SyNtAxx replied to erbilabuc's topic in General Banshee Discussion

Hello, When i redid my topend.... I cleaned out the bottom end too... here is what i did...this may sound retarded but it worked for me... i sprayed a shit load of carb cleaner in there.... Then i tore up pices of terrry cloth and stuffed them in to the lower end..and rotated the crank a round....and the terry cloth pulled all the loose dirt and git out.. then give it a final wash down with premix if you like....and you should be good.... *Disclaimer*....Syntaxx is not responsible for anybody blown or welded cranks..and or any subsequent damage as a result of anything that I have said... hello all, The bike starts......thats not the problem....sorry for the confusion... Its just since I replaced the air screws the idle is not the same...i figured that is because the older screws may have been worn..... So I may just have to adjsut the idle... yes/no ? My real concern was this...: After i resynched the carbs....I ran the bike and sprayed carb cleaner around the carbs and intakes bling bottle etc.... With the carb cleaner the engine reved higher......(was this because carb cleaner is almost like ether and a very thin gas and would penetrate even the slightest crack or was it cuz it got sucked into the airbox.....i tired to cover the air box as best I could... THEN....I did the same test with wd-40 and spryed it all up while the bike was running...and it DID NOT raise the rpms of the engine......my only thought on this was because the wd-40 is heavier and may not penetrate an "air tight" seal or slight crack in rubber... Thanks again everybody....for your input... So my question is still this...Do I have an airleak or not ? Nick
-
Hey, how bout a Glock full auto handgun... the local 5.0 uses them round here......get it round....no pun Nick
-
Why wouyld I want to use ether ? the carb cleaner raises the rpms.... but the wd-40 does not..... so is there an air leak or not ? Nick
-
Hey all, I just changed my airscrew on my carbs because the slots on the top were rounded off...... i reset the airscrews to 2.5 turn out just as before Now ever since then the idle is off...doesnt seem to want to stay running..... I presume new the airscrew settings are prolly not going to be the exact smae as the others were.... Oh....I sprayed around the carbs with carb cleaner while the moter was running...and it started to run faster....this is an indication of an airleak righ.... But whan i repeated the same test with wd-40 the engine rpms stayed the same and did not elevate...so which results do I beleive? the carb cleaner or the Wd-40? I think the carb cleaner is almost liek ether and would raise the rpms regardless because the gas is so thin yes/no? I didnt see any big cracks in the intake boots or anything....I dunno what to do now Please advise.... Thanks Nick....

Hey all, I just broke the tip off my needle jet They are stock needle jets for a 95 banshee? Does anybody have any for sale? Should I replace both at the same time? Or should I use after market needles.....? Goto dealer ? Nick
-
Hello, Wow....so you want me to lean out the needle? Leaner than stock? Can yuo explain to me why?.... Please dont mis understand...I am not questioning your advice...just curious how/why you think leaning the needles is the way to go.... I am by no means an engine/jetting master. Thanks again.... Hey all, Well i am expecting weather around 70 degress this weekend here in PA. I was jetted for march at 360/30 and it seemed to run ok for temps around 45-50. I just rode the bike today...temp was about 60 degrees today and it seemed like it was sputtering and carrying on just about all over the throttle range. I would think the mix would get my richer because the weather is getting warmer correct? So i must jet down now correct? I didnt run the bike for about 3 weeks...but i doubt the carbs gummed up that quick? I run Klotz supertechniplate(Castor). I am jetted at 360/30 needles at stock location...should I jet down now? i just dont want to toast my new topend and porting...see sig below for complete mod list. I pulled the choak while I was riding and it seemd to almost shut the engine down...so I imagine i am just running rich the way I am jetted now? Please suggest what I should do..... Thanks a bunch in advance... Nick

What Did You Notice When You Lightned Your Flywhee
SyNtAxx replied to nickxc's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Hello all, How will lightening my flywheel go with my ported engine. Will it be good for hill climbs? My mods are in my sig. Nick -
Hey, In my opinion there is no "best" setting so to speak. As I am sure your aware that anytime you adust the amount of airflow in/out of a banshee you need to rejet. You want took look for a copy of the jetting FAQ on this site. Extremely valuble. It will explain everything you need to know about jetting. Jetting is dependant on elevation also. Have you done a plug chop on fresh plugs to verify your mains? I am no jetting expert...but i have done my fair share of tearing carbs apart. Find a copy of the FAQ read....then start from there. Whats your mix ratio ? Nick
-
Hello, Sounds retarded...but do you have any pics...? Nick
-
Hey, i would check the stator.... and the stator pickups. Nick
-
Hello, Porting will lower your compression some what depending on the port type and the amount of material that was removed from the cylinders. Nick
-
Hey, am jetted at 30 on the pilots and 360 on the mains with my mods listed in sig.... Maybee I am way rich ? My altitude is varied from....850-1700 feet. What you think......my plugs look good...so you sound lean in my meager opinion.. Besides you can always jet leaner if your rich....but if your lean you may nnot get the chance to jet up if you catch my drift..... Trust your gut....and go rich and work your way down... More than likely those jets may have been just a starting point..... Nick
