  1. Everything is good to go! The kicker has been sent out and I've got the tracking #. Thanks for straightening everything out. Thumbs up for Sanddragon Motorsports! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...TRK%3AMEWN%3AIT
  2. Would be interested in the TT tires if you end up parting out. Would like to see pics and price.
  3. That's a good point, but with all the flexing the reeds are designed to do I would think it would be alright, they must be pretty tough. I have seen a set of cages with the center bars cut out, they were on ebay, they had solid one piece fiber reeds and were advertised as being drag ported.
  4. I think that's the reason for the two-stage reed to begin with. Only the first stage opens for high-velocity airflow for good throttle response and the big pedals open at higher r's when more airflow is needed. Give it a shot, if it doesn't work out you can pick up a set of stock cages cheap and sell those to someone else who wants to experiment.
  5. You can get parking lot vouchers starting at 9 PM the night before, so you'll want to be at the voucher center at 9 o'clock friday night if you need to park something in the lot. You will need to know what time you want to be in the lot, the vouchers are for (7am-9am), (9am-11am), and so on. The dunes open at 9 oclock, we usually get the 9-11 vouchers. You will also need your licencse plate number for the voucher center. If it is possible for you it is easiest to go "Dune Ready" (drive everything you're taking into the dunes) You still need to get "dune ready" vouchers but they aren't limited like the parking lot vouchers.
  6. Vmax-4 800 cylinders are 65mm bore. Vmax-4 stroke is 59.6mm, 5.6 mm longer than a stock Banshee crank. So I don't know what the best way would be to go about doing it. Maybe a 4mil stroker Banshee crank and deck the cylinders? 7mil crank and cut the domes? These cylinders make some pretty wicked power, Vmax-4 800 with pipes is 170 hp. It's deffintely something I'd like to try, but I need to research it further.
  7. I'm a big fan of nikisil too. I have a Vmax-4 snowmobile with nikisil cylinders that has 11,700 miles on the original bore/pistons/rings. Has lost less than 5 psi per cylinder since the day it left the factory in 1992. All I do with the sled now is drag race, it spends all of its life at 8,500+ rpms without a problem, its amazing stuff. Here's an interesting tidbit, Vmax-4 750 and 800 nikisil cylinders will bolt on to Banshee cases. Banshee 400 with stock Yamaha cylinders Never tried it myself, but I beilieve its been done.
  8. Yeah, I get what you mean, deffinitely seems to be two different midsets between the people who design the sleds and the ones who design the quads.
  9. Not to get off topic but to say that Polaris' 2 stroke sled lineup rips is a far stretch of the imagination. Polaris is in the same position in the sled world as in the quad world, great for old farts.
  10. eBay is on top of this one, auction has already been pulled.
  11. I have no experience in this but it seems to me that if the power jets only add fuel at WOT then the result would be a really lean midrange with the 260 main and the needle on the second clip. If it were me I would try raising the needle or just going with a non power jet carb like you were saying. It would be much easier to get jetting advice then.
  12. No, each bearing should be "pulled" or hammed outward of its respective end. Neither bearing should be pressed/hammered all the way through the hub. I stick a long punch through one bearing and beat the opposite bearing out, then flip the hub and beat the other out the other side. Then I use a shop press to put the new bearings in. If you don't have a press, try cooling the bearings like mentioned before and heating the hub, should drop in.
  13. Yep, the metal peg sits on top the swinger.
  14. Sorry, rims sold right away after I posted. Thanks to everyone who contacted me
  15. Got a pair of Douglas Blue Label (.125) polished aluminum 8x8's. 4x115. Fit Banshee's, 450's, raptors, warriors. Maybe others Excellent condition, like new, used only in the sand, selling to go to haulers on 10's. Purchased new two years ago, still got the stickers on em. $40 + shipping OBO
  16. Personally I would wait for the next rebuild. Or just accept that you are gonna waste a bore. If the pistons you have are the ones I'm thinking they won't work well with a normal port job, they are cut on the front to mimic a higher exhaust port already. If it were mine I'd just wait and have it done on the next build with some normal wiesco pro-lites, just my $.2 though. I'm sure it could be done now.
  17. The jeep was being towed by a red dodge. A lady was driving the jeep with her very young son in the passenger seat. Nothing she could do but watch it happen. The guy driving the dodge on the other hand.
  18. Nothing happened to the guy towing the jeep, I was there. I watched the whole thing happen. A friend (another member of this board) and I raced him quite a few times that afternoon. I had only taken a break from the strip two or three races before this happened. My dad was the first on the scene and helped this guy until they were able to heli him out, it wasn't pretty. Another friend and I went around collecting the familys things and we helped to get their truck loaded so they could drive to the hospital. I know one of his daughters saw the accident for sure and saw her dad laying there with his leg torn off. She had only gotten off the drag strip a few runs before this happened as well. It was quite disturbing knowing that I was right where he was only a couple of runs before, then hearing his daughter scream when she ran up to him. People need to pay attention.
  19. IRS is a good thing. That is the preferred rear suspension. Does it have a tranny in it? If so ask him if it is a car or bus tranny. Bus trannys are better but not neccessary for what you want. You would want at least a 1600cc dualport motor for runnin around at silver lake. You can usually pick them up complete for under $300.
  20. I'm sure this a probably a repost but in light of all the recent controversy about dumb posts and so on I thought it might be relevant enough to post again. All new users should deffinitely watch. Enjoy... http://www.linuxbench.org/Posting.html
  21. I just put 6 Barnett's in it. With a good lever and cable the pull really isn't bad. If it gets to hard I just won't use it.
  22. I'm in the middle of putting a new clutch in my bike and I have too many choices of clutch springs. I have a set of EBC HD springs and then I just got two sets of Barnett springs with my new clutch and both sets are heavier than my old hd springs. My motor is trail ported, with a cut head. Fatty pipes. It runs real strong down low and has a real powerful midrange. I run 15/41 for all around riding but will sometimes be running a 16 up front. I don't want my clutch slipping but I don't have a left forearm like the hulk either. What do you guys think, I was thinking of running all six of the lighter Barnett springs or 3 of the heavy barnetts and 3 ebc's. I don't know, maybe I should just nut up and put all 6 of the heavy ones in there
  23. 86.7 on GPS. Could've easily pulled more gearing though. Didn't think that was too bad.
