in....then you can start to up the compression if you feel it necessary. Hope that helps.... Nick
  3. Hey all, i want to thank all of you for your suggestions. i am on my 3rd day of changing things around... i will keep at it...thanks again fellas... Nick
  4. hello, I think I figured out my jetting problems. It was running real rich it seems from right after idle right up on thru to the top... I am jetted at (30,360) mods in the sig. here is what a I did so far: I cut off the bacl 1.5 inches of my airbox lid Moved the needle to the 2nd clip from blunt end Turn air screws out 3-3.5 turns out. My question is this.....Should I lower my pilots back to stock(25's) and lower the needle to the 4th from blunt end ? I really dont want to have to keep rejetting all the time. So I figure I will leave my main jets (360) in thus the cut airbox lid will lean out that circuit enuff... Just not sure what to do for the mid/low circuits? Does dropping to 25's and riching up the needles sound like the correct thing to do ? Please advise...and thanks for all the help.... Nick
  5. Hey, The headers look like a set of old kaufmans i used to have........ Nick
  6. hello all, I checked the reeds the are like brand new. no cracks or anything. I cleaned the carbs. I even lowered the needles and still nothing. I checked the stator to see if there was water in there. Its dry as a bone. I checked the coil and put di-electric grease on all the contacts for a water tight seal...and still no luck. Please advise... Nick
  7. Hello, My pilot has remained the same since winter...I was at a 25... then upped it to a 30 after my port job. The problem is really at half throttle or untill the reeds open and the band kicks in... It really is unridable on the trails because it bogs so bad in the mid-range...until the reeds open up... Needles are in stock location now...and i tried richening the needle and richening the airscrew..and now have leaned the needle by going back to stock and I did run the pilot 3 turns out and it didnt do much... I also ran without the airbox lid just to see if I was to rich...it seemed to run a little better... Sometimes if I pull the choke it wants to shut the motor off... I guess i wll tear the carbs apart Nick
  8. hey all, I think my jetting is off...but I am not sure.....It has a really bad bog from a little after idle until the reeds open up...then its a rocket ship..... I adjusted the pilots...and it didnt seem to get any better.... THe needles WERE in the 4th position from the blunt end...and I moved them back to stock...kinda batter but not by much? I am jetted (30,360) air screws out 2 turns (were out 3 turns) mods in the sig.....I was thinking about leaning out the needle some more but i was unsure about it.... Please advise.....Do I need more fuel or less ? The way it is now I cant trail ride cuz it bogs so bad in the power zone that I need.. Electrical ? Water ? Carbs ? please help Nick

  19. Hello, Its definately more challenging to fly.....but learned on my own with now help. Its a true 3-d flight environment.....an airplane wants to fly by nature as long as it has forward momenntum. A helicopter does not.....you must keep it in the air....there are alot of little things that can go wrong on a heli while in flight its a complex machine.....any little bent shaft or sonething out of balance will show up as massive vibration and could cause a massive chain reaction failure Dont let that scare you...they are fun to fly...just like a little more attention....just like a banshee Nick
  20. Hey all, I posted some pics of my heli...... If your interested in specifics....just send me a PM.... Nick

  24. Lol...got 2 posts while i was writing my reply to his question....o well readu p anyhow... Hello, When he said "rebuild" he meant rebuild the topend of the motor. The topend is the pistons and rings. If your going to change the rings...you may as well spend the extra hour it takes to put the new pistons in. I just rebuilt my 95 banshee for the first time this winter. It was on its stock bore and still made about 110psi in each cylinder. I took it to .10 over. If you do decide to rebuild, take the cylinders off and have them mic'd or measured to make sure they have not gone out of round at any point in the cylinder. If it within specs then just put in a new piston set with rings. If it is out of round...have them bored to the next size up, you want to bore as little as possible but as much is needed to make the cylinders round again. For example .10 or .20 over. Also VERY important....check your crankshaft and rods for excess play. If you havent already get yourself a Clymers manual and become familiar with this stuff...it is not difficult at all. Top end rebuild only takes a few hours......oh...and dont forget to use all NEW gasgets.... Nick
  25. Hello, Who wants to be like every other atv out there (sing carb)? I love my twin carbs....while true it can be a pain in the ass to get everyting running perfect...but to me thats the fun of having a Banshee.... I never road a singel carb setup so I cant really add any value to this thread...lol Nick
